Who? The Doctor & Rose Tyler.
Where? Their room.
When? Morning.
What? General cuteness.
Rating? TBD, probably PG-13ish, but who knows!
Status: Complete.

Day Seven on the planet had been a bad day; he'd practically decided he was going to molest a perfect stranger, and that was out of character to say the least. It had been a disturbing experience, and there was something traumatic about feeling out of control in such a peculiar way. He had been rather relieved to hear that he wasn't the only person who had fallen into such a state, and he could only gather one rather ominous message from it all. The planet wanted them to breed, it wanted to expand it's population in a more... natural way. By releasing chemicals into the air that would make them jump each other. That really, really unsettled the Doctor... and so he had snuck off to the TARDIS, moving deeper and deeper inside his almost infinite ship in search of a place of comfort and safety away from all the madness of the planet. After wandering through his ship for what must have been a few hours, the Doctor suddenly realised why he wasn't able to find a place of comfort within the blue box. It wasn't a location he was searching for, but rather a person.

By the time he'd found his way back out into the resort it was getting late, and he was rather disappointed to find that Rose had already fallen asleep. Still, her presence was enough to calm him, and he was able to sit near her and feel some sense of contentment. After a while, he decided that perhaps it wouldn't be so terrible if he had a few hours sleep - he hadn't slept since the night of their drunken antics, and although he wasn't particularly tired he felt that even a little nap might do him some good, and soothe him further. He was pleased to find, on opening up a drawer, that the planet had given him a replica of the pajama's that Rose's mother had given him at Christmas. He didn't know everything there was to know about human etiquette, but he had at least gathered that waking up next to a semi-naked person was cause for great concern - and apparently great amusement, if sitcoms were anything to go by. So he changed, and slipped into bed next to Rose.

There was something so soothing about her sleeping next to him; the warmth of her body, the steady rhythm of her breathing and the stillness that now surrounded them, making him feel as if they were inside their own little vacuum, free from the stresses and strains of being stuck on Mirage. He soon drifted off to sleep, blissfully unaware that throughout the next few hours he would become intertwined with her - an arm moving to wrap around her waist, his head dropping to rest against her shoulder, his legs moving to become entangled with hers, as if some unconscious desire was making his body pull her closer to him.

"Mmm, you're right. I'm glad you saved me." She laughed again, shaking her head. "Would your hair even settle down enough once you grew it out? I wonder..." She couldn't help but scrunch up her nose at the thought. "Nah. I like your hair like it is now. But...yeah. I could see that. Er- you being indecisive and restless about it all."

"Good, I thought you might appreciate it one day," he teased.

"I don't know, it might just get taller and taller until I start looking like... like..." he raised his eyebrows, unable to think of someone to compare himself to. "Marge Simpson?" he suggested eventually, bursting into laughter the second the suggestion passed his lips. "Yeah, 'fraid so. Maybe I'll change my mind one day, but... I don't see it, really," he admitted.

He was quite sure that Rose understood; he had the feeling that settling down on one planet, living out a slow, linear life would just destroy him. It would take away his purpose, his meaning. And yet, at the same time, he knew that Rose's promises of 'forever' couldn't quite come true. She would grow old, one day she wouldn't be able to travel with him anymore... and then what? He subconsciously tightened his grip on her, not wanting to let himself think about all the nasty business that was still so far away.

"Oh shut it," she retorted, poking him lightly in the side. She burst into giggles at his next. "Marge Simpson? Would you dye it blue, too, if it did that?"

"Yeah, and a perm," he retorted, nudging her in return. "I always wondered about the blue hair. There's no indication that she dyes it. Mind you, they only have eight fingers, and are clearly suffering from liver disease with that yellow skin, so the hair should be the least suspect thing about them," he commented rather geekily.

"There's no indication that they are all that different from us," she replied, rolling her eyes with good nature. "For all we know it's some form of parallel world, showing itself to use through the television screen." She had no idea if that sort of thing was even possible, but hey- who knew?

Her stomach rumbled a moment later and she looked down, tilting her head slightly. "I wonder if there's a menu in here somewhere..." Leaning up, she kissed the Doctor on the lips before untangling herself. She needed to use the restroom, since she hadn't gone since she'd woken up. She was just crossing the room when she paused by the window, her eyes widening as she looked outside. "..Doctor?"

"That'll be why they never quite manage to say which state Springfield is meant to be in," he laughed, not taking the suggestion particularly seriously, but it was worth a giggle at least.

He smiled as she kissed his lips, and rolled over as she left the bed, opening the drawer of the bedside cabinet in search of a menu. He grinned widely as he discovered it to be the location of the telephone he had been sure he'd spotted before. He didn't have a chance to investigate any further, however, as Rose called out his name in such a way that he instantly assumed something horrible had happened. He hopped out of bed and dashed to her side, his eyes growing wide as he took in the view from the window.

"What?" he scrunched up his nose in complete confusion. He pulled the sliding door open and stepped out onto the balcony as if the view would suddenly change without the glass obscuring it; it didn't change, funnily enough. "Think it heard that we don't like ranches?" he asked, a small smile playing on his lips; it was completely mental, but then that was what they did best.

"Maybe?" She said, looking somewhat worried. She really needed to use the bathroom, though, and turned, practically skipping off. Returning a few moments later, she almost hesitantly stepped out onto the patio, frowning slightly to see how all of the buildings had changed. "It's so weird."

"I- well, suppose we could go swimming later?" She rest her hands on the railing in front of her as she leaned forward, trying to see what all had changed. "We'll have to go exploring again. Can we? Later? Maybe there's new stuff to do, too!"

"I don't..." he stopped short as he realised he was talking to himself. He moved to lean against the railing as he surveyed the new landscape. That was... apparently not impossible, but at least a bit unlikely.

He turned to give Rose a reassuring smile as she reappeared. "I... I don't think we've moved, it's just changed around us. Yeah, pretty weird even for us!" he shrugged. "Yeah! We have to go and explore. It's not every day a planet just changes completely overnight! Very exciting!" he exclaimed, feeling his enthusiasm that had been lost the day before start to return. "This looks... a lot better than a ranch!" he nodded eagerly.

"I think so, too. Look, a pool! And..." Rose leaned forward, stepping up on one of the horizontal bars of the balcony. "Is that...Do you see dolphins? Or maybe that's just a picture- I can't tell from up here." She scrunched up her nose slightly. "I can't decide if we should order in or just go eat and explore or- what do you think we should do?"

The Doctor was practically bounding up and down with the excitement of a new place to explore. "Oh, this is... fantastic!" he gushed, turning to her with a wide smile. "Right, you know I won't be able to sit still! I vote eat and explore!" he told her, his smile growing dangerously large.

He didn't even wait for a response as he dashed back into the room, making his way to the wardrobe and pulling out clothes as if he were extremely late for a very important meeting.

Rose burst into laughter as he went running back into the room. She took one more look out over the changed landscape and then turned to make her way back into the room, closing the balcony door behind her and searching for her own clothes. It was going to be a fantastic day.
