Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:arrival, complete, day 10, legolas greenleaf, susan pevensie

Who: Susan Pevensie, whoever decides to play greeter (someone nice please?)
When: Day 10, around 6 am
Where: On the Beach
What: Susan's Arrival
Rating: PG-13 for now.
Status: Complete!

Susan had fallen asleep on her tutor's sofa when it happened. It was a few weeks since the most recent trip into Narnia, after Caspian blew the magic horn and the battle to help him reclaim the throne from Telmarine King Miraz. In the aftermath of her and her family being sent home was when it happened and Susan awoke to find herself in the midst of a hurricane, something not usually found in her native England or even Narnia. But somehow she was able to dive under some trees while keeping a grip on her bow and arrows. She was now soaked to the skin, her skirt and sweater drenched and she sneezed. "Oh Aslan, where in the world am I?" she wanted to scream.

Anyone who peeked outside would be a shivering 16 year old girl drenched from the rain and with weapons. But Susan is a gentle girl and only shoots for sport. But for now she kept trying to stay dry so she stayed underneath the tree. But she kept watching the buildings from a distance, debating making a break for indoors but decided against it. Little did she know someone had been watching her.

It had been odd, definately, being rejoined by his friend yesterday. It still felt like a dream, only elves didn't exactly dream. They had very vivid memories of the past, but their subconscious didn't work in quite the same way as humans. They didn't dream of things that hadn't happened, only of things that had. So there was no way that Aragorn couldn't be here.

This should make him happy, and of course it did, but it was overwhelming at the same time. He and his friend had an arrangement to eat breakfast together, but it was too early for that when he gave up on his sleepless rest. So he decided he would go check on the weather, see if it had died down in the night. One glance through the door was enough to convince him it hadn't. He made the quick run from his dormitory to the main room, just for the fun of running in the rain. As he walked, dripping and laughing, into the foyer, he saw the blinking box on the front desk. With a small smile, he picked up the key, and glanced outside into the rain and wind.

This was, by no means, the sort of weather for a peaceful walk on the beach. But he'd never exactly been the type to stay away from situations that wiser people might. Anyway, he'd gone out into the storm yesterday, and he'd found his good friend Aragorn. You never could tell who you would meet in the middle of a storm at the most normal of times, but even moreso on a strange planet like Mirage.

It wasn't the wisest choice to make, but then, it seemed like fun and that was far more important to the easy-going elf. Anyway, some poor person was lost out there, and likely terrified. He took a deep breath, and walked through the door into the driving rain. His hair was whipped around in front of his face, making it even harder to see, even for his elven eyesight. Still, he thought he saw a small figure underneath a palm tree ahead, so he headed over there, calling out to get their attention. He didn't know if he could be heard over the wind and rain, but it was worth a try.

"Greetings! Do not be alarmed, I am here to help!"

The younger woman looked up and spotted Legolas,"I bid you no harm!" for a split second thinking she had somehow landed back in Narnia. She did keep a grip on her bow and arrows, just in case since she had seen more battle than most young women her age. But Susan was only royally soaked with no idea of what was even going on, the landing having not helped matters. But there was just something about her, the inner spark of a young woman who had been a queen of Narnia at one time.

The blond elf smiled a little at this girl telling him she meant him no harm. She looked to be maybe half his height, and slender. But she did carry those weapons with a certain amount of familiarity, as if she were used to using them. He had his own bow with him, of course, and it made him feel like she was a bit of a kindred spirit that she had the same weapon of choice as he did.

"Nor I you, my Lady. Since neither of us means the other harm, perhaps you will follow me? I have much to say to you, and it is difficult to do it over the wind and rain."

Something about this girl, though... she was more than what she seemed. He would think on that more later, though, when they were out of the rain and he'd explained things a bit. She was interesting, though, and he wanted to figure out just what was so special about her, what sparked his interest.

"I accept" as Susan somehow got off the ground and made sure nothing was harmed. But her simple skirt was a bit muddy at worst and she was soaked from the storm. She held onto her bow and arrow as she joined Legolas,"This is not normal" meaning the weather but her soul was thinking of Narnia and her family(and her Narnia friends).

But her inner strengh took over, she had seen 2 battles during her time in Narnia after all. "My name is Susan Pevensie. I remember falling asleep and awoke to find myself soaking wet and under a tree" trying to remember what had happened. But she was unhurt, minus the now soaked skirt and sweater of course.

Had he been closer, he would have offered his hand to help her up. As it was, though, by the time he got over to her she had already struggled to her feet, and all her could do was smile and nod at her in greeting.

"I am called Legolas, Lady Susan, and I will try to explain once we are somewhere dry."

With a charming smile her way, he turned around and started walking back towards the main building. Really, he was just glad he'd been able to find her so easily. The planet seemed to like dumping people on the beach, though, so it had been a logical first step.

As Susan followed Legolas she was already thinking he might be from Narnia because she could tell he is an elf. She held onto her bow and arrows while lifting her skirt to avoid more mud,"This weather is beyond crazy! One minue I am on a sofa and the next soaking wet" as they walked towards a nearby building.

Something was odd about this. She didn't seem nearly upset enough. Maybe this had just not sunk in for her yet, though. Still, he wondered. But it was pointless asking questions until they were inside and didn't have to should over the storm. He held the door open, and smiled in relief as the warm air of the building hit his damp skin.

"It is a surprise, and I found it a shock even though I did not arrive in the middle of a storm."

He turned to look at the girl, who he thought looked very young, even for a human. But still, that dignity about her, it spoke to him. Maybe because he, himself was a prince, though he didn't usually act like it, some people could tell anyway.

"Let me start, then. You are not wherever you think you are. You have been stolen, and this is to be your new home."

It was blunt, but from what he'd seen, there was no point in beating around the bush. He pointed towards the plaque that held the message from the planet, just so that she knew he wasn't completely insane.

"Stolen?" Susan's eyes got huge at Legolas's news. "This is nothing like the wardrobe or the horn that pulled me into Narnia" her mind spinning at all this. She took a look at the plaque,"What would this place want with someone like me? I know England and Narnia" her quiet nature replaced by something even she could not explain. "We had helped Prince Caspian reclaim the throne and had just been sent home and now this".

She steered herself for what would come, questions about Narnia.

Even Legolas' sense of wonder had been strained lately, what with being taken from Middle Earth and being brought to Mirage, and then Aragorn joining him. Of course, all the strange people he had met from places he had never heard of also didn't help, and this was just one more. He was very calm about the whole thing.

"Narnia? England? Which are you from, Lady Susan? Or is Narnia in England? I am from Middle Earth, from a great wood called Mirkwood. At least, I used to be. Now, I call Mirage home."

He looked at her curiously, wondering what she would do now.

"I am from World War 2 era England Sir Legolas but I also called Narnia home" Susan told Legolas about Narnia and of its people from Mr.Tummus to Mr and Mrs Beave to Prince Caspian the new king. "Before Prince Caspian took the throne my brothers, sister and I were its rulers" finally letting out the fact she had been a queen at one time. "But I do not speak of it much for most would not understand"

A smile touched the elf's lips as he listened to her speak. England sounded like an odd place, although he understood of course the concept of a war that took over the whole world. He'd been in the middle of one of those when he'd been taken. But Narnia sounded like his sort of place. He laughed softly when she admited she was a queen.

"I could tell, High Queen Susan, that you were a ruler. I do not know how I knew, but I did. I understand, though. My father is the King of Mirkwood. I can understand you more than most."

Susan was finally able to let a tiny smile escape,"I am curious Sir Legolas, how could you tell of my time as a queen? To be honest I am mostly curious since now I look nothing like my former self". But something much deeper shown through, she was still the same gentle girl who became Queen Susan the Gentle all those Narnian years ago.

He laughed a little, by no means upset by her question or offended. Actually, her curiousity amused him quite a bit. But then, nearly everything amused him, really.

"As I said, I am a Prince, though one can not easily tell such. I suppose it is because we have this in common that it was apparent to me."

He frowned suddenly, remembering the key he still carried in his belt pouch. She'd need that. He dug it out and handed it to her with a little bow.

"This is the key to your room, Queen Susan."

"Rooms, this will take some getting used to" as Susan accepted the key. "Outside of Narnia it was just easier to hide that aspect of myself, to blend in and be normal" she finally confessed,"But I have a feeling we have something else in common since I am an archer" letting him see her bow and arrows.

He had, of course, noticed the same thing, so again, he smiled. It was obviously a habit with him. He nodded in appreciation of her comment.

"Indeed, and I would be most honored if even you should wish to enter into a competition of some sort. I can tell from the way you carry your bow that you are not unskilled in it's use."

He patted his own bow, which he had slung over his shoulder as usual.

"Once the weather clears a friendly contest perhaps? I only shoot for sport now and do miss that" letting slip her battlefield training. "I saw warfare and lead a team of archers into battle".

He nodded, not at all surprised by her admission. She was a bit young, as he understood things, but then, maybe where she was from, they did things younger? Either way, he didn't show much of a reaction.

"I would be most pleased. Here, I shoot nothing. At home, of course, it was a very different story..."

Susan told the short versions of her time in battle, deciding to save the full stories for another time. "Not many would understand the things I have seen, like battle against the White Witch or King Miraz"

He laughed once more, amused by this overly-serious young woman.

"Many here have been in wars, you might not be as alone as you might think. There is much I could tell you, Queen Susan, and if you find me in the right mood, perhaps I will do just that."

He frowned slightly, remembering his appointment for breakfast with Aragorn. Surely he still had time? But he did need to make sure the girl was settled before then.

"My Queen, I have a meeting to attend, but first, do you wish for me to show you to your room?"

"You may Sir Legolas" Susan nodded. The only reason she was so proper and serious is pure fear, beyond Legolas this was a total unknown and the fear was all within her.

He inclined his head to her and offered her his arm, deciding mischieviously that, since she was a Queen, she should have a proper reception.

"Shall we, then?"

He remembered her room number from her key, and headed off towards her dorm building. Outside, the sun might have been rising, but it was hard to tell over the clouds. It was just a little lighter outside.

"We shall" as Susan let Legolas take her arm. But at that moment a shy smile crossed the younger woman, for a small moment she felt like she was bac in Narnia anew.

The small girl looked so fragile, he threw an arm around her shoulders just to keep her from being stolen away by the strong wind. Finally, he got her to her building, safe and sound.

"Well, my Lady, here you are. Your room, by the way, can change to look however you would like."

Susan took a look and had to admit,"This place knows so much" finding simple skirts fitting the 1940's as well as outfits from her time in Narnia. She was already planning on a few small changes to the room to make it feel more like Narnia.

He released her and stepped back, watching her obvious delight with a smile on his face. She seemed much more like a teenaged girl now. It was nice to see.

"I shall leave you to your fun, then, my Queen. A pleasure to meet you. I hope we shall meet again."

One more bow, and he turned to leave. He had an appointment with Aragorn that he didn't intend to miss.

"Untill next time Sir Legolas and once the weather clears we shall have that contest!" Susan was finally acting her age instead of the queen she was.

(and we can call this done!)
