Day Seven on the planet had been a bad day; he'd practically decided he was going to molest a perfect stranger, and that was out of character to say the least. It had been a disturbing experience, and there was something traumatic about feeling out of control in such a peculiar way. He had been rather relieved to hear that he wasn't the only person who had fallen into such a state, and he could only gather one rather ominous message from it all. The planet wanted them to breed, it wanted to expand it's population in a more... natural way. By releasing chemicals into the air that would make them jump each other. That really, really unsettled the Doctor... and so he had snuck off to the TARDIS, moving deeper and deeper inside his almost infinite ship in search of a place of comfort and safety away from all the madness of the planet. After wandering through his ship for what must have been a few hours, the Doctor suddenly realised why he wasn't able to find a place of comfort within the blue box. It wasn't a location he was searching for, but rather a person.

By the time he'd found his way back out into the resort it was getting late, and he was rather disappointed to find that Rose had already fallen asleep. Still, her presence was enough to calm him, and he was able to sit near her and feel some sense of contentment. After a while, he decided that perhaps it wouldn't be so terrible if he had a few hours sleep - he hadn't slept since the night of their drunken antics, and although he wasn't particularly tired he felt that even a little nap might do him some good, and soothe him further. He was pleased to find, on opening up a drawer, that the planet had given him a replica of the pajama's that Rose's mother had given him at Christmas. He didn't know everything there was to know about human etiquette, but he had at least gathered that waking up next to a semi-naked person was cause for great concern - and apparently great amusement, if sitcoms were anything to go by. So he changed, and slipped into bed next to Rose.

There was something so soothing about her sleeping next to him; the warmth of her body, the steady rhythm of her breathing and the stillness that now surrounded them, making him feel as if they were inside their own little vacuum, free from the stresses and strains of being stuck on Mirage. He soon drifted off to sleep, blissfully unaware that throughout the next few hours he would become intertwined with her - an arm moving to wrap around her waist, his head dropping to rest against her shoulder, his legs moving to become entangled with hers, as if some unconscious desire was making his body pull her closer to him.

Rose, by this point, had rolled onto her stomach, propping her chin up on her hands. She smiled faintly as he spoke, then nodded by the end of it. "Anywhere in particular on Earth, or just...Earth in general?" She couldn't help but ask it! "I'm rather fond of London, but...I don't know if I've ever really thought about where else I'd go if I could. I never thought that I'd be able to leave."

"Oh, it's got to be Britain! I mean, come on! Tea and chips and... and the Beatles and Wimbledon, and the rain, my god, rainy days with a bit of Shakespeare," he rambled on, his enthusiasm quite apparent as he started talking up Rose's home country; not that he really thought of it that way, he'd loved London ever since he'd first arrived, no matter how much he moaned about it. The police-box should have given that away, if nothing else.

"I'd have more difficulty picking a year to stick to, actually. Too many good vintages!" he pointed out, unable to hide his grin.

Rose snorted with laughter, unable to keep from smiling as he rambled. "Well, I can tell you that I'm glad you like Britain so much. We might not have met if you didn't." She rolled back onto her side and snuggled up close to his side. "I don't think I could pick a year, either."

"Like it, Rose? No, no, no! I love it!" he gushed cheesily, unable to keep himself from laughing along with her. "Oh, well that's just unthinkable," he mumbled, pulling her close to him once more as she turned onto her side. Really, he wasn't sure that he would have turned out quite the way he had if it hadn't been for Rose. She'd helped him heal after the war, and that wasn't exactly a task just anyone could take on.

"Mmm, I try to think logically, like... I'd want to be in a time where they at least had basic sanitation. And at least a little technology, or I'd just get bored. Anything pre-1900 should purely be for visiting," he admitted; as much as he loved passing through Earth's older periods, he couldn't imagine himself living permanently during such a time. "And no world wars. The era's were great, but it's just be way too stressful," he added.

"Completely," she agreed, smiling faintly as he pulled her closer. "I'd still be stuck in that shop. Well, if I'd even made it out of there." She pulled a face and shook her head. "That doesn't matter so much now, though."

She grinned as he mused aloud. "The sixties? I could see you as a hippie living in a commune." She tried to keep a straight face as she said this, but she couldn't help but burst into giggles just moments after the words were out of her mouth.

"Death by living plastic? Nah, not Rose Tyler. Never," he insisted, placing a kiss to her forehead.

The Doctor laughed with her, giving her an eager nod. "Worryingly enough, so can I. I could tell as many crazy stories as I wanted, and they'd all think I was being deep and metaphorical or something," he giggled. "Funnily enough, that was the first time I saw Earth. 1963, but not a commune in sight, sadly. Mind you, don't think I'd have appreciated it as much back then," he grinned, just picturing the younger him smacking the lot of them with his cane and telling them to get a grip.
