Corran sat in his X-wing with his baby son in his lap. Valin looked like he was more interested in his hand than in the controls of the starfighter. Corran held the child up as Valin wiggled around. His legs were strong enough so that he could stand with help but he wasn't able to walk on his own just yet.
Corran had just come back from a mission with Rogue Squadron. He'd been pleasantly surprised to find Mirax waiting with Valin to greet him at the main hanger at Headquarters. Mirax had gone to discuss something with Wedge, leaving Corran some time alone with his son.
Whistler, his R2-D2 astromech droid, hadn't been taken down from the starfighter yet. Corran was making sure everything was ready to go for his next flight, watching the maintenance crew scuttle around below him as he checked everything out.
Then, in the blink of an eye, everything just... changed. The scenery went from the hanger to wide open outdoors. Corran blinked again and looked around. "What the..." There were very few buildings around, considering he'd just come a planet completely covered by buildings and skyscrapers. "Whistler, what happened?" he demanded, sitting Valin down on his lap and wrapping an arm around him, hugging him close while he reached forward with one hand to access the controls.
Whistler responded in a few clicks and beeps.
"What do you mean, you don't know?! Where are we?!" Corran demanded.
Whistler informed him that the navigation system either was broken or they were somewhere very very far away from their home galaxy and considering they had just used the nav system, it must be the latter.
"That's impossible. We can't have just... been taken somewhere!" Corran protested. "Alright, hang on... Hold still, Valin," he told his son.
Valin just went "Ba!" and continued wiggling.
"I mean it, kid, I can't concentrate when you're squirming around like that." Corran tried to get Valin to sit still but knew it quickly was a lost cause.
Whistler spoke again, telling Corran that there was someone watching them. Corran shifted Valin so he could crank his head over the side and look down, not realizing that his X-wing had suddenly just appeared out of nowhere on some planet.
