Day 02
Who: Maxxie and Brigitte and Crichton
What: Arrival of Maxxie Oliver
When: Late Morning
Where: The Bowling Alley
Rating: at least PG13 for now
Status: Complete

Maxxie sat quietly on a bench outside his school. It wasnt that he was in a mood, just difficult to get a word in with the friends he had. Their drama-filled lives seemed so much more exciting than his. Each one spouting out some horror or sitting glumly. In some ways, it made Maxxie feel boring that he didnt have as many problems but in truth he was just a naturally happy soul. It took very little to make him smile and only devastating misfortune to truly upset him.

The conversation soon changed to plans for the evening and before lunch was over Maxxie had his mind on what to wear to the first party of the weekend. Afternoon classes sped by. Anwar continuously chatted about the girls who would be there while the young blond nodded intermittantly, his own mind on boys and possibilities for the evening.

The party was already in full swing when Maxxie arrived. Anwar, who stood taller than most of the other dancers, waved the blond boy out onto the dance floor. Maxxie's best friend was all but bouncing up and down with excitement as he introduced the girl he danced with to Maxxie, then leaned close to whisper at his ear, "A girl! with boobs!"

Blue eyes couldnt help but glance at the girl's chest although Maxxie wasnt really interested. He beamed up at Anwar, infected by his excitement, and returned the tall boy's 'high five.' His best friend went back to dancing, giving Maxxie an out to mingle with the rest of the party. Chris caught his eye next, it was time to check on the chemical make-up of the night's festivities.

After partaking in the favors that Chris had to offer, Maxxie hopped out onto the dance floor, joining the crowd of moving bodies as he let the music wash over him. His dancing looked no different from the mass of others on the floor and yet, others gravitated to him. Soon he danced with five others of both sexes. Maxxie had a way about him that made others feel comfortable, loved, and happy. With a laugh, he bumped hips with Michelle then wrapped an arm around Sid. His chemical enhancement was kicking in and all was well with the world.

Out of the corner of his eye, Maxxie caught sight of a still figure. His attention was drawn immediately since everyone else was in movement. The handsome boy leaned against the wall, looking perfectly comfortable, eyes glued on Maxxie as he danced. There was something familiar about the boy, and something about the look in his eye that told Maxxie that it was time to break away from his group of friends.

With a mumble at their ears, something about the bathroom, he began to weave through the crowd, never breaking eye contact with his destination.

"Maxxie," the boy greeted with a nod.

Although an answering smile broke across his face, Maxxie couldnt for the life of him remember exactly where he had met the boy or his name.

"Spliff?" the boy urged, nodding toward the door as he offered a small glance at the fatty he concealed in his hand.

"Yeah, Mate," Maxxie nodded, eager to go somewhere quieter.

The boy took his hand and lead him without a further word toward the back door.

The night was cool but clear and Maxxie took a deep breath of the fresh air. Maybe he had met the boy at another party...maybe while he was pissed and just couldnt remember his name. How embarrassing!

He continued to follow as he was lead down a short path into the woods, the handsome boy halting suddenly to lean back against a tree, the arm that had held Maxxie's hand now dropping to catch his waist.

No more thought went into the boy's name or the spliff they were going out to smoke. Maxxie leaned in and pressed himself against the warm body, arms lifting to find muscled shoulders as his full lips were captured in a kiss to make his head spin.

A moan escaped Maxxie's lips and as he pushed forward to grind himself against the hot body pressed to his, he felt a sudden change. No longer were his lips attached in a deep needful kiss, no longer was there a body arching forward and supporting his. His eyes flew open, his legs stumbling to catch himself, now off balance.

"What the...?" Maxxie began, blue eyes darting about at the bright surrounding. He was no longer outside, no longer in the dark woods. He strained to hear the pounding beats of the party, shaking his head in an attempt to remember what was starting to look like a very bad trip. How much time had he forgotten? Where the fuck was he?

Crichton had set his clock to wake him up this morning to meet Brigitte, the new girl who had arrived just yesterday. He couldn't help but see some resemblance between the girl and his beloved Aeryn Sun; of course the young teen wasn't dressed in military gear and hefting a Heavy Peace Keeper Pulse Rifle, but she was tough and she resembled her somewhat in coloring. He liked the girl...he wasn' so sure about her sister, but he wouldn't count her out quite yet.

After taking a quick shower, he dressed in black jeans and a black tee shirt and buckled his holster low on his hips. Once he settled 'Winona' in place, he decided to go through the Cafe to grab a danish and a cup of coffee.

Crichton smiled when he saw Jun in the Cafe, "Hey! Good Morning, Jun! Ogenki desu ka?". Jun returned his smile and politely informed the man that he was very well and thanked him.

Chrichton was to meet Brigitte outside the lobby to start their tour, since they were housed in different buildings; passing through the lobby, he couldn't resist checking out the key cubby holes...and, sure enough, one was blinking...he quickly snatched it and shoved it into his pocket. He whistled as he passed through the lobby doors and out into the open air. Today was going to be a good day! he'd show Brigitte around the Ranch and they would greet a new arrival together.

Brigitte awoke to find herself still in the room John had shown her yesterday and once again remembered where she was. The teenager if this was a good thing or a bad thing but decided it had to be better than be locked up in Ghost's cellar. Dressing quickly, Brigitte still couldn't get over this room and how perfect it was. It was like someone knew Brigitte's exact tastes and made this room just for her, which would imply someone knew she was coming here for a while now.

Still, Brigitte couldn't spend too much time mulling it over, especially when she glanced at the clock and saw she would be late meeting John if she didn't hurry. Throwing a pair of jeans, a long sleeved green shirt and black boots, Brigitte hurried out the door. The sun was bright and hot as it had been the day before and immediately Brigitte wished she had worn a short sleeved shirt. Too bad she couldn't. The teenager's arms were covered with thin vertical scars that she usually tried to keep hidden.

She ignored the heat and made a beeline for outside of the main lobby where she promised to meet John. But Brigitte saw that someone else was out around there too, just off a little in the distance. Young blond man looking very confused. The teen considered approaching him but decided to wait for John, just in case.

The bowling alley was nearly empty, only a few residents were ready for the sport before noon. Maxxie's eyes narrowed at a couple who appeared to be enjoying themselves. He didnt recognize them. In fact, he didnt recognize any of this. What had Chris given him? Maybe he took a bus to London or something? So much for his friends watching out for him.

"Last time I trust Chris with my pharm needs," the young blond muttered as he stepped toward the exit of the brightly lit bowling alley. "Wonder if he'll nip round and take me home," Maxxie grinned despite his confusion, his soft English accent still a bit slurred from his partying, thinking of his fun in the woods, "Would have to black out 'fore the best part of it too! Bet 'e could do more than kiss."

A female at the counter raised an eyebrow as he passed, causing the sudden realization of his dress. Maxxie had removed his shirt at some point during the dancing or snogging, Cassie's pink boa was flipped garrishly around his neck. Laughing blue eyes met those admiring his fashion sense, the smile enough to disarm anyone. She giggled and waved as he pushed through the exit.

Once outside his progress slowed to a stop, his head turnign this way and that to take in the unfamiliar scenery. It wasnt London...at least, he didnt think it was. Pulling out his wallet, he stood with shoulders slumped, checking to see how much money he had spent during his black-out. He'd lost about 12 hours from his approximation but it didnt look like he had spent any of his money.

Under normal circumstances, Maxxie would have been afraid, at least serious, but his system was still impaired to the point that laughter was his only reaction. With a chuckle, he plopped himself down right where he was, lying back and watching the clouds float by overhead with much amusement.

Crichton leaned against one of the large wooden posts that supported the roof over the lobby entrance, thoroughly enjoying his raspberry-cheese danish and his cup of coffee. This was one thing that Mirage could claim a victory over Moya...good ol human food! Well, he hadn't had to run from any goose-stepping peace keepers or murderous scarrans either...that rated right up there with the primo chow! He swallowed the last bite of the rich pastry and chased it with the hot, black coffee,"Ahhhhhh", he exclaimed out loud.

Indulging in a luxurious morning stretch, Crichton turned to look out over the grounds and he noticed a young man he'd never seen before. He was hard to miss, laying back on the ground laughing at the sky, shirtless...and wearing a pink boa! Patting his pocket, Crichton chuckled, "I think I've just found your owner".

Just as Chrichton was beginning to walk over to the strangely dressed and oddly amused young man,Brigitte appeared through the lobby doors. "Brigitte! Good morning, Sweetheart! Sleep well?". He pulled the key from his pocket and pointed to the boy a short distance off,"Take a look. We have another new arrival", he winked at Brigitte, "He's a snappy dresser too". Taking a few steps in the boy's direction, he jerked his head, indicating that she should join him, "C'mon, let's go greet the young fella...he looks about your age. maybe he'll want to sign on with our tour this morning".

It took but a matter of minutes for Crichton and Brigitte to reach the spot where the bemused boy was sprawled out. With his hands on his hips and a big white smile on his face, John Chrichton looked down and greeted, "Hey there, Sparky! Welcome to Mirage. I'm John and this is Brigitte. If you've got questions, I've got answers".

Brigitte rose her eyebrows as the sound of laughter reached her ears. Okay, so he wasn't confused but Brigitte was. Did this mean new people would be arriving here everyday? She walked over to John who was relaxing with a cup of coffee and heading toward the new arrival. "Yes, I did", Brigitte replied, a little surprised with her own answer to John's question.

It had been a long time since Brigitte had a good night's sleep but last night was probably the best she had ever had. An amused look flickered on her face as John winked at her and she followed his gaze back to the younger boy.

Seeing no problem with including the stranger, Brigitte nodded and followed John over to the laughing lad. After John gave his introduction, Brigitte spoke. "Hello", the slender brunette said to Maxxie before glancing at John. "I think he's dealing with waking up here better than I or Ginger did yesterday. He seems downright cheerful".

Judging from Maxxie's demeanor, Brigitte almost had to wonder if he wasn't high. She had spent the last few weeks at rehab clinic in Canada so she knew some of the signs even though her own drug of choice didn't produce that happy feeling so many other users sought. Oh well, even if he was using, Brigitte didn't care. To each his own, she inwardly thought before offering her hand. "Need some help getting up?"

Maxxie's revelry was interrupted by a sound in the distance. He glanced over to see a man in black with both arms above his head, stretching like a satisfied cat. A pretty girl followed the man as they both headed in his direction. The two seemed only slightly surprised to see him there and wondered if perhaps they had already been introduced.

Rolling on his side, he propped his head in his hand, grinning up at the two as they greeted him. "It's Maxxie, mate," he responded to John, beaming at the nickname. He nodded his greeting to Brigitte while grasping her hand and hopping up. The young girl could have been one of his classmates and he was sure they were of the same age. "Thanks. Is 'e your dad then?" Maxxie asked, nudging his head toward the tall man in black.

If only his friends back home had dads who looked like John. He laughed out loud, holding his stomach at his own imagination as he thought of all the excuses his group of friends would come up with to show up unexpected at Brigitte's door. After noticing the curious expressions at his outburst, he explained, "Dads don't look like that in Bristol."

"Speakin' of Bristol," Maxxie continued, "we had a right fine piss up last night and I, uh," blue eyes glanced around again, "must've hitched here?" He ended the sentence in question, hoping they might know the answer. Brows lowered as Maxxie struggled to remember, scratching his head in confusion, but then quickly gave the two a reassuring smile. "My mum'll be a mess if I don't call soon."

Crichton turned to Brigitte and smiled. She really was one tough little cookie. John wondered what nightmares life had thrown her way since she'd been infected with this werewolf crap...wasn't frelling fair. Chuckling, Chrichton had to agree with her assessment of their friend on the ground, "Cheerful sounds about right. When I was your age, we called it 'stoned', but cheerful sounds nicer".

He smiled back at the almost deliriously happy young man on the ground and thought back, Man, were D.K. and I ever this young or this happy? Did either one of us ever wear a pink boa? There was that night with the guys and the grass skirts and the coconut bras...oh man we were drunk...

He was broken from his reverie when the boy gave his name, "Maxxie! Good solid name, pal!", he observed as Brigitte helped the smiling boy to his feet.

DAD?! Crichton looked at Maxxie then at Brigittethen back at Maxxie, Well, he could be like a young dad...he was like 16 years or so older than them at 35, but why was the boy laughing?

Crichton stood with his hands on his hips, one leg straight, one leg bent...his best macho space cowboy pose...his mind was on this strange new arrival...Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Is this boy checking me out? Well, spank me and take away my allowance...he IS!

"Dads don't look like that in Bristol", Maxxie complimented. Crichton chuckled and mussed the boy's hair, "Thanks, Sparky". When the boy started talking about calling his 'mum', John gave Brigitte a shrug and a frown. With a deep sigh, he slid his arm around Maxxie's shoulder and soothed, "we need to tell you something kid. Something unbelievable. Something you are not going to believe", he turned the boy around to face him, holding his shoulders firmly, "You are not on Earth, Maxxie. This Planet randomly brings people to live here...and you arethe latest chosen..."

Brigitte grabbed Maxxie's hand in a strong grip, trying carefully not to grab his hand too hard. Being a werewolf meant Brigitte had above average physical strength and if the girl wasn't careful, she could easily hurt someone. It was a good thing Maxxie had let go of her hand when he called John her father or Brigitte might have squeezed it harder in surprise. "He's not my father", she quickly assured Maxxie. Brigitte gave John an appraising look. "They don't make fathers like him in Bailey Down's either", she added. "Besides, I think John's a little young to be a father".

Maxxie went on to explain how he was in Bristol last and believed he had hitch-hiked here. Brigitte met John's look with her own frown. Maybe breaking it to him was going to be harder than she thought. That being said, she was glad it was John doing the actually breaking of the news rather than her. Brigitte was not a great people person and probably wouldn't know how to handle it if Maxxie got really upset.

Still, she felt like she had to say something once John was finished so Brigitte opened her mouth and jumped right in. "We've all woken up here like you, not knowing how we got here or why we came here. I just woke up here yesterday and kinda freaked out but so far this place is safe and the people, like John here, have been really friendly".

Of course, Brigitte had yet to meet everyone, she silently added. Who knew what dangerous sorts the planet might call here yet? It had already brought Ginger, Brigitte's sister and she was one of the most dangerous people Brigitte knew since Ginger had developed a taste for killing. On that note, Brigitte decided to bring up the rules. "There's this plaque that John showed me yesterday that proves what we're saying is true".

Maxxie was relieved to hear that John wasnt Brigitte's dad. It would have felt weird having such thoughts about a friend's dad. It was weird enough that Chris was doing a teacher, although she seemed young and all. He snickered as he thought of Chris, the most immature of the bunch, shagging a teacher. Then snickered harder as he remembered Anwar's excitement over a girl last night when he arrived at the party. And...the boy...such a good kisser. Hopefully he hadnt passed out on him, Maxxie thought with a sigh.

With a look of horror, Maxxie realized that his mind had been wandering and, during that time, he had been gawking at the extremely large bulge in John's black jeans. Looking quickly between the two, he saw frowns on their faces. "I...uh...I mean," he started a stuttering apology when suddenly John's arm wrapped around his shoulder.

Focus! Maxxie yelled inside his head, staring blankly at the tall man's face and not his crotch. He was about to learn how he got here and how he was going to get back home. The teen's face stayed neutral through John's speech, his mouth parted in what could have been disbelief or just the slackness of his high. Slowly his head turned to Brigitte as she added to their explanation.

Silence filled the space as the two waited for his reaction, until finally a dawning smile spread across Maxxie's lips and he gave a laugh. He shook his finger first at John and then at Brigitte, glancing around to see who else was watching. "Did Dad put you up to this?" he snickered, "Another planet! Talk about high!"

Turning around, he spread his arms wide, "Okay! Tha' was a good one!" he yelled out to whoever was watching his discomfort. "Had me goin' for a second!" He waited for answering laughter, waited for parents or friends to step out and share the joke. "Would have been better to say somewhere like Ethiopia or Canada though. I might have taken the bait."

Wait a frelling minute! Now Brigitte’s checking me out! John laughed and shook his head, patting Brigitte on the back, “Thanks, kiddo!”. He ran his hand through his sandy-colored hair, Horny teenagers and me without a bucket of ice water.

Crichton listened while Brigitte explained to Maxxie what it was like for her when she arrived on the planet just yesterday. John watched the boy’s eyes and facial expressions and wasn’t quite sure he was listening. If he wouldn’t listen to someone his own age, he surely wasn’t going to believe an adult…John knew how teenagers were…he remembered being that way himself. When he was Maxxie’s age he thought all grown men especially were full of bullshit. Boy oh boy! Talk about Karma bitin’ ya in the ass, eh?

While John was thinking back on his days as a teen rebel, he had been looking at Brigitte speaking to Maxxie. When his eyes came back to the boy, Maxxie was staring directly at his crotch! Oh, c’mon kid! You look any longer and you’re gonna have to buy me dinner! Look up…look up…I’ve been told I have lovely baby blue peepers…thaaaat’s it, buddy boy!. Maxxie knew he’d been caught and was flustered; he stammered, trying to formulate an apology of some kind, but John didn’t want to embarrass him and didn’t feel like any harm had been done; he mussed the boy’s hair as they continued with their explanations.

When a broad smile spread across Maxxie’s lips and he started pointing at them, Crichton looked at Brigitte and sighed, “I think we have a non-believer in our midst, little lady”. It was when the laughter started that John knew they’d really lost him. He winked at Brigitte and shrugged, “Desperate times, desperate measures”, and in one quick motion, stooped, grabbed Maxxie and threw the boy up over his shoulder. “Up you go, Chuckles, we have a date with a tablet!”. Turning around, he headed back toward the main complex.

A sigh escaped Brigitte when Maxxie started laughing for she knew he didn't believe them. Not that the teenager could blame him. It was a strange tale. One moment you're living your life, doing whatever it is your normally do and the next you're on a different planet with a bunch of strangers?

Sounded like something out of a movie. The brunette exchanged a look with John but apparently the older man had a plan. With a wink and a quick movement that startled Brigitte, and no doubt Maxxie, John had the young man up over his shoulder.

"Wow", Brigitte murmured before following after the pair. "He's not going to hurt you Maxxie", Brigitte assured the blond boy in what she hoped was a reassuring tone. "But we are telling you the truth. This isn't a prank your dad or your friends pulled. It's really true". After a moment, Brigitte spoke up again.

"Besides, why would your dad pull such a prank on you? Is he really that mean?" she asked as they came closer to the complex. The young werewolf had seen the plaque yesterday but that didn't mean it wasn't anymore unsettling to see it today as the trio came closer. Thanks to her improved eyesight, Brigitte could already make out the words. She silently wondered what would happen if someone were to break them. How exactly would the planet get its revenge?

Maxxie's head spun as he was lifted and tossed over John's shoulder like a sack of potatoes. From his position, he could see an upside-down Brigitte following behind and grinned at her. He wasnt really scared of them but there was no way in hell he was buying some story about being on another planet. All his friends thought he was a gullable bloke but he wasnt that blond.

His eyes lowered and he found from his position, he was also able to check out the nice ass that John sported under his well-fitting black jeans. Obviously, the boy in the woods hadnt satisfied his horny teenaged nature. He wondered if Anwar had scored with the girl on the dance floor. His best friend really needed to get lucky.

When Brigitte mentioned his dad, Maxxie perked up, his head coming up and twisting so that he could smile at her. "My Dad likes his fun and he worries about me. 'e's never really mean, ya know? 'e and my mum just worry." He paused for a moment thinking about the two of them. "I should really be gettin' home. They'll worry."

Maxxie had good parents, unlike most of his friends. His Dad accepted that he was gay and loved him for who he was. His mum was kind-hearted and Maxxie had much of her nature with his sunshine smile and gentleness.

His gaze took in the landscape from his upside-down angle. It was all so unfamiliar. Maxxie's face turned suddenly serious. "Listen chap," he called out to John, "I can take a rib like the next bloke but....well, you seem like a nice guy and, see, I...look, everyone can laugh but this is starting to scare me. Can you just help me get home?" His pleading eyes turned to Brigitte, "please?" he asked softly.

Crichton was more grateful than ever that he had Brigitte along, as she walked along behind him talking to Maxxie and keeping the boy calm. John glanced back at the girl who was cursed with lycanthropy and smiled…if he ever had a daughter, he’d want her to be tough, but caring like Brigitte.

“Listen to her, Sparky”, John chimed in, “Do we look like anyone your dad would know?”.

John let Brigitte continue trying to get through to the boy as they neared the center of the complex. Hearing the girl’s voice, he wondered what would happen when the twin moons were at their fullest. Would these alien moons affect her the way Earth’s moon did? Would two moons make a difference? John wanted to help this girl…he almost felt as if she were his daughter or something, the way Maxxie mistook him for. What if she transformed into the wolf and killed? Would the Planet hold her responsible? Would it stop her before it happened? He would have to talk to her alone about this…later some time.

When John heard Maxxie telling Brigitte that his parents worry about him and that he should be getting home because he didn’t want to worry them, his heart went out to the kid. This boy may like to step out and have a bit of wild fun, but he was good people…as with Brigitte, John went into protective mode with the boy.

Chap? Did he just call him ‘chap’? Okay! Now that was just downright cute!.

Just as the boy admitted to being scared they arrived at the tablet. Crichton gently lowered him to the ground in front of the mounted display. “Maxxie, I wish it weren’t so, but it is, pal…”, John began, trying to use a soothing voice, as he stood behind Maxxie with his hands on the boy’s shoulders to give him strength, “…everyone who comes here has to read this. It’s The Planet’s message to all of us”. He squeezed the boy’s shoulders, “Go on, Tiger, read it”.

"I wish I could help you get home", Brigitte softly replied, wistfully thinking of her own home for a moment. Living in Bailey Down's had seemed like hell for Brigitte when she was fifteen but after two years of living on the run and being chased by another werewolf, she had grown to appreciate what she once had. Her mother for example, who was probably still in prison thanks to her and Ginger but Pam hadn't hesitated to risk her freedom for her daughters. If only the teenager could have seen how much their mother had cared for them.

Once John had put Maxxie down, Brigitte had looked away from the plaque to study the buildings near by. There was no sign of anyone else stirring around but the brunette girl wondered if anyone else had shown up today. John had said there were others arrived before Brigitte and Ginger and if Maxxie was any indication, more people would continue to arrive. 'But why?' Brigitte wondered, 'And who else is going to show up?' Having Ginger appear here alive and well had thrown Brigitte for a complete loop yesterday and the fact that Ginger was really hear was still something the teenager was trying to wrap her mind around. 'What if Sam shows up? What if Trina or Jason show up?' she silently worried.

A shudder went through Brigitte as she contemplated having to did with either of those people. She was better off not thinking about she decided and turned her attention back to John and Maxxie. "Has anyone actually tried to leave Mirage, John?"

When Maxxie was placed back on his feet, his arms instinctively came up while the world spun around him. With a moan he waited for the scenery to settle back into place before attempting to focus his eyes on the carved tablet in front of him. Although he was still feeling the effects from his night of partying, his sudden seriousness was having a sobering effect on the teenager.

His eyes began to squint as he read, brows lowering. He glanced over to see Brigitte staring off into space and wondered if the two truly believed this. It wasnt possible. It just wasnt. But what confused him more was that these two seemed to have accepted that they had been kidnapped by a planet, that they were no longer on Earth. Could this be some crazy dream? Or worse still, maybe he was in a coma or dead.

With more trepidation, Maxxie turned his head to take in the surrounding view. Had someone kidnapped him? Were they watching him right now? Or was this all some drug induced hallucination. He felt a cold shiver run down his spine at the thought.

Brigitte's words brought him back to the moment and he turned to John in curiosity. "We could start off walking or maybe find a car. This place doesnt look guarded. We'll find something familiar sooner or later, right?" Maxxie's eyes looked a little wild, pleading for some hope, fear spreading as he wondered what was really going on here. "Some one will miss us. My mum'll ring up the cops. They'll come looking for us. Right?"
