♦Who: Michiru and Tyler
♦When: Day 10, morning
♦What: Annoyances
♦Where: The Restaurant
♦Rating: PG-13 to be safe
♦Status: Complete

Michiru hadn't slept for more than maybe two hours, and then it had only been out of sheer exhaustion. Finally she'd gotten a shower and dressed, figuring she might as well. The storm was still raging outside, which didn't help her mood any. She tried to read a little. The Planet had been very helpful in providing a nice selection of books, but she felt to restless to really get into any of them. She'd tried sketching, but the only things she could seem to draw were things that reminded her of Haruka. Finally in frustration she tossed the sketchbook and pencils in a conveniently provided waterproof bag and found the umbrella she's acquired yesterday. It was this room. It was too perfect an imitation of home. Everything brought back memories, but she still didn't have the heart to change anything.

She was going out. If she remembered correctly, the restaurant wasn't that far from her room. She could get a light breakfast and maybe chase away the memories for a bit. She carefully made her way down to the main doors, and carefully surveyed the storm. Like most things, the storm had its ebbs and flows, so she waited until a slightly calmer patch before dashing out into the rain. She felt the water splash around her ankles and tried to ignore the water worming its way down the back of her dress.

Finally she made it, and slipped inside the other building with relief. There didn't seem to be too many other people, which was a blessing. The last thing she really wanted right now was to have to deal with any of her strange fellow residents. She found a seat by the window and ordered a pot of green tea from one of the ever present golems. She took out her sketchbook to try to draw some more, but she found herself staring out the window instead. The rain and wind beat an almost hypnotic pattern of sound that managed to soothe and irritate her at the same time. It was so easy to just get lost in the sound.

“Why waste time beating around the bush?” Tyler replied, his eyes following her movement as he settled more comfortably into the chair. “I’ve always been very direct”, he added before he answered her question. “I’m from Canada, Winnipeg to be exact”. Tyler’s eyes went to the window where the storm was still going strong. “We don’t exactly get weather like this back home. Makes a person just want to curl up in bed the whole day”.

He glanced back at Michuru. “What about you?” Tyler asked before clarifying his question. “Does Japan get many hurricanes?” After that question, Tyler decided to be a bit more forward. "What you say we go for a walk inside? Have you had a chance to check out the sitting room or..." He tried to think of somewhere quiet. "Or the library?"

She sighed inwardly. She was hardly one to dance around questions or issues, but she found herself wishing for just a little more typical Japanese politeness. She followed Tyler's gaze out the window, and stared at the water washing down the window. For a brief moment she thought she saw a familiar blond figure running through the rain, but she blinked and it was gone. Just her mind playing tricks on her again.

"Can't stay in bed" she said softly, to herself. Part of her had wanted to stay in bed, curled up and trying to beat back the memories. But she was too strong a person to wallow in misery like that. She pulled her attention away from the window and gave Tyler a smile.

"Yes, sometimes. It is an island chain after all" she said, keeping her voice light and conversational. Not promising anything. She laughed lightly at his suggestion. At least he hadn't been so forward as to suggest his room. Normally this would be where she would politely refuse, and go her separate way, but something made her want to continue the game. There was a slightly cold spark in her eye as she carefully drained the last of her tea and closed her sketchbook. "The library perhaps. The Planet seems to have provided me with some ... fascinating books, but I would like to see more.

“The library it is then”, Tyler agreed as he climbed to his feet. Silently he hoped Brigitte wasn’t there already as she had told him last night she had pretty much lived at the library. Screw it if she is there, Tyler decided. I’ll just tell her to fuck off. “Shall we?” He said out loud to Michuru with a gesture but Tyler didn’t offer his arm or any of that gentlemanly bullshit. As they walked to the library, Tyler attempted to make small talk.

“What do you do for a living?” he asked the green haired girl. Her age was a little hard to judge so Tyler wasn’t sure if she was still in highschool or if she was graduated. “Are you in college? That’s what I’m doing…or what I was doing before I got hauled here. I was studying medicine and working at a clinic for drug addicts. Not the greatest job in the world but it had its perks”.

It didn’t take long for them to reach the library and Tyler grabbed the door, holding it open for Michuru. “Ladies first”.

Michiru shook her head slightly at Tyler's lack of gentelemanly behavior, but didn't feel the need to comment. She was just trying to distract herself with a little harmless flirtation. No real need to get hung up on propriety.

"I was in high school" she said, giving him a sideways look as they walked. "Twelfth grade. And playing violin professionally" And of course, fighting to save the world from Galaxia, but he didn't need to know any of that. She sighed and let her gaze unfocus as they walked. So much had been left unsaid, undone. She'd never know what had happened.

She was surprised that he was studying medicine. She hadn't pegged him as the intellectual type. "I have a friend who wants to be a doctor" she said as she entered the library. At least he held the door for her.

"Wow, high school? I thought you were at least in University", Tyler admitted as he entered the library behind Michuru. "And playing the violin professionally while you're still in high school? That's pretty impressive. Most girls I know that age would be way too immature to be that dedicated". Already Tyler was making assumptions about the girl, deciding she was intelligent but probably a wall-flower due to her interests. Playing the violin didn't exactly scream Miss popularity. He just hoped she wasn't overly shy.

"So this friend, what kind of medicine is he or she interested in?" Tyler inquired but he was more curious to learn the friend's gender. If it was a he then it was possibly Michuru's boyfriend if she had one. A boyfriend wouldn't deter Tyler's flirting with her but it was good to know what situation he was getting himself into. "Do you have a boyfriend back home Michuru?"

Michiru gave a small laugh when he said he thought she was in University. Most people did. "I am rather mature for my age" she said with a coy glance at him. She was naturally mature, but fighting a war also had matured her far past her years. She wandered towards one of the bookshelves, her eyes glancing over the rows of books without really seeing them. She ran her hand gently over a row of spines and twirled to face Tyler.

"She. I think Ami was interested in pediatric medicine, but I never did ask" Her mouth quirked slightly as she realized that she didn't know details like that. She'd never had a chance to get close to her fellow water senshi.

"And no, no boyfriend" she said, with another coy smile.

“A pretty girl like you doesn’t have a boyfriend?” Tyler asked teasingly as he moved a little closer to the green haired girl. “That’s a shame”, he added as he leaned against the bookcase along side of Michuru. “I can’t say much since I didn’t have time for a girlfriend back between work or school”. Not that I really wanted one he silently added.

“But it can be lonely sometimes, especially here where everyone is pretty much a stranger and there’s nothing to do”. Tyler glanced around the library, “Nothing like jobs or school work I mean. There’s stuff to do here but more like we’re just killing time. You know what I mean?” The blond turned his blue eyes back on Michuru and leaned a little closer, perhaps too close for comfort.

“What about you Michuru, do you find it lonely here?”

Michiru gave a small light, and entirely false laugh at his comment about her not having a boyfriend. Her insides twisted as the comment reminded her of Haruka, of exactly how alone she was here.

She tried to ignore exactly how close Tyler was, and the slowly growing intuitive feel that this might not have been the best idea. She listened as he babbled, trying not to show how boring she thought he was becoming. That was always the problem. So few people could actually hold her interest for very long. As he leaned closer, she backed up a pace, almost instinctively.

"Ah, I have only been here a few days" she said, her tone still light, but with a bit more firmness behind it. She was going to have to draw this game to a close before he started getting the wrong idea. "I haven't had a chance to get lonely yet" A lie, but he didn't need to know that. "You will forgive me, but I have something else I must attend to. Please forgive my rudeness" With that she slipped around him and out of the library, trying to shake the slimy feeling off.
