Entry tags:complete, day 14, rose tyler, the doctor

Who? The Doctor & Rose Tyler
Where? Their room, and then the dolphin cove.
When? Day 14, morning.
What? Swimming with dolphins and other sealife.
Rating? TBD. No more than PG-13, I'd say.
Status? Complete.

For the last few days, the Doctor hadn't been too happy. Things on the planet seemed to be taking a more serious turn, and for once in his life he felt completely useless. He'd wasted so much of the TARDIS' energy sending out useless SOS signals, that he knew perfectly well would never be answered. Still, he had to have faith that something would work eventually, and so in the name of being more optimistic, the Doctor had headed to the restaurant and ordered an ice-cream sundae. And cheesecake. And tiramisu. And five glasses of pepsi. How the Time Lord remained so skinny was a mystery, and even he wasn't certain enough of his own biology to understand why he didn't feel violently sick, but rather felt extremely jubilant.

After his extremely healthy breakfast, the Doctor dashed back to the room he shared with Rose and banged on the door a couple of times before realising that he could just open the door himself. "Hi, hi, hi, rise and shine, it's a beautiful day and we have lots of wonderful things to do!" he exclaimed, far too loudly and high-pitched for such a time of day. But he was currently incapable of worrying about such things. He flopped down onto the bed beside her, leaning over and smiling widely in her face, forgetting all sense of personal boundries.

Rose had gotten to be a bit lethargic the last few days. She hadn't done much or gone out, having rather missed her mother for some reason she couldn't quite explain, other than the fact that it was her mum and she couldn't remember ever not at least talking to her for more than a couple of days. And she was restless, and getting a bit tired of this whole resort business. She had been sleeping when the Doctor began banging on the door, and she rolled over, pulling the pillow over her head.

Of course, that didn't work so very well when he flopped on the bed and it fell away. She half-whined, bringing her arm up over her eyes to block out the sun. "Like what?" she asked, wanting to take her time to let her eyes get used to the light.

The Doctor was completely oblivious to her human need for rest; he simply hated how slow his life was now that they were stuck on the stupid resort planet, and with such a large amount of sugar in his system he just wanted to get moving, and quickly.

"Dolphins!" he responded, as if it was simply the best idea he'd ever had in his life. "Please, please, please?" he whined, like a small child wanting to open presents early on Christmas morning.

"Dolphins?" she asked, her hand moving to cover a wide yawn as she blinked the sleep from her eyes. "What on earth are you on about?" She sat up, brushing her hair back from her face. Her mind was still a little muddled-- she didn't often take very well to be woken up before she was good and ready, but she'd gotten rather used to mornings like this from the Doctor. "Well, maybe not earth, but what about dolphins?"

The Doctor's smile grew even wider as she repeated the word back to him, and he started to nod his head very enthusiastically. "Dolphins! Remember you could see dolphins before it went all crazy and hurricaney?" he tried reminding her, pulling back slightly to sit cross legged on 'his side' of the bed, still facing her.

"We can go and see them! Aaaand we can swim with them. Even if some people say they're a bit scary. I don't think it can be true. Not for us, anyway. We're not going to be scared of dolphins, Rose, because they're lovely."

"Yeah?" she asked, glancing to the window. How early was it, anyhow? Her gaze moved to the clock, her brain still a little fuzzy as she blinked and leaned over to read it. "They'll let us swim with them?" She perked up a little at that and she looked back to him. "Really?"

He just kept nodding; he wasn't sure if he would be able to stop nodding easily. It would take at least a few seconds of slowing it down before physics would let it stop altogether, anyway.

"Yeah! The only rule is no killing, right? And we're not going to kill them!" he explained, even though he doubted that Rose had suspected that he really wanted to kill dolphins today. "They have snorkeling and stuff," he added, figuring that was enough of a sign that they'd be allowed to swim with the dolphins.

He rather resembled one of those dashboard doggies, Rose couldn't help but notice as he bobbed his head again and again and again. "So far as I know it is," she said, brightening a little. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm game." She was liking this idea more and more as she woke up. "Think I can grab some breakfast first?"

The Doctor's grin grew even wider as she agreed to his plans, and he let his body flop forward so he was sort of leaning across her with his legs still crossed, in an extremely awkward hug. "Oh, brilliant! It's going to be amazing!" he insisted, his voice slightly muffled now that he was face down in the bedsheets.

He groaned dramatically, pulling himself back into a sitting position as she mentioned breakfast. "Oh, I suppose so!" he moaned, as if it were the greatest hardship in the world, although it was quite clear that he wasn't serious.

Rose wrapped her arms around him in return, rather amused at the embrace. She lifted an eyebrow as he groaned (she knew he wasn't serious, but she sometimes enjoyed teasing him a bit). "It won't take me that long to eat, you know!"

"Ok, well why don't you get dressed, and I'll go and get you breakfast," he suggested, eager to speed up the process. "Bacon roll? Toast? Cuppa tea? All three? You're not getting cereal, because I'll get over-excited and spill it on my way back," he rambled on, rolling back off of the bed and heading for the door.

"And don't worry, I'll get a lid or something for the tea. Same reason," he said, flashing her a cheeky grin and slinking out of the room before she could complain.

"All three, if you don't mind, please!" she asked. "And...could I have one of those danishes that we had the other day? Please?" She leaned over to kiss him on the cheek before he rolled off the bed, and then moved to make her way over to the dresser, plucking out a bikini before moving to make her way into the bathroom for a quick shower.
