Day 11 // A Time For Theatrics
Who: Joker ([info]thekillerjoke) and Edward Cullen ([info]crooked_smile)
What: After deciding just exactly how to cause havoc in the place, he decides to check out the theater.
When: Day 11, 10:00am
Where: The Theater
Rating: TBD
Status: COMPLETE

It must have taken out more from him to rip Harley off of him while they slept because his arms were killing him. Joker wasn't exactly ridiculously muscular or anything of the sort-- he simply considered himself a 'well rounded' physique. Seriously, who wouldn't fall for his looks? So. Harley arriving in Mirage was still attacking his conscious. What had he done to deserve this pain and nerve? As much as he loved his blueberry muffin, he considered himself a free men in all aspects and forms. The thoughts of how to deal with Harley were going to have to wait of course. At the moment, he had other more important things in mind.

"Hello Mirage!"

Joker smiled like a child on Christmas as his eyes followed the invisible sound waves that bounced along the walls and disappeared into enormous red velvet curtains somewhere in the back of the place. Even his steps upon the wooden floor seemed to be echoing about. The acoustics were great, all he needed was a show now. He had been up early rhyming and scheming and making blue prints of what exactly he would be up to. Now, during this time, a small pamphlet had appeared with some resort information that eventually led him to the theater here. Oh how grand, he thought to himself as he zoomed from one side of the stage to another, this whole world was turning into his playground!

A playground, now that was a thought that put a smile on his face.

"Perhaps a play showing of Frankenstein... except with some 'help' from the audience." He laughed mercilessly rubbing his hands together in devilish plot. "Or perhaps as an introduction to the opening theme park, I'll present Alice in wonderland? Though... that's going to be a rather huge cast..."

The theater was enormous, he hadn't expected a resort theater to be this big. The construction seemed rather modern but the feeling was that of an antique theater which he liked. Many possibilities were brewing in that demented mind of his, all he needed was to calm down and get his thoughts straight.

"Think man, think!." He hissed at himself as he took a seat on a solitary chair he had found backstage and moved to the center stage. His clothing was back to that purple suit of his and he slowly sat down taking the stance of that famous sculpture of the thinker with a theatrical look across his face.

Edward was growing restless. Not that being cooped up with the love of his (un)dead life was boringpersay, nothing about bella was ever boring.

Still, being a vampire, and a wanderer at that, he had decided to do a bit of exploring now that the storm had cleared up,and he was sure bella, wherever she had gone to, was doing the exact same thing.Either that or she was having one of her human moments, something she was prone to do from time to time.

So he found himself wandering about, closely examiining places that he hadnt gotten around to seeing yet, and soon found himself outside the theateres doors.

A smoky grin came to his face.He loved the theatere, had attented dozens of plays both before and after his 'deathday',so it was with a curious heart and childs wonderment that he entered.

His smile dipped slightly when he saw it was empty, appearntly not everyone had the same enthusiam about plays as he did?either that or their simply werent enough people yet to have said plays.

Bright topez eyes slowly scanned the room, pausing at the..clown?on the stage. "Oh hello."Edward muttered, waving half-heartedly. He was sure the man,or whatever he was he could never be sure anymore, was on break and didnt want to disturb him.

Joker's mind was going through tunnels of ideas trying to pick any random thought in general and put it to the test. By what he had right now, he was debating whether to hold a tragedy or a comedy. What matter most was that people would enjoy it and obviosuly; as evil and sadistic as people are, he knew that a Tragedy would best fit.

...But what was so bad about a a comedy?

He had been slouching there minding his own when he heard the voice of someone that set him jumping into the air.

"Why, hello hello!" He cheered taking a bow for the young gentlemen to see. How distasteful, he thought to himself as he stood back upright, I don't even have a show ready yet.

"I didn't think this place would have much of a hit, you know. I found this theater empty and alone." His voice with thick with deciet and excitement as he tried to figure out just what to make of this newcomer.

Edward didnt jerk as the man stirred, greeting him rather enthusiasticly that he had a hard time beliving the clown-man. Still, humans were an odd unchanging breed so edward decided to play nice, depsite the fact that the clown was kind of giving him the creeps.

"I didnt think it would be so empty as well"He answered.Edward frowned, running his hand over the soft fuzz that seemed to occupy every chair. It feltold fashioned, like the apollo or the Vaudeville, but he doubted that the planet had merly set it up that way, to make them feel more at home. "I guess most people arnt just the theatre going type round here."He added, shrugging.

"Are you a performer?"He asked, tilting his head curiously before realizing was being rude and thrust his hand out to shake the other mans "Names Edward cullen"

The Joker was impressed by the man awkwardness about the place but he honored his good eyes at the surroundings. With a small movement of fixing his hair here and there, he stretched his own gloved hand (free of any joy buzzers of course) and shook his hand firmly.

"Edward Cullen, what a strong name! As for me," he did a theatrical look about the place as if their conversation was being eavesdropped. "You can call me the Joker."

"Don't get me wrong," He quickly took back his old attitude of grandeur as he walked about the stage looking at the invisible audience. "Despite the fact I'm talented in more ways then one, I'm more of an entertainer. You've just caught me musing what play would be good to show to these folks here."

The Joker scratched his chin looking about the theater before turning his painted face towards him, "Tell me Edward," he asked deviously calm, "do you like to act?"

"The..joker?"He asked, giving him the once over. What kind of name was the joker?Edward frowned but didnt ponder over it,after all he knew a few vamps that called themselfs things like 'capt. kill'.Unusuall?maybe, but his kind always did have a flare for the dramtic."Thats a..odd name."He mused, shrugging.

Edward watched the man pace about warily, as he had with david.JUst because he seemed human didnt mean he wasnt, and if he was well..bella had proved that not all humans were content to bumble through life doing the same old things. "oh thats a good idea.theres all kinds of plays..mcbeth..hamlet-"He paused, racking his mind for a really good one.He knew loads, centuries of being undead meant centuries of spare time.

The jokers question caught him off guard "do I like to act?"He repeated, confused. "I dont know..I dont think I ever have before"He said slowly, thinking it over.It couldnt be that bad right?I mean if he could act human he was sure he could act in a play.

This new comer was rather strange, Joker figured. Not only did he give off the airs of being different, he seemed to be thinking too much. No why would someone think so much in a simple trivial meeting? Could it be his handsome charm? No, probably not. Was this Edward someone he had threatened before? Nope, certainly not. Joker figured he'd remember someone so pale like that. At the sound of having Edward hooked on his question, he quickly took up the attitude of some kind of director.

"Oh but it's simple!" Joker gesticulated moving his hands about as he took a firm grip of Edwards arm and whispered away pointing at an invisible audience before them on the seats. He licked his lips that were but inches from Edwards.

"Imagine yourself alone on the stage, thousands of people looking up at you from those seats all waiting to be entertained." With a small swift movement, he stretched his gloved hand into the crowd and pushed it about at the place as if the air in front of them was water he didn't want to interrupt.

"Now, all the mass of people here want different things. Some want comedy, some want tragedies but what matters the most is those select few that are just here to watch what is given. We call them the nobody's when truly they are the reason why an actor acts. So!"

He pulled away from him making his way to the front of the stage bringing up his arms like a martyr seeking salvation.

"With all these hungry people ready for entertainment on their own personal levels, what is a fella to do? Simple. You act as normal as you can. Every individual these days is nothing but a jumble of fluff he learns from the guy next to him, and that guy learned it from the other guy until everybody just acts so monotonously the same whenever the stage lights go off." He was becoming very excited with his small session of lecture that he almost forgot that he was trying to get Edward recruited that he simply just turned and smacked his lips oncemore.

"The point of the tale is to be yourself. Everyone likes the tragic heroes and; let's face, you and I, we're stuck in a tragedy of our own."

"Simple..right"He muttered with a curt nod, watching the strange man trapse about. He seemedlike he knew what he was doing, but edward was still wary.

He snorted when the joker metioned acting normal, but didnt call him on it. He was farfrom normal, but he wasnt about to tell him that, espically since some humans had a hard time beliving his kind existed. "I uh..I doubt most people here are normalbut I think I get it, follow the lines and whatnot right?"He asked.

Edward frowned, looking out at the empty seats. He didnt exactly have stage fright, far from it, he just..didnt fit in around people, espically large groups of people. "ah but some people like their tragedies."He said slowly, thoughtfully.

"No,no, no" He shook his head with a wry smile looking at the boy curiously. "You're trying to avoid something, something you're afraid I won't understand perhaps." He said as he walked back to Edward's side. There was something about the way he pronounced normal that gave a mere hint that he wasn't mocking him but Edward himself. If there was anyone who knew how to reap more information then what was given it was certainly Joker.

"Who are we mere mortals to question the exact meaning of normality?" He asked raising a finger into the heaven's like a teacher with too much meds in her system. "By what I meant with normal is to be yourself. Surely, I can get your life and put it into a book that will eventually get played as a movie someday. A wise man ones said that an Actor is born to play a part not the other way around."

What was trying to imply here was the over all judgment of mankind. There was once a very good play he once read that shared that exact meaning. It was called Impromptu but it only had an astonishing cast of four individuals. It was like a soul searching event, how each character represented the four epic fails of human nature. Perhaps Joker was asking to much from this boys knowledge so he took it down a notch and kept his muses to himself.

"My job will be to find a part that will rightfully suit you without you straining yourself. Humans can act, they live off hypocrisy... I'll just need to choose a good play."

edward flinched at his words."Why would I be avoiding anything?"He asked, tilting his head curiously. He wasnt exactly hiding his vampirism, not sharing that fact sure but he had never hid it, even from bella.

He chuckled softly as the joker lectured posed, though he had to agree, who was he to argue about what was normal and what wasnt?it wasnt like he had ever been normal, at least not for the past 100 some odd years anyway. He shrugged at the man's words "I dont think you would want to write a book about my life, its not all that interesting really.."He lied, his eyes running over the empty theater absently.

His eyes widened a bit when at the metion of good plays, and edward couldnt help but grin "theres a wealth of good matrial to be used, I know of many stories that people here would probaly flock to come see."He admitted, looking sheepish."perhaps you'd be interested in hamlet?or A Midsummer Night's Dream?"He asked.

Joker knew far to well the works of Shakespeare but he had a hard time trying to figure out how he would kill someone in it. Sure in Hamlet he could switch prop knives into real knives and let the big finish end with everyone. But then, what would that be if everyone died until the end? It would be so much funnier if people kept dropping on the stage like flies without anyone realizing it.

"I'm thinking of something more.... adventurous." He smacked his lips in thought pacing once more thinking away at his schemes. "Perhaps I could work with Hamlet... yet that modern Guildenstern and Rosencrants Are Dead was hilarious!" he gave his laugh as another play came to mind.

"Wait, what about The Spanish Tragedy? That would be intresting wouldn't it?"

Edward looked thoughfull for a moment, pondering on all of this.He knew plays like the back of his hand, though most he knew were before the turn of the century, and he had seen them live, but he wasnt about to tell this strange clown like man that.

"mm that is a good one, havnt seen it for a while though"He answered with a shrug, taking a seat on the edge of the stage and letting his feet dangle slightly. "though if your looking for classics theres also faust,,or sweeny todd"He added with a thoughtful glance.

"Oh what goo are classics now-a-days." Joker laughed taking out a sort of butterfly knife from his pocket as he played with it carelessly. He was a man of skill and obviously, cutting himself was nothing of a worry or danger. Pain was a thing of life, it was what made humans mortal. Of course, that didn't mean he would go about causing himself pain on purpose.

"I would have liked Faust but still, it's too cold in my opinion. The Spanish tragedy will do good...with... a few changes of props." His hands stopped as they twirled the knife and starred at it.

But of course, he thought to himself as he raised the butterfly knife into the light, watching as the hilt of the blade gave an ominous shine. What if I could make them real? He brought a hand slamming into the knife only to see it extract- it was a fake despite how real it looked. He would change the fake knives into real ones and then AND HOPEFULLY THEN, they would all stab themselves silly to their graves. Oh what a fantastic idea indeed.

He turned swiftly to look at Edward with that same devilish grin and laughed that blood churning cry. "I got it, it will be grand! I need to make flyers, audtition schedules. Oh this WILL be interesting!"

Edward snorted, watching warily as the joker removed the knife and toyed with it "you can never go wrong with a classic though, most people seem to enjoy them"He said with a shrug. He knew he loved the classic, then again he was almost a century old and set in his ways, so it wasnt exactly like he could speak for the mortals.

He frowned slightly at the metion of faust being to cold, but let it go, each ot his own right?"yeah maybe.."He muttered. His eyes widened as the clown-man moved as if to stab himself, but thankfully it was only a prop knife,so he at least didnt have to steel himself from the overwhelming smell of human blood, thatwould have caused a scene,an unwanted scene at that.

He matched the jokers smile with a wary one of his own "that sounds great"He said, his voice just the tinyiest bit strained to sound pleasent,as he was begining to think this mortal(if indeed he was a mortal)had gone mad.

"Hmm I should perhaps get started on the flyers. You have done so much." He said mockingly talking to Edward as if he were some cliche guidance counselor. All he needed to do was give him a pat in the back but no. Not tonight.

"I suppose I'll be taking my leave then. I'm not sure how much or props this place has to offer but I will surely get them somehow." He said going back to his business like tone of mutiny he tended to take on after every good idea came bustling in. It was interesting all of this, he wouldn't have a batman to bother him.

Edward raised an eyebrow, the mans impatience was not lost on him.

"I can help with that,if you'd like"He offered.Which was rare, edward rarely liked to help humans, watch them sure, but help them was something esme would do,or alice.

"when do you need them done?"

It caught the Joker slightly off guard. He could have sworn that the man standing before him gave airs of anything but humane. Who knows, perhaps Jokers assumption of the young generations to be anything but caring. To be offering his help was something Joker could never understand. Yet... he wasn't showing his surprise.

"Well that's very nice of you." He said with a gleeful grin as he tapped his chin. "I'll probably be going into phase one of my plan perhaps in a few days. For the moment, have my card."

He slipped his hands into his coat pocket and extracted a Joker playing card holding it up for him to see. There was obviously no phone or anything written on it that could give Edward any idea as to where he lived but Joker found it amusing either way.

"When I call for everyone, show the crew this card and you'll be getting front seats on everything. You got that?"

Edward frowned, turning the card to and fro, before looking back up at the clown like man "cute"he muttered, jamming it in his pocket.

He nodded absently, letting his gazer fall to the empty theatere once again. "I could probaly put up some ads, casting call or whatever,if you need help.Sets arnt easy to build all that fast after all.."Of course he could probaly have 3 or 4 them up in a day,but he didnt want to share that tidbit of information with this creepy guy,at least not yet, trust after all had to be earned.

Besides, humans tended to freak out when they learned that vampires were indid real.

The idea was rather promising. To see one individual interested in something like this was; after all, a positive beginning. He stood back watching the man curiously as he brought his tongue curling around his ruby lips.

It was always so enticing to see someone hiding emotions. Humans were just that predictable to him. There was something about that man that made him question if he was really some type of other higher being... or some sort of vigilante.

For once, in the few days he had strolled towards this world, he remembered back on his arch nemesis. What was Batman up to, would he be looking for him? Would he be rejoicing?

No. Gotham was probably worse than ever without Joker's 'fatherly care' on her. Some places you know, some places just needed a strong firm hand to keep things in place.

"I will certainly call for your assistance. I'll probably feel rather more confident if a strong man like yourself helped with my sets. You know." He faked a crippled man. "Bad back and all."

Edward snorted, leaping lightly from his seat on the edge of the stage, and landing lightly on his feet, all in one fluid movement like a cat.

"glad to hear it..Uh,I guess"he answered with a nod.He gave the theatre one last once over and slowly headed for the door. "anything else you need help with before I depart?"he bowed deeply, like that of an actor during curtian call.

"Nothing yet." Joker laughed at his small act patting his stomach heartily. He was exaggerating it but, what? He was Joker, he knew funny.

"Get going you weird young man full of youth and spirit!"He shouted still laughing as he took a seat back in the chair that he had placed in the middle of the stage for his pondering benefit. "Get going!"

He would probably be staying for a bit longer to see if the theater needed some...improvements. He wouldn't want Edward to spoil his surprise.
