What: Andy Gallagher arrives on The Planet
When: Day 20, mid-afternoon
Where: Garden
Rating: TBD but it'll be dependent on language, likely.
Status Complete

Somewhere between "demons" and Sam's thinking aloud as he paced the room, Andy had grown tired. Wherever the hell he was, it must've been a long trip, because he was completely exhausted. Then again, he supposed the scare of being almost clobbered with a two-by-four by a guy who probably made most men look ridiculously small in comparison coupled with the what-the-fuckery of it all probably didn't help his situation an awful lot.

He crossed his arms on the dusty wooden table in front of himself and laid his head down. Surely, the others wouldn't mind too much if he took a nap. It wasn't like any of them were going anywhere anytime soon. At least, not as far as he knew. He sure as hell wasn't, anyway; the last one who tried to leave -- Lily, he thought her name was -- wound up hung by a noose from a freakin' clock tower. Forget frigging Frontier Land, this was like being in a horror movie that Andy wanted very badly out of...as soon as physically possible. Besides, Sam had laid salt lines and it would seem that being inside them was the only way to stay safe. So, yeah, he wasn't going anywhere and doubted if they were, either.

Before he knew it, Andy had drifted off.

He woke with a start, complete with a loud sniff and a gasp. The feeling he'd had when he woke up in Cold Oak was the same feeling he had now. He didn't even need to look around to know that something wasn't right and he wasn't, as they say, in Kansas, anymore. The fear settled deep into his belly immediately, but when Andy sat up and looked around, he was confused.

The greenest grass and leaves Andy had probably ever seen were decorated liberally with some of the brightest colored flowers. Their sweet smell wafted lazily through the air. A...garden? Yeah, a giant freakin' garden. What the hell?

"Jesus, not again..." he muttered to himself as he stood and looked around.

It was quiet. Too quiet, actually. He couldn't even really hear any birds chirping, which, you know...that was a little weird, right? Normally, the quiet was nice, but in this case, he could make an exception. Twice in one day falling asleep in one place and waking up in another? Really?

The sun shined brightly above him and it was a little hot. Slipping off his hoodie, Andy scratched the back of his head. "What the hell...?" he asked, looking around in the other direction. "Where...am I?"

Andy tensed slightly when Sam said that Tracy was a good person. "Yeah. Too good to hang out with a freak," he muttered, looking down. "She's scared of me. I haven't been able to catch her eye since that day when you guys left Guthrie. Eventually, I stopped trying. I figured it was the least I could do."

He listened as Sam shared and he frowned. It would seem that they had a little more in common than probably either of them had considered, even putting the psychic thing aside. Tracy hadn't died, but she might as well have for all the time Andy got to spend with her after the fact and Andy's way of getting by was no more legal than Sam's, although definitely a bit more stealth.

"I used my mind thing to tell debt collectors, landlords...check out clerks - you name it - that I'd already paid and it wasn't my fault if they had misplaced the payment. I always told them if they looked again, they'd see," he replied with a wan smile. "Well, aren't we too criminal peas in a pod?" he joked humorlessly.

Sam remained silent for a few long moments, feeling a bit awkward now that he'd mentioned Tracy. "Sorry, man. I shouldn't have brought it up," he finally said.

When Andy joked about them being alike in their criminal activities, Sam laughed. "Yeah, but at least your way you probably won't ever end up in jail for it," he pointed out.

Walking into the courtyard, Sam waved a hand in the direction of the plaque. "It's over there. Can't say I have issues with the last rule," he joked. Because of it, he hadn't had a vision since he'd arrived.

Andy shook his head and gave a dismissive wave with one hand. "Don't worry about it," he replied giving Sam a small, half-assed smile. "I think we're even." He was referring to when he'd pried a bit earlier in the conversation.

But at least Sam was laughing. "Yeah, well, you won't either, now, man, if you think about it," he pointed out with a smirk.

It seemed that they'd reached their destination as Sam toward the plaque. Andy raised an eyebrow at Sam's comment and made his way over to the thing, reading it. "Oh hey, yeah, me either, dude," he laughed without looking back at Sam. He went back to the top of the thing, reading the rest in order.

Turning toward Sam, he grinned and shrugged. "Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me. How do I find my room?"

"It is pretty nice," Sam admitted. He didn't add that it got a little bit boring after awhile, since he'd pretty much already said that. "Follow me." He led Andy inside and over to where the keys where kept. Looking around for one that had a blinking light on it, he grabbed the key to room D222. "You're in the D building. I'm in C, room 111, so if you ever need anything you know where to find me. I'll show you where the building is."

"Thanks," Andy replied, following Sam. He appreciated that Sam was offering the option to come find him if Andy ever needed anything. He took a mental note of Sam's room number and hoped he wouldn't forget in the mean time.

"So are the rooms totally crap? Like shitty hotels or something?" he asked, only half-joking. "Because a guy could go insane living in hotels, am I right?"

"Actually, the rooms work sort of weird too. They look like whatever you want them to look like, sort of. Pretty much whatever you want here, as long as it's something inanimate and doesn't involving you leaving, you get," Sam admitted as he led the way to the D building.

Sam grinned at Andy's last comment. He knew he meant it to be funny and Sam couldn't resist saying something back. "I don't know, I manage it pretty well and I haven't gone insane. Yet. Maybe it's different with motels," he joked.

Andy raised an eyebrow at Sam's explanation of the rooms.

He let out an uncomfortable laugh. "I don't know, man, maybe we're both insane and this place is a figment of our imaginations...like we thought it up together after the men in white coats came and stuck us in a padded room or something..."

Sam laughed. "Hey man, you're the one with the mind stuff. I just see people dying." He clapped a hand on Andy's back good-naturedly. "I don't know, maybe you're just high and are making me see this stuff too," he joked for a moment, then shook his head. "Nah, cuz I've been here longer than you. My brother did run into jinn before that made something like this happen... Although it gave him the perfect life and while this is nice, it isn't what I'd choose."

"Oh, I'm the one?" Andy laughed. "Okay, because dreaming people's deaths before they happen is totally normal, Sam." He shook his head and grinned as he gave Sam a hard, but playful, punch to the arm.

"Jinn?" Andy asked. "Care to elaborate?"

"Touche," Sam said in reply, glad for the humor, opening the door to the D building and all but pushing Andy through the door. "Get inside so I can make my escape and then we'll see who they come for. 20 bucks says it's you. The police would be coming after me," Sam informed him as he made his way to the stairs. "My brother and I ran into a jinn awhile back. You know, sort of like a genie in a lamp? Only this one stuck you in this hazy happy perfect life all in your head while it sucked your blood until you finally died. It almost got Dean. Almost didn't find him in time." Sam paused for a moment, sobering. "We've had a lot of close calls."

Andy laughed, enjoying this side of Sam far more than the dark, brooding side he'd met the other two times. If he didn't know any better, he'd think that he and Sam were actually friends...

"Yeah? Well then $50 says if they take me, I'll be put in next door to you, you friggen nutcase," he joked back, following Sam up the stairs.

He listened to the explanation about the djinn and he raised his eyebrows. Sam's mood seemed to drop, then and Andy was sorry to see it. "Damn. That's kinda fucked up, man. Sorry to hear it," he replied.

"Hey, at least we'll have someone to talk to then," Sam said in reply, brightening once again. He waved a hand when Andy apologized for the jinn. "In our line of work, you sort of get used to life and death situations. Although not really." Sam hoped he never got so used to seeing death that it didn't phase him at all.

Andy understood what Sam meant about getting used to something, but not really. On a far smaller scale, Andy had gotten used to being alone; to Tracy ignoring him any time that he tried to see her. Eventually he'd given up trying. But, even though he was used to it, it still hurt. He decided not to tell Sam he understood, because it was such a vast difference it would almost be disrespectful. Instead, he nodded. When he reached the top of the stairs, he looked around. "Man, this is bleak..." he muttered. The walls in the hallway were very plain without even a crappy hotel-esque painting of the horizon or the sea.

Sam grinned a little as he walked down the hallway, keeping track of the numbers on the doors. "The rooms are better, honestly. The walls don't change but the rooms do. Even if what you first find is what you don't like, you can still remodel it by just thinking about. It's pretty cool. And I'm sure there'll be some stuff already waiting for you," Sam said, slightly teasing.

"Here we are." He stopped in front of the door 222. "Your new home sweet home."

Andy laughed. "God I hope so. I could use a joint right now like you wouldn't believe." He wasn't sure he believed that the rooms could change just on a whim, but so far this whole place had been a big mindfuck, so he supposed anything was possible.

They stopped in front of Andy's room and he nodded, giving Sam a smile. "Thanks, man," he replied.

He supposed he'd check it out and hang out for a little while. Maybe finish that nap he'd been taking before he showed up here. "Don't be a stranger, all right?" he asked with a small smirk as he pushed the door open. They might not be friends in the real world, but Sam was a familiar face in a new and strange place. He wasn't planning on letting Sam make himself too scarce.

"Here." Sam tossed Andy the key so he'd be able to get into the room. "You might need that." He held out his hand, smiling. "You can count on it," he said in reply to Andy telling him to come around again. Truth be told, talking with Andy had made it almost start to feel like it had when he had been hanging out with his friends at Stanford... only Andy was different too so Sam didn't feel like he was on the outside as much as usual.

Andy caught the key and shook his head, rolling his eyes. "Yeah, I might, huh?" Sometimes, he astounded himself with his own stupidity. He let himself into the room and stuffed the key unceremoniously into his pocket.

Grinning, he took Sam's hand and shook it firmly. "Awesome," he replied.

Being around Sam was like being back in time when Webber wasn't a fucking psycho and they'd hung out all the time. That had been nice until it all came crashing down on him. Plus, Sam understood him and wasn't afraid of him, which, after the whole thing with Tracy, was beyond comforting.

He thought about inviting Sam in and then realized he was too drained for all that. He'd see Sam later, hopefully.

"Think I'm gonna finish that nap I started back in friggen FrontierLand," he said. "I'm wiped. Catch you later, right?" he asked.

"You bet," Sam affirmed. "It takes awhile to get used to this place. I'm still not quite there yet," he admitted. "But I'll see you around." He smiled and raised his hand in a goodbye. "Have a good nap." He tried not to let it show on his face he was relieved Andy would wake up and stay alive this time.

"Thanks again, man," Andy replied. He smiled and gave Sam a wave back, waiting in the doorway until Sam started to retreat back down the hall before closing himself in his room and, grinning at the likeness to the back of his van, dropped heavily down onto the mattress on the floor to finish the nap. Hopefully he'd wake up in the same place, this time, when he woke again.
