Day Eight
Who: Vaako and Riddick
What: Vaako arrives on Mirage
When: Day 8, late afternoon
Where: On the beach, near some palm trees to start.
Rating: PG-13 for language
Status: Complete

Though everyone else, including his wife, would see that moment as a failure on his part, he knew only satisfaction as he saw the Furyan's knife stab through the top of the Lord Marshal's head. Finally, he knew, his army would have a leader who wasn't a tyrant, wasn't mad with power. In short, they would have the leader they deserved. He'd been right all along, it wasn't he that was destined to lead the Necromongers. Despite the urgings of his wife, he'd never really wanted to.

He was one of the first to sink onto his knees in front of the man who had become their new Lord Marshal. You keep what you kill, and Riddick had killed the Lord Marshal, so now he was the Lord Marshal. It was that simple. No one even thought to question it. The entire Necromonger army fell onto it's knees before the new Lord Marshal, and Vaako had to struggle to keep the smile from his face. This was as perfect as it was possible for something to be.

Suddenly, everything changed. Underneath Riddick's feet, a strange sort of black hole opened up. It wasn't like a true black hole, though, because it only sucked Riddick in, not everything else. Everyone walked in shock as their new Lord was abducted, and Vaako rose to his feet, shaking his head in denial. Now who would lead the people?

The hole dwindled away until it was tiny, smaller than a marble, and then, without any warning, it opened wide again. This time, though, it wasn't here for Riddick. It was here for him. His eyes widened as he was pulled down into complete and utter darkness. His last, half-bitter thought was at least his wife would have a hard time controlling him if he were dead.

That wasn't his fate, however, and he soon realized it as he fell heavily to the ground. To the very sandy ground. Of course, he'd been on sandy worlds before, that went without saying. But this sand was strange. He went to his knees and examined it. Pure white, sparkling, nothing like the dull orange sands of Helion Prime. He picked some up, let it run through his gauntleted fingers, and sighed.

"Well, this is slightly inconvienant..."

He didn't notice much around him, which was unusual, but then he was shocked. He turned his gaze from the sand to the trees. He'd never, in his entire life, seen trees like this. He hadn't been wearing his helmet when he was taken, so the wind blew through his long, tightly-bound hair as he looked around.

Riddick did not require a lot of sleep, but after his odd and rather awkward run in with Lestat, he found he actually wanted to rest. The Furyan was honestly not a social man. In fact he referred to be alone unless he was around someone useful that could actually help him. He had not found a lot of those around so far. Legolas, the Elf annoyed him and made him feel nothing but annoyance and mild amusement. Ayla, had actually been pleasant company and a large help to him. And well Lestat he just preferred to leave there. he found amusement really with the creature.

His sleep was restless. Not at all something Riddick was used to. It had him sitting straight up in his rather large bed, his chest heaving and sweat rolling down his muscled and toned body. It also had him craving the nothingness of cryosleep if he had to rest. He was not one to get flashes of the past, dreams or even nightmares. Yet he had this time. He was standing on a mountain top looking out around him as flashes of his past blended with the present. The throne room blended in with his own room here on the planet, images of Imam, one of the few people Riddick ever trusted and truly cared about, that Riddick never spoke of to him. Jack, the small child that had turned into a beautiful, hard woman that Riddick once more never told her how he felt until it was too late. Fry, Toombs, even the old Lord Marshal, all flashed before him. It unnerved him. It was the last image that had Riddick out of the bed and pacing his room.

Right before he was brought here, he was sitting in the throne, it had all just hit him that he had done what he had. A large, amazing and glorious Army bowed at his feet. It was lead by the strongest, finest Commander that the Necro's had ever had, and the Commander,Vaako had bowed before him first showing a great sign of respect or stupidness. Riddick didn't have time think about it. But in his light rest, Riddick saw this man again. He looked focused and troubled at the same time. And all the anger he felt against this man for bringing Kyra ultimately to her death came back to him. With a long sigh, Riddick grabbed a quick shower and a clean pair of clothing that seemed to always be there. The sun was bright , but he wanted to go exploring once more, try to figure a way out of here. He quickly changed and headed for the door.

A frown settled upon his other wise stoic and expressionless features as a heavy sense of dread settled upon him. Something was about to happen, Riddick could feel it. Opening the door,he slipped his glasses over his head, covering his eyes and right away the sense of dread got worse. As he walked he noticed the planet had changed over night it seemed and his path to the mountains where he normally explored was still there so he took it.

Half way down the path, the frown on Riddick's face became heavier and more defined. The path was the same but the ending destination was not as Riddick came to a stop on the beginnings of the beach. The sand covering his heavy boots with a light dusting. he looked around frowning even more. “What the hell..” he thought. There might be an answer here to how to get off this damn planet. But as he began to explore the sense of dread became even worse and he got this very odd feeling that his life was about to change. He stumbled upon a figure a few hundred feet in front of him and Riddick, with no where to hide, gripped his knives just in case and studied the figure. He moved closer to get a better look and the moment he saw the armor, the hair, his jaw dropped and he let out a low, long whistle.

“Well shit, this just got interesting.” Riddick recovered quickly from his shock so his voice sounded more amused than anything. And it was loud enough to be heard. He was not one to question things so he was sure he was truly seeing the great Necromonger Lord Vaako before him. Thankfully the glasses covered his eyes because in the silvery orbs could show his shock still and he knew they would.

Most people wearing full plate armor couldn't have gotten to their feet as quickly as he did at that time. Within a second, he was standing and turning to face the person who had addressed him. A very familiar voice, for all that he hadn't heard it very often. A voice belonging to a man his wife had wanted to kill, and then when that hadn't worked out, use for her own ends. The man that he had, ultimately, used for his own ends, but those were different from his wife.

Hazel eyes studied the bald man, not really surprised to see him here. After all, he had seen Riddick disappear just moments before he himself had been sucked into the black hole. What was odd, though, is that Riddick was wearing clothing that was slightly different from what he'd last seen his new Lord Marshal in. He was very perceptive, and he seemed to be clothed in the same way he had been before. He wondered what it all meant.

When he'd jumped to his feet, he'd grabbed the axe he'd been clutching when he'd been abducted. Now, if fell to the sand with a soft noise, and Vaako fell to his knees, this time in a controlled way. No matter what was going on, one thing was for sure. His Lord Marshal was here, and he would do as he was commanded.

"My Lord Marshal."

His voice was firm, determined. There was a very real chance that the other man would kill him now. After all, he had seen him attempt to murder the last Lord Marshal. But he would just have to do his best to show he was loyal, and that as long as Riddick was not a tyrant, he had nothing to fear from Vaako. It was all he could do, and it was a risk he had known he was taking when he attacked his previous superior.

Riddick watched the other man intently, his face expressionless. It was indeed the Commander Vaako, as Riddick knew the moment he saw the figure. Though one could not see just how intense Riddick was watching him nor the barely controlled anger. But for a moment the anger was not because of Kyra. It was because the man was once more bowing before him and calling him that damn name. And though none of that meant shit here, he had to wonder if Vaako would care and still try to kill him to take what should have been his in the first place.

Taking a deep breath Riddick kicked at the sand with his heavy boot causing it to fly up into Vaako's face but not a heavy load more just dust. A loud, deep growl, very similar to that of a Hell Cat came from Riddick as he spoke fromwithin clenched teeth.

" I am not your damn Lord Marshal and here that shit obviously don't matter so get up." His anger was barely restrained and then it happened again. His skin was beginning to feel warm then hot almost as if on fire. His eyes closed behind his glasses and he was on the ground in his mind,a blaster having sent him flying backwards. Then he was with The Purifier, the Necro ship passing over them and Riddick said that one word, Kyra." He knew the man before him had taken her. And if Riddick was not so lost in grief and truly blaming himself then he would know that either way Kyra would be dead. Vaako merely extended her life. And he had not been the one to truly kill her. But Riddick should have protected her better.

He blinked and he was back in the present and out of no where, anger boiling up as well as something else he could not name, Riddick let all his rage out as he flung himself at the man. Vaako being in his position made it better for Riddick to catch him off guard as well as tackle him to the ground. Riddick allowed his fist to reign down a series of blows everywhere he could that would not be stilled by the armor Vaako wore. It was a moment that Riddick had never had before Anger, rage, fear, sorrow, grief it all came out in his blows though they softened after a while they were not at all weak.

He barely had time to run the Lord Marshal's words through his head before he got a face full of sand. It went into his nose, even into his mouth, and he only just closed his eyes in time to avoid being blinded. He didn't move, not more than was required to wipe the grains off his face, and spit them out from his mouth. He spoke again, because he needed this man to be the Lord Marshal, he needed the Necromonger's to have a leader. Hell, he needed to have a leader.

"You keep what you kill, Lord, so you are the new leader. Since I am now here with you, I am your servant, and you are my Lord. It is the way things are done, it is the Necromonger way."

He barely had time to get this speech out before he was tackled backwards, landing on his back in the warm sand. His tight, muscular body tensed up as he was jumped on, and he almost raised his hands to defend himself. But this wasn't just Riddick, it wasn't just a man he could fight. This was the Lord Marshal, and he would not fight back. As calmly as he could, he laid still, not defending his head, which was the only part Riddick could really attack. The rest of his body was covered with the thick, heavy armor that protected him.

His eyes closed, just to protect them, and he had to wish that he'd brought his helmet with him. He imagined that he would be in quite a bit less pain if he had worn it. Of course, he couldn't much feel the pain, because of his Necromonger conversion. Everything he felt was dulled, and with the way he was feeling, he couldn't help but think he wouldn't want to be in this situation if he wasn't who he was, if he wasn't bound to serve this man.

Of course, if he wasn't bound to serve him, he wouldn't be getting the hell kicked out of him. He'd be fighting back. But the Necromonger way left no other choice, but to allow his Lord Marshal to attack him like this if he wished to.

This was strange for Riddick. The tall, bald Furyan was usually very restrained, very controlled. Sure he felt amusement and even annoyance, but this was different. He never allowed himself to feel anything like this. And the few times he had, he had never showed them. Not like this. This was like 30 plus years of anger, sorrow, rage, and a million more negative emotions was coming out of him, flowing through his veins instead of blood and coming out within his fists that were still reigning down punch after punch to the man's face below him. Over time they became softer, but not weak nor did they become soft enough not to hurt.

When the man spoke just briefly, Riddick unclenched a fist and moved it to the throat of the Commander under him, his strong, shaky hand squeezing enough to make the man panic but not to take his breath away. But Riddick knew even if the man did panic , he would never show it. And something deep inside told Riddick that the man was expecting this. But more yet he was expecting his death by Riddick's hands. For some reason this pissed him off even more.

“I am not your fucking Lord and here you are not a fucking Necromonger, you're just you.” Of course he wasn't making much sense. He was confused to be honest. He tried to make the other man see by banging his head against the sand with as much force as he could to get his words across. But he was sure as time went on and the fact that this man was just lying there and taking what Riddick was dishing out, that this was not a man in times like these but a machine. And once more anger boiled up,hitting him hard as if he had just walked into a steel wall. The hand at Vaako's strong throat was squeezing to the point where Riddick saw the man become paler than he already was and immediately he took his hand away ,letting it fall to his side as he tried to get some feeling back within it. Riddick hadn't realized he was squeezing so hard that he had cut off his own circulation.

Eventually the physical part of the fight left him, and Riddick raised himself off the other man, breathing hard and yet still labored, his fists hurting to even straighten out much less clench. His knuckles were bruised and some even bleeding from the force from which he had hit the man. He couldn't kill him which somehow relieved Riddick, but he was pretty damn sure he had come close. He took a moment to get himself under control as he looked down at the man, seeing the damage in which he had caused. Vaako would be wearing those bruises for a while, and a sick sort of twisted smile crossed Riddick's lips at the thought of that.

“I thought you were some great warrrior. Do you just lay there and take it in battle like you did just now? Can't see how your army got to be so great if their finest just lay there and take what they are given.”Words that were meant to mock and humilate came out sounding like they were being spoken in curiosity, anger that Vaako would not fight back and anger at a race who controlled and killed yet gave them selves over willingly to a “Lord Marshal” who wanted nothing more than a following to control for their own selfish purpose than the purpose of the greater good if there was such a thing. Once more Riddick was glad for his glasses because they covered his eyes. Vaako would not be able to see the emotions flashing before the silvery depths and would not be able to see confusion was the dominant emotion right now. Even over shadowing his anger.

Riddick turned his back on the other man as he looked around, not trying to figure out a way off this planet for once but now trying to figure out the best way to get away from this man. Of all people that had to show up, it had to be this man. Hell he would have taken the Hell Hounds over Vaako. But someone that probably wouldn't try to kill him or worship him like some brainless fool would have been good too.

Had he not been a Necromonger, with all that entailed, he probably would have been in tears. It hurt, even for him, with his dulled pain sensors. His hands clenched at his sides, finding it difficult not to fight back. But, then, he always had been that way, a little bit. It had always been a little bit too difficult not to fight back when the Lord Marshal abused him. It took more effort than he would like to hold himself back, which made it more important that he do so. So, while his face was being pummelled, he gritted his teeth and bore it. And when Riddick found his throat and started choking him, he mentally prepared himself for death.

His air was being choked off, to the point where he hardly felt his head slamming into the ground over and over again. He was going to die. He'd known that this would most likely be the case, even back when he'd been laying his plans on Helion Prime. No matter which way it went, whether the old Lord Marshal or Riddick won, they wouldn't be able to let someone who had attempted to kill one of them live. So this wasn't a surprise, that he was going to die. At least, his wife didn't have to see it. At least she didn't have to see this final failure on his part.

Suddenly, he was free. Riddick was no longer perched on top of him. Slowly, through a throat that felt bruised, he drew in a shaky breath. He wasn't dead. Why wasn't he dead? He dared to open his eyes, hazel orbs scanning around until he found Riddick. The other man wasn't even looking at him. Somehow, this infuriated him more than when he had been beating the crap out of him. After all, if he was going to die, shouldn't it take a bit more attention than this?

Slowly, painfully, the dark-haired man sat up. His armor kept his body safe, but his face was another story. He rose up onto his knees again, and stayed there. He had a couple of points to address, that he hadn't been able to earlier because, well, he couldn't breathe, let alone talk. His voice was low as he forced it from his abused throat.

"You are the Lord Marshal, and though you may fight it, you keep what you kill and now this is your destiny. I am, and always will be, a Necromonger above all else."

He had to stop to cough out a small bit of blood, probably from inside his throat, before he could continue. He wanted to raise his hands to his face, to see how badly he was injured, but now wasn't the time.

"I do as my Lord Marshal sees fit, and if that involves being attacked and not fighting back, I will do so. Anyways, the previous Lord Marshal had fits of temper, as well, and we all suffered through it at one time or another."

Maybe Riddick would leave now. Maybe he wouldn't have to die. That would be strange, but also not at all unwelcome. If Riddick would just get bored and wander off, that would mean he could survive. For at least a little while longer, and maybe that would be enough to convince this man of his loyalty.

Riddick listened to the man that was on the ground, however he did not turn to look at him. That was something Riddick couldn't explain. Didn't he want to see the damage he had done? Didn't he want to feel that sick sort of satisfaction that seeing the bruises, the swelling and blood would give him? Wouldn't that give him a sense of small justice for Kyra? But without needing to think, Riddick knew the answer to it. Vaako was not responsible for her death. She would have died at Crematoria if not for Vaako. And Vaako was not the one who had killed her in that elegant throne room. And despite it all, even if it had been Vaako that had turned the blade, it was Riddick that had ultimately let her down once more. That was why he had went after the former Lord Marshal to avenge her death to give it some honor, and to let her know too late, that he had cared. He just didn't expect the man who was now coughing behind Riddick to also attack the other man. But for once Riddick would have been glad to watch someone else kill what he himself had his eyes on. That was not what had happened.

Shaking his head of these thoughts, Riddick let out a bitter laugh laced with what one might call insanity. The other man had no idea how absurd his words sounded did he? But to have a little fun, Riddick smirked still not looking at the other man. Maybe if he did something to piss Vaako off the man would react. Would show some hint of being human. The more Vaako, played submissive, mindless droan, the more Riddick got pissed and he had no idea why. Why should he give a damn how the other man acted? Let's see if I can get a rise out of him.... Riddick thought. “If I keep what I kill does that mean if I kill you I get to keep ya?”

But then all thoughts of getting a rise out of him vanished as Vaako spoke those next words. Riddick had to grit his teeth and this time he turned on his heels sharply to glare at the other man. Riddick never wanted this position. He just wanted to show someone in their last moments that he cared, that he loved them. Or so he thought. Either way he cared for Kyra a hell of a lot and he felt the need to prove it though again it had been to late. He wanted to avenge her death and take from him what he had taken from Riddick. A precious life. But then some hope that he would be able to see the man's end and not to be the one to physically put him there had made it better. But at the last damn minute the man decided that Vaako was more of a threat than he was and decided to fall to Riddick's blade and not to Vaako's ax. He barely bit out once more with barely controlled restrain.

“I did not want this. I never asked for this. Ya were too damn slow and he fell to me and not you as had been both of our plans!” Riddick moved closer to the other man once more, despite his sensitivity to light, Riddick removed his glasses for just a moment to glare even more at the other man so he could see just how much Riddick hated the events that had happened. “And even so I don't want some damn mindless drone that does what ever I ask or hell don't ask. If I attack you then I damn well expect you to fight back! Because when I attack I sure as fuck ain't doin' it as your precious Lord Marshal.”

Then for some reason, a reason Riddick would never be able to explain, he calmed. Quickly, all the emotions he was feeling was still there but he calmed, his temper calmed. This was clearly Vaako's first day here though how he had gotten here Riddick still had not asked about. He didn't care. But he would need to know one of the two reasons Riddick was not killing him.

“I may not be able to kill you because it's against the damn rules here but it won't stopme from beating the shit outta ya if ya piss me off.”Riddick paused and turned once more. Well he was not a man of many words so he figured this fit. “Besides if I wanted to kill you I would have done it long before now. “ Riddick straightened his shoulders and looked at the edge of the beach they were on, studying it intently. He should go now leave Vaako to fend for himself, yet he wasn't. Despite his confusing thoughts and emotions, and his false, misplaced anger toward this man, he couldn't seem to leave. Something, probably this damn planet its self was holding him there.

Well, he wasn't leaving, but he also wasn't trying to kill him. This was progress, he figured. At the very least, he wasn't going to die right away. That was better than nothing. He kept his eyes trained on the ground, though, and stayed right where he was, on his knees. The sand was working its way into the tiny cracks in his armor, which was distinctly uncomfortable. Vaako, however, was very good at ignoring discomfort. His face throbbed, the swelling probably worsened by the hot sun beating down on him, but that, too, he ignored.

Much harder to ignore was the odd comment the Lord Marshal made. What sort of nonsense was that? He didn't have to be killed in order to belong to the other man. He already did, just by the simple fact that he was his leader. He shook his head, confusion showing for just a split second on his face, before he covered it with the ease of long practice.

"I am yours to command, Lord."

It was simple, to the point, and absolutely true. He knew that Riddick could not possibly know all the rules of the Necromonger army, but he did. There was no reason for Riddick to kill him, if all he wanted to do was own him. Of course, he wasn't quite sure why the bald Furyan would want to own him, but that was none of his business, really.

"If you command me to fight back, I will, but I warn you that you may not find me as easy an opponant as you did when I was not resisting. But I will follow my Lord Marshal's command in all things."

He was more than a little nervous when the rage stopped on the part of the bald Furyan. Anger, throwing things around, being hit... those things he understand. Calm people, not as much. It was more than a little disturbing, and put him off guard more than all the Lord Marshal's blows had done. It was almost too hard for him to focus on his words, though he tried his best.

"What do you mean, you can't kill me? Of course you can kill me. Anyone who got in a lucky enough attack could kill me."

He honestly did not understand a single thing that this man was saying, and that bothered him. He almost crossed his arms over his chest, but remembered himself at the last minute and instead let them fall to his side. But his hazel eyes looked at Riddick, silently asking questions he wasn't sure he'd be allowed to ask. Where was he? Why had they been taken? Why was he on a damn beach with these weird trees around?

Riddick had just beat the hell out of this man, told him flat out he was not his Lord, did not own him and yet Vaako was still telling Riddick he would do what ever he wanted. It was pissing him off more than anything else right now. He did not want someone who was gonna do everything he said, did not want a subservient, mindless fool. In fact Riddick wanted no one around him,yet he was sure he wasn't going to have a choice with Vaako. But perhaps what was pissing him off more than anything was the fact that this strong, heavy willed man was acting like he had no brain, no free will. And that... well that pissed Riddick off. It not only showed how deeply enriched in his religion and believes Vaako was , but that Vaako was also willing to follow anyone, making him seem weak. And Riddick did not view this man as weak. Once more his anger flared and he turned to glare at Vaako.
“Damn it, do you not understand me? I don't want to tell you to defend yourself. If I fucking attack you I want you to defend yourself, I want you to attack back,or at the very least fucking defend yourself. And guess what? I want you to do it without me commanding you to! I don't own you,Vaako and I don't want to!” Riddick was once more not able to control his anger and his chest was heaving with his anger and annoyance. God this man was insufferable! “And I can't fucking kill you!”

Then Riddick read the questions in those dark and deep hazel eyes. And once more a calm, a deep calm filled Riddick. Sighing softly, Riddick shook his head then growled as an image filled his head. Of all fucking things, he heard a voice in his head and saw the face of Legolas, the Elf who had met Riddick when he realized he was on this God forsaken planet. I'm sure this would really amuse the Elf.... Riddick thought to himself. He was reminded of a damn key and of Legolas taking him to a place that explained it all and yet nothing at all. He saw the infuriating man in his head smirking at him and making a comment about Riddick not being very friendly. Odd that the Elf came to mind considering they had barely gotten along. Well a key he did not have but at least he could take Vaako to the center to allow him to at least know what he was in for and why Riddick could not kill him. Then he could leave him there at the plaque and head back to his room. The planet was large enough that the two of them could indeed ignore each other.

The calm flowed off of him now and it confused the hell outta Riddick. Why was this happening? he even once more removed his glasses to look at Vaako intently as the sun was not as intense at this moment.

"Come with me. I will take you where you can get most of your answers then we can part our ways. This damn planet is big enough that we can avoid each other after today. Agreed?"

Vaako inclined his head respectfully, weathering the storm of words without too much difficulty. He wondered, though, if he'd made a mistake in picking who would succeed the Lord Marshal. The previous one had been given to fits of anger and rage, and abuse both physically and with words, as well. Had he replaced a bad leader with one that was just as bad? But he was stuck with it now. He would just have to see what happened. It was too soon to tell, really.

"Well, my Lord, you could always give me a standing order to defend myself if you attack me. I would follow it."

It seemed the logical solution to him, although he didn't really understand why the other man would want him to fight back. He'd seek Vaako fight, and should know he would not be as easy as all that to defeat. But if he was ordered to do so, he would, and to the best of his ability. Anything else would be disobediant. As for the comment about Riddick not owning him, it didn't even deserve a comment. Of course, Riddick owned him, and every other Necromonger in the army. It was just silly to say otherwise, though it probably had to do with the fact that Riddick hadn't expected to be in this position. It would definately take some getting used to for him. He would do his best to be patient.

He didn't know what the Furyan was thinking, but whatever it was, it seemed to calm him down. This man was rather... unstable. But, again, there was nothing to be done about it. The choice was made. And, at the very least, he was no longer being choked to death. That was a step in the right direction.

"As my Lord commands."

He bowed and walked forward to stand beside the bald man, eying him warily while trying to act like he wasn't. He didn't understand most of what he said, of course. But, if commanded, he would even leave the other man completely alone. It was the way he was trained. Always obey.

The truth was, Riddick had seen Vaako fight though just barely and he knew the man could indeed inflict pain upon him. It was the fact that Riddick wanted Vaako to do what he wanted, not what Riddick commanded.
That... coming from this man just pissed him off. Almost asmuch as the fact that he goes from anger to calm almost within a second and that had never happened before. Something...No Riddick refused to think about it.

“One day Vaako, you might just fucking get it. I guess we will see.” Riddick spoke and turned to look at the commander. He stepped back to fall in step with Vaako as they walked as equals. That should piss the other man off.... Riddick thought with a smug smile.Though it did something to him that Riddick could not name.

Riddick lead the way to the center to the room, housing the plaque. It was not a far walk, thank God because it was awkward enough being with this man. “I do not know where you will stay, where your room is but you can deal with finding it” He spoke as he stopped in front of the plaque then stepped back.”Everything you. need to know should be there.” Riddick stepped away and went to the door.

He paused as he got to the door and opened it. He looked back at the other man and spoke softly but firmly.

“This place is large enough that I meant it.We can and will keep our distance from each other, Vaako.I am not your damn Lord Marshal here. I don't want to be. Time to learn to be a free will human,Commander. Have fun with it.” Riddick smirked then headed out ignoring the fact that the sense of fucking dread got heavier once he did. He went to his room, his anger and other emotions boiling up within him again.

As he walked in,Riddick frowned realizing his large bed had been replaced with a slightly smaller one and a second one was now in his room. This he did not get. He frowned heavier and studied the other bed, wondering what in the fuck was going on.

Vaako walked alongside the Lord Marshal, half expecting the bald man to attack him at any moment for impudence. Nothing of the sort happened, they just walked together into the building. Once there, after Riddick spoke, he sighed softly, but the sound held the slightest trace of relief. Looks like he'd been given his orders, even if Riddick didn't phrase them that way. He was too stay away from his Lord Marshal. That, he could do, even if he still didn't understand pretty much all of what the man was saying.

"It shall be as you say."

Hazel eyes fell to the plaque, and his brow furrowed as he read. He didn't usually allow himself to show much in the way of emotion, because that could be used against him, but in this case he couldn't seem to help it. Maybe Riddick didn't see, since the Furyan seemed to be in a hurry to get out of there.

The part of the plaque that bothered him wasn't, oddly enough, the fact that he could never leave. With Riddick here, he wouldn't want to be in his own world, anyways. The Necromonger army with no leader would be a hell of a thing to be around, and he was more than happy to stay away. Also, he couldn't say he was exactly heartbroken at being away from his domineering wife. It would be very hard for her to control him from here, and the thought sent an undeniable surge of pleasure through him.

He didn't notice when the Lord Marshal left, though normally he wouldn't have dreamed of missing an event like that. He was too wrapped up in the plaque, and thinking about it. What bothered him far more than the not leaving thing was one simple thing. He could not kill here. How was he supposed to convert people to the Necromonger way if he couldn't threaten them with death? This was going to be a serious setback. He would have to think much on this.

He murmured the words and then looked down at the plaque once more. When he looked up, Riddick was gone. He shrugged, glad that at least he had gotten away alive. Although, that wasn't so strange, since Riddick couldn't kill him. But he certainly could have beaten the hell out of him, moreso than he already had. He was grateful, really, for small mercies. Now, he just had to find this room that Riddick had spoken of, and he would be set.

He wandered around, until he found himself in the foyer a short time later. There was a box blinking on a desk. He walked over to it, axe in hand, and peered at it. It blinked more insistantly at him. Shrugging, he picked up the lid. Inside, was a key. The light stopped when he picked it up. This wasn't hard to figure out. This was his room key. It was quite simple to figure out. It had a number on it.

It wasn't hard to find the building, nor the room that had the number on his key. Wondering what this strange place would look like, Vaako inserted the key and turned it. Not expecting anyone to be there, he carried his large axe at his side, and was, as much as he ever was, relaxed. He was always on guard, of course, but he was slightly less vigilant now than he normally was.

Riddick decided to try and forget about the events of earlier and decided to work out then shower. And he did. He stepped out of the shower a toweldrapped loosely around his waist.

His room was dark, the way he liked it. But once more things had changed. There were now clothing and things on another side of the room and it made Riddick frown and curse. What the fuck was going on? he returned to the bathroom to retrieve something when he heard his door open.Quickly moving undetected, Riddick moved into his room, grabbed for his blades and was moving once more.he spotted a figure so he moved up to them silently.

Standing behind the intruder, Riddick held a sharp blade to the soft skin of the person's neck as he spoke firmly and low in their ear.

"I don't know who you are, who you think you are coming into my room, but you have 5 seconds to get the fuck out before I slit your throat."

It was dark. He narrowed his eyes to try and see. His eyes, still used to the light from the hallway which was bright, and of course, it had been sunny outside, had a hard time adjusting. He thought he saw movement in the room, but had time to do little more than raise his axe before he felt a knife at his throat.

He didn't know this was his Lord Marshal, he didn't know anything except that he was being threatened in a room that was supposed to be his. Showing, once more, his agility despite his heavy plated armor, he grabbed the person behind him by their shoulder, heaved them up off the ground, and slammed them down in front of him. Immediately, he was on his knees, his axe against the other man's neck.

And then, that voice spoke, and he knew who he was facing. He gasped, one of the rare times he showed any sort of emotion, and dropped his axe onto the ground. He stayed on his knees, but shifted back just a little away from the prone man.

"Lord Marshal... I did not know. I plead for forgiveness..."

Although, he did have to wonder why Riddick was in his room. Especially after the Lord Marshal had insisted that they go their own separate ways. But he would not question, not when it could mean his... well, not his life, though that was a bit slow sinking in. Riddick really couldn't kill him. But his aching face showed that he could hurt him, a lot.

Riddick had taken a deep breath just before the other man had turned on him and took him down.As Riddick was in the air it hit him. Holy shit this is Vaako and the fucker can think for himself. As he hit the ground hard and he felt the axe at his throat and felt knees on his chest. It hurt when he hit the ground but he laughed. And hard. His laughter despite the pain filled the room.He barely managed out between pain and laughter.

"Holy shit! You can think for yourself and I'll be damned ya can fight back without being commanded."But then Riddick frowned heavily and pushed the other man forcibly away. Why in the hell was this man in his room? Why in the hell did the man not understand Riddick wanted to be as far away from him as he could be?

"Why in the fuck are you in my room,Vaako?I told ya to stay the fuck away!!" Riddick's words were angry but yet even as he spoke, he was sure he knew the answer and he didn't like it. Not at all.

What could Riddick to do him? Sure, he couldn't kill him, but then, there was a lot of things that could be done without killing someone. In fact, somethings that were done would make death seem like a welcome release. He was about to see just how sadistic a Furyan could be, he was sure of it.

Instead of an attack, though, he was met by simple laughter. He flushed a little, not liking that the man was laughing at him. He had never, ever liked being laughed at. The Lord Marshal's words had him blinking in confusion. He was glad it was dark, though with those odd eyes of his, Riddick could probably see everything he did. He quickly adjusted his expression to neutrality once more.

"You commanded me to defend myself... and I did not know it was you. I did what I would have done had anyone attacked me."

He frowned, that confusion coming back onto his face for mere seconds before he smoothed it down again. But still, he couldn't quite understand what the other man was saying. He'd been so sure he'd read the room number right, and it was the same as his key. Why would the key have worked in the wrong door?

"I... didn't know... My Lord, I will go now to find my own room. I thought this was it."

Riddick, despite the darkness, could see every move Vaako made. Every expression. He was glad it was dark because despite his anger he was now wearing a smile. The man had fucking defended himself and shit the man could fucking fight. He mumbled out in anger.

"Glad ya listened to me now ain't ya?" Then Riddick stopped and sat up,bringing his knees to his chest as he studied the other man. Fuck. This planet had it out for him he was sure of it.He growled out at the same time he placed his hand out."Give me your key."

Riddick knew. And that damn feeling of calm was trying to settle over him again. The feeling of this all happening for a reason was not helping him at all. He did not like where his thoughts were going

"This fucking planet has it out for me..."Riddick spoke in a very angry tone as he waited for Vaako to turn over the key. Though he didn't need it to know the truth.

He had been about to stand and go to the door, to find the room that was his, when that low, deep voice spoke once more. With a low sigh, he sunk back down onto the ground and held out the key. Years of habit didn't even have him question his automatic response to do as the Lord Marshal willed.

He waited for Riddick to return the key, as he looked around the room. It was functional, something that he would have expected from the Furyan. But it had two beds. He didn't understand that. Why would his room have two beds? It didn't make any sense. His eyes, having now adjusted mostly to the dark, gazed around the room. Not only did Riddick have two beds, but he also had a closet full of the sorts of clothing that he, himself would wear. Simple, dark clothing that he would favor while out of his armor.

Despite what one might thing, he was not a stupid man. He wouldn't be alive if he had been. So he sat there, processing everything, and came to a conclusion that he wasn't sure made any sense. His eyes widened, and he rose to his feet.

"This hellish place can't possibly mean that we...?"

Riddick stared at the key for along damn time. The numbers on it burning into his brain. In his anger he threw the key against the wall, hearing it bang and then fall to the ground. He stood and began to pace in anger.

"Great just fucking great." Riddick spoke mostly to himself. He had been right. And now he was fighting an inner battle against wanting to be angry and the planet wanting him to be calm.

At the moment Vaako spoke so did Riddick, finishing the man's sentence. "Apparently it means you and I are to share a room." Riddick looked around noticing all the things that were now in his room that were not there this morning or even when he left. And for some reason he remembered his dreams from his restless slumber.

"Motherfucker.I knew all along.Fuck."Riddick stopped his pacing and moved to grab some clothes the fact that he was still in a towel, and the fact that it was barely hanging on had escaped him until now.

Slowly, his brain whirling, the dark-haired man went over to the wall and nearly automatically retrieved his key. Then, he turned back to the Lord Marshal, noticing his attire for the first time. Previously, he'd been too busy adjusting to the low level of light in the place. Now, he'd become about as night-sighted as he ever got, and could make more details out. Including that the man who was his Lord Marshal was very nearly naked.

Another flush of color rose up into his pale cheeks, and he stared for a long moment before forcing himself to look away. It was just that he rarely saw men dressed in as little as Riddick was wearing. All of the Necromongers wore thick armor, as he himself did. No one would bare themselves as much as Riddick was doing, no one would risk that much vulnerablity. He would have called Riddick foolish for doing so, but the other man was still alive.

"So. We are to share a room. Is there... some sort of complaint process? Or someone I can threaten to kill to change the room assignments? Someone with an odd sense of humor must have decided I was supposed to be here."

He walked over to his side of the room, set the axe against the wall, and sighed internally as he flipped through the clothing. It was all very well made, very functional, and something he would pick out for himself if he wasn't wearing armor. Of course, if he was rooming with Riddick, he wasn't sure he'd ever be out of his armor. Having the Furyan as his roommate was probably similar to having a hellhound as one.

Riddick in all his anger was fighting to keep the damn towel up,fighting to find some damn clothes and fighting several emotions, demons and inner arguments. This he was not at all used to. Why would the planet do this? There was no killing, did this damn planet not realize that it had just put two killers together and two killers who couldnot get along? Hell it would be like him and Toombs rooming together if the other man were alive and Riddick was sure he was not.

Finding his clothes,Riddick turned and glared at Vaako. But he found the man staring at him and he could almost feel the heat of the other man's blush. What the fuck? he stormed off to get dressed and once he as fully dressed he emerged from the bathroom.

His voice was low and almost resigned as he spoke. "You can complain and threaten but this damn planet brought us together for a reason. Clearly it has a great sense of humor. I don't like this any more than you do, trust me.But yet I knew it was coming."Goddamn it.The calmness was winning and that was bad. Because the moment Riddick regained his anger,it would be bad toward anone he was around.

Damn it. It was simply not appropriate to stare at the Lord Marshal, even if he was traipsing around half-naked in a towel. He was seriously going to get himself smacked around more if he didn't watch it. He turned around determinedly, facing the wall as Riddick attempted to find clothing. Oh, this was going to be fun. He'd never been a big fan of having a roommate at all, and he and his wife had had separate quarters for most of their marriage. This, however, was going to be far worse than anything he'd endured with the lovely Dame Vaako.

He waited as the Lord Marshal got dressed, sitting down on the bed once it was safe to turn around. At least, he thought to himself with one of his dry surges of humor that he kept to himself, he wouldn't have to worry about the other man keeping him awake all night with bright lights. That definately wouldn't be a problem.

"Well, all we have to do is sleep here, am I right? This place... it doesn't require us to be in this room all the time, does it? So, perhaps it will be okay. We might not even notice that we have a roommate, if we're careful."

But he did like his own space, he had to admit. Maybe they could work something out where they hung up curtains or something like that? That would at leat give the semblance of privacy.

Riddick frowned as he looked at the other man on the bed. The darkness of course not bothering him at all.And his eyes gave him the ability to see much more than the naked eye could.and there was something about this man. Riddick was able to read people well but not their minds. yet it was like he could tell what the other man was thinking so he verbalized it.

"Several things ya have to get used to. One the lack of light at night and during the day. I prefer the darkness so I don't have to wear the damn glasses unless I go out.Second?"Riddick paused smirking knowing this was going to get the other man. " I prefer to run around sometimes with no clothing. Deal with it. And clearly this damn planet not only likes to control us by putting people together that hate each other it also likes to control feelings."

Riddick scowled hating this calmness a lot more than he let on.he wanted to be able to get angry. If the planet want them happy then why did it do this?

"As you wish. I will not complain."

Actually, if Riddick told him to leave, he would go, even if it meant sleeping on the beach. It was the whole obediance thing that was basically drilled into him from day one of being a Necromonger. He took off a plated boot, dumped some sand out, and then repeated on the other foot. He looked at the armor for a second before sighing and leaving it off. It was just his lower legs, he couldn't be hurt too badly if he was attacked there.

This was going to be a challenge, no doubt about it. A Lord Marshal's commander should not be this close to his leader. It was just a bad idea, and would likely, in Necromonger society, lead to a dead commander. Here, that couldn't happen, but still. It was going to be awkward.

"Perhaps, sometime soon, we can find some sort of alternate arrangement. For now, this has to work."

Riddick watched as the other man got undressed and he seemed to be confused about the fact that the clothing provided didn't have armor with it. Riddick would have laughed, he honestly would have. But laughing was the last thing from his mind right now. In fact, Riddick's mind was not even close to being cleared, but it was heavy with confusion. And clearly trying to figure out a way out of this new situation. Maybe he could somehow find a way to get another room. Though he somehow thought that was out of the question. Why? because clearly this planet thought he needed a worshiping, mindless fool by his side and in his room. At least it was kind enough to provide him with an extra bed or well that would have been awkward. Then the intense man had to shake his head at that thought and try not to think about the fact that Vaako had stared a lot longer than needed when Riddick was battling the towel earlier. Letting out an annoyed sigh, Riddick moved to takehis knives from a resting place at the foot of the bed and moved them to the table right beside of his bed. He wasn't sure he should trust Vaako. Hell right now he didn't trust himself.

"Yeah well when ya come up with a suitable arrangement that doesn't involve curtains hanging in places they shouldn't be or complaining on deaf ears for lack of a better expression let me know."

Sitting down upon his bed, he tried to ignore the other man,the confused state he must be in. He also tried to ignore his own confusion, the calmness still within and the fact that he was wishing like hell that he could get angry. He wanted to, he needed to. Yet it just wasn't happening. And here Riddick thought he was fully in control of himself at all times.Maybe the anger truly left him,but Ridick was doubtful.

Pulling out a notebook, he managed to get lost in it,forgetting Vaako was there as he wrote down the information he had gathered as that was very important to him. Getting lost in finding a way out of here was just what he needed. And now it was more important than ever for him to find a way.
