Day Thirteen
Who: Legolas and Aragorn
What: Interupted thoughts.
Where: By the beach house
When: Day 13, just after sunset.
Rating: PG, I guess.
Status: Complete

He'd avoided the Ranger since his conversation with Michiru, the girl with the hair like the sea, had brought up things he wasn't quite sure he was comfortable with. He, who could look into the eyes of a rampaging Orc army without flinching, with a smile on his lips and a song in his heart, was having a hard time facing the human Ranger who had, he was starting to suspect, stolen his heart somewhere along the line.

It might have been easier, if the human hadn't already been intended for another. Maybe not, though. Even without Arwen, Legolas was an Elf, and Aragorn was a human. Even the fact that they were both male paled in comparison to this one fact. If his father knew, he would probably disown him. It was complicated.

It wasn't an easy thing to avoid someone who has a room next door to yours, and he'd found himself feeling faintly ridiculous as he snuck past the other man's door. Aragorn would laugh if he came out, but he didn't. An Elf trying to be silent was pretty much impossible to hear. Once more, he made it past without incident, and walked slowly towards the water. After what had happened with Riddick earlier in the day, he needed to get away, just away from everything. He still had trouble believing the man had kissed him. It was just as unbelievable as if Gimli himself had done the same thing. Only he wasn't even friends with the bald man, and had been quite comfortable with their status as low-key enemies.

All elves are drawn to the sea. Usually, it's because they want to go home, want to go to Valinor. That urge had been taken away when he was brought here, and he couldn't regret it. Living here forever would be hell if he'd been constantly longing to go to a place that didn't even exist here. But the desire to be near the sea was strong, not exactly a compulsion, but still an enjoyable experience.

He gazed out to sea, wandering across the sands no more as he came near the beach house where he'd been swimming with Marcus, and the place where he'd brought his Ranger after rescuing him from the storm. There was a slight wind coming off the ocean, and it sent his cloak and hair fluttering gently back. He felt at peace, looking off into the waves. The sun went down as he watched, and it was beautiful. Only as the tension slowly drained out of him did he realize just how violently disturbed he'd been by the whole thing with Riddick.

Breathing clearly was not needed for him today. Because intently he watched the Elf. He listened to him, watched as he moved closer and he was sure that Legolas was going to kiss him which of course had so many questions within his head.

What did it mean? If Aragorn told Legolas the truth would he understand? Would he accept his heart, his love? But there was no time to ask these things. There was no time to find out if Legolas was going to kiss him. Because before Aragorn could do more than lick his lips and try to breathe, Legolas was on his feet and he was gone.

The Ranger sat there blinking for a while. Then once he gathered himself he just felt numb and incomplete. Like he wanted to truly see where this was headed, but knowing full well he could not. Running a hand through his hair, Aragorn remained where he was for a long time. He honestly wished he could tell Legolas the truth but he knew he would never be able to do that.
