Day 7 - COMPLETE
Who: Brigitte Fitzgerald & Edward Cullen
Where: The Forest
When: Day 7 at sunset
Why: A close encounter of the supernatural kind
Rating: PG-13
Status: COMPLETE!

Brigitte had spent most of the day inside camped out in the library researching belladonna, also known as deadly nightshade. Since Elminster told it could be used to cure lycanthropy Brigitte became interested in knowing all that she could about it. By sunset her journal was full of notes and her head felt like it was full of cobwebs. The teenager closed a dusty tome and decided it was time for some fresh air. She left the library to head outside to get to the unit she was rooming in and that was the first dose of pheromones Brigitte got from the grass. Luckily for the teenager she hadn't run into anyone but she was already beginning to feel the effects. Her body relaxed and Brigitte let her senses expand.

The werewolf naturally had heighten senses but Brigitte tried not to focus too much on the various scents and sounds she picked up because it made her feel less human. Tonight was different. Tonight Brigitte welcomed all the different scents that rose off the earth. She could smell the flowers from the distant garden, the drifting odors from the kitchen, the forest...I could go for a walk, she thought as she reached Unit F. She went to her room quickly to drop off her journal and books and to change. Blue jeans, a black t-shirt and running shoes. Nothing fancy but a change from the usual sweaters Brigitte covered herself with.

Soon Brigitte set out for the forest, the setting sun creating a reddish orange backdrop and casting the trees into shadow. Like some dark forest from a fairy tale, Brigitte mused as she reached the trees. Except I'm not exactly little Red Riding Hood.

Once Edward managed to unglue his tounge from the roof of his mouth, his apologies seem to become mixed in with hers.Though he hadnt the foggiest idea what he was apologizing for.

He gave a barking laugh as she turned a bright shade of red, giving the young wolf a crooked grin. "I'm pretty sure thats not that first time thats happened"He said calmly. If it were possable, he would have been 3 times as red as her. Thankfully what he said was the truth, it was the first time a humanand thought him kissable, but a werewolf?that was new.

He took a small step backward, arms going back to being crossed, not that he was being polite, it was just he wouldnt want.to.kiss.her.again. Because right now every viber of being wanted to. He wasnt sure why, it was interesting.

Brigitte forced herself to take a deep breath so she would relax and not be blushing so much. "I should probably get going", she said out loud. "I've already made a complete fool of myself for some unexplainable reason and the earth just isn't listening to my silent commands to swallow me whole", the werewolf rambled off.

As though to illustrated her words, Brigitte moved further away from Edward. Not quite leaving yet because she need to calm down and get her bearings. The teenager forced herself to look into the forest to try and remember how to get out of her.

Her embarrassment had shocked some sense into the brunette but she was still a little befuddled by what had just happened and couldn't think straight. It didn't help that her sense of smell was more focused on Edward and that sweet scent then which way the resort was.

"God, I can't think. This smell is driving me nuts", Brigitte grumbled out loud. Admitting defeat she glanced back over her shoulder at Edward.

"I know you probably want to slap with assault charges right now but you wouldn't be able to point me in the direction of the resort, would you?"

Edward took another uneeded breathe, trying to clear his head and make sense of what was going on here, instead all he got for his troubles was another lungful of the overly sweet flower smell that made him cough.

He nodded at her as she basically took the words right out of his mouth "It smells to flowery for me,like this entire planet has been overrun with flowers or something"He said, jamming his hands in his pockets so he would be less tempted to touch the dark haired werewolf.

Snorting with laughter at her words he nodded, his dark eyes could see better in the dark then her human ones(dont werewolfs have good eyesight in human form to.Oh do shut up edwardhe thought to himself "Sure thing"

Before he could try to figure why he did what he did, he reached behind, linking his hand in hers as he led her through the dark undergrowth of the forest.

“Thanks”, Brigitte replied. She was relieved that he wasn’t as freaked out as she expected but surprised when the vampire took her hand. Her mouth opened but closed before Brigitte could say anything. If he wanted to hold her hand, why object? His skin felt slightly cool but she had almost expected ice cold being that Edward was a vampire and all.

Guess the legends about vampires are only half true, Brigitte thought as they moved across the undergrowth.

It wasn’t night time yet but the sun had pretty much set, leaving the forest covered in deep shadows. Brigitte could see fairly well but for her the strongest sense was smell so the werewolf relied on it heavily. Which kinda sucked since the whole forest seemed to be overrun with one particular scent.

The silence made it harder for Brigitte to ignore the scent or the fact that Edward was holding her hand as they walked so despite her misgivings, Brigitte started talking once more. Don’t make an ass of yourself, she silently warned.

“So where are you from?” Brigitte asked, glancing at Edward. “I’m guessing it’s not Transylvania”, she added with a wry grin.

He laughed "No,nowhere near there.I'm from uh,forks, forks Washington actually"He said calmly.

The sun was still ingering on the horizen, but darkness was already taken over, and dark shadows were in pockets everywhich way one looked. It didnt distract edward however, from how weirdly nice her hand felt in his, or how he slowed his pace down so the young wolf wouldnt have to scurry to keep up.

The sicking sweet flower smell was more overbeing outof the forest then in it,or at least it seemed that way to edward. "So um..How long have you been a werewolf?"

"Um..." Brigitte started awkwardly, keeping her eyes glued on the trees in front of her. "A year now and counting", she admitted with a sigh. "I've been trying to find a cure but--" She shrugged. "No luck". Unable to help herself, she glanced at Edward.

"You wouldn't happen to have any suggestions in area, would you?" Sizing up his handsome features once more made Brigitte wonder how old he was so she turned his question on him.

"What about you?" She asked as they walked through the wilderness. "Have you been this way long?"

Edward frowned at her question, before shaking his head sadly "I dont think their is a cure actually"He informed her sadly.

He found himself unable to look away from her, depsite his best efforts to keep his eyes foward, in case their was danger, before finally giving up and using his acute vamp senses to guide them out of the slightly darkened jungle.

Her question made him pause."About..107,maybe 108 years now.Its hard to keep track after the first 10."He admitted with a nod.

Brigitte was starting to worry there wasn't a cure either but she wasn't about to give up searching now. Not after Sam had gotten himself killed trying to help her and Ginger. Not after everything Brigitte had gone through the past year.

When Edward admitted his age, Brigitte stopped suddenly, her mouth open with shock. "A hundred...a hundred and eight years?" she breathed. She knew vampires were suppose to be immortal, if the legends were true, but to hear it like that, so simply stated blew Brigitte's mind.

"Holy crap, how could you live that long?" she murmured out loud as she resumed walking. The trees were starting to get sparser now and Brigitte could see the resort beyond them. She was actually able to keep her eyes on the horizon for a bit thanks to the shock of hearing Edward's age.

"How long can you live for? Hundreds of years or is there a limit?" Brigitte had to ask as they finally made their way past the trees.

"Sorry"He muttered sadly. He could see smell the sadness on her.It would have been nice if there had been a cure, maybe then someone would get to know, the real non-wolfy version,of her?

His pity for her turned into amusment at her apperant shock of how old he was."I live day to day, like everyone else.Though we vamps really dont keep track of time like everyone else does..or at least my family doesnt anyway"He said shrugging.

His eyes flicked to horizon, where the resort lay in the fat distance and he shook his head at her question as they made their way out of the forest

"I dont think theres a time limit"He said, looking thoughtfull "forever is a long time after all.Maybe when the world ends?"He shrugged."Usually we live until someone comes along and destroys us.Which is rare"

"Huh", Brigitte murmured. It crossed her mind to ask what could destroy vampires but chose not to. That question could be taken the wrong way. She really didn't want to piss off Edward, especially not while they were holding hands.

It shocked the brunette when she remembered that. The feel of his hand in hers had felt so natural that she hadn't even thought about it. As much as Brigitte's body tried to resist the orders from her brain, she forced herself to let go. Bringing that free hand up to sweep through her brown locks, Brigitte stared at Edward.

"There's something going on here. Something really weird. I don't normally go around kissing strange boys and holding their hands. Hell, I've never held a guy's hand before now. Is it just me?" Brigitte asked before adding, "Or do you feel this is weird too?"

Edward frowned, catching the tail end of the young wolfs thoughts. He briefly though about answering them but didnt want to freak her to much more.Admitting he was a vampire was one thing, but admitting you were a mind reading vampire was quite different.

He absently jammed his hands back in pockets when she let go of his hand.Finding it ironic that he had forgetting he was even holding it in the first place.

Her question however caught his attention, and he nodded "It is weird Yeah,I normally...Normally dont hang out with werewolfs. No offense"He said, giving her a sheepish look."Whatever this is Must be powerful to affect me so I dont think its just you."He said with a shrug.

It was a bit of relief to hear she wasn't the only one affected or felt that this whole thing was really weird. Her expression was slightly wry when he said he didn't normally hang out with werewolves. "Why not? Is it against some sort of vampire etiquette?" she asked as they entered the meadow.

"Not that I can say I hang out with vampires a lot", the teenager added with a slight snort. "Before today I never even knew they existed. Funny, huh?" The stars were starting to come out now as the sun had completely disappeared. No sign of a moon which made Brigitte feel a little more relived but it wouldn't be too long before she saw one of the fabled two moons that John had told her about. It was an unpleasant thought that caused the teen to sigh.

"So what are the werewolves you know of like? Are they also controlled by the full moon?"

He paused, before looking down at his shoes, mumbling his answer "Not...not exactly...In my world the only werewolfs that are around are usually designed to kill us."He thought briefly back to the stories of the Quileute pack stories, and shuddered.

He glanced back at the young girl briefly, before turning his attentions to the ground in front of them, still leading the way to the main dorms, which seemed to be a long way off.Still,he enjoyed the darkness, and seemed to straighten up a little.

"you mean like the stories"He bit his lip, mostly to keep from laughing. He knew humans were always curious about his kind, but most of the stories, both wolfish and vampire-wise, were pure bullshit. "Well the ones I know dont, but maybe somewhere theres a pack that is"He said lightly."The Quileutes, thats the pack I know if,can change at will..more-so when their upset..or sad"

Well, that explains his earlier attitude, Brigitte thought when Edward told her about the werewolves in his world. No one was about to be friendly to a creature that was normally the type trying to kill them. “Wow, that sucks. If it’s any consolation, I promise I won’t try to kill you”, Brigitte said wryly.

She felt envious of the werewolves he described who could change at will. If Brigitte could have that kind of control she would never change at all. “Must be nice”, she said simply with a trace of bitterness. Slowly but steadily the pair were moving back toward the residences and for a few moments Brigitte let the silence grow between. It was a surprising comfortable silence considering she and Edward were relative strangers. Maybe you’re getting use to being around strangers. You’re practically surrounded by them, with the exception of Ginger.

“Are you here by yourself?” the brunette asked Edward. “I mean, did anyone else you know show up on the planet?”

He laughed, though he knew she was probaly just trying to be nice. That and from what he had heard, vampires werent all that common in her world. "Thanks,And I promise not to bite you"

He shrugged, keeping his eyes focused straight ahead, though he really wanted to look at her,but he was well above petty human lust,or at least he had thought so."I dont know if 'nice'is the right word, more like annoying."He,his narrowing darkly."But jacobs pack stays off our land if we stay off theres,so I guess in a way it is nice"

Her question caught him off guard. The memorys of his family, and worse yet, bella, flashed quickly in his mind before he shook his head "No one I know has turned up,at least as far I know they havnt".He glanced at the girl curiously "What about you?Any family?"He grinned "Or fellow werewolfs?"

“Yes on the last two”, Brigitte admitted. “My sister Ginger’s here and she’s also got that werewolf curse going for her”. Normally Brigitte might have kept Ginger’s condition to herself but so far her experience here had shown that werewolves didn’t seem to faze people. Her conversation with Edward had already revealed he could pick out a werewolf from the average person. Hell, Edward here knew more about werewolves than Brigitte probably, given that he knew a whole pack. Besides, given Ginger’s volatile state of mind it would be best to give Edward a heads-up about the second werewolf.

“I can’t promise she won’t try to bite you”, the brunette said bluntly. “She’s….she’s…” Brigitte stopped, not knowing how to describe her sister without using words like ‘violent’ or ‘unstable’. “She likes to give into those animal urges”, Brigitte finally decided.

This had truly been a strange night for the teenager. She had met her first vampire, kissed said vampire and was now discussing her werewolf sister with him. “Huh. This has been a very odd night”, she commented.

Edward whistled, raising an eyebrow slightly "a whole family of werewolfs?"He asked curiously. He knew there were other packs like jacobs, but most packs werent related by blood.

He frowned slightly as she described the other wolf."she's basically a wild one then?"He asked, shrugging."I wouldnt worry about being bitten,I've held my own against others like her before"He paused, given her a sheepish look "Though if she does I cant promise I wont hurt her."He added.

It was indeed a strange night. For edward it wasnt very often he met, kissed, and held an actual conversation with a werewolf...well a conversation that didnt go behind 'Im going to kill you'anyway. "very strange"he muttered.

“Just promise me you’ll try not to kill her…although, considering that’s against the rules of planet maybe you won’t even be able to try”, Brigitte added thoughtfully. Back when Brigitte had first arrived John had told her and Ginger about another werewolf who had tried to attack someone and how that werewolf had been quickly taking care of. Of course, this brought up an interesting question for Brigitte. “Wait. You feed off animals, right?” the brunette asked Edward, glancing at the boy. “That kills them right? And have you killed any animals here so far?”

The teenager asked this because it could be useful to her. If Edward could get away with killing forest animals then maybe she might be able to temper Ginger’s wild side and her own animal urges by heading into the forest when the pair started to change. Brigitte didn’t want to kill innocent people anyway but she sure as hell didn’t want to be punish over an accidental killing either.

“You haven’t had anything bad happen so far, have you?”

He raised his hands,as if in defeat, grinning "I promise there will be no killing of the werewolfs."He agreed "Scouts honor"He added with a nod.He was sure the planet wouldnt let him anyway, even if if was prvoked.

He frowned at her question. It wasnt like he hadnt been asked about his eating habits before, but that had mostly been by bella,so he hadnt been to worried. "Yeah,a few"He said slowly, running his hand through his hair "Just a few deers and A bear so far I think"He said shrugging, and gave her a curious look"Mostly wild animals"He said softly.

He frowned, pausing as the buildings became only a short distance away and shook his head "Nothing yet. Why?"

"I was just wondering if the no killing rule included animals", Brigitte answered. "Since nothing bad has happened to you I'm guessing that it doesn't". This was good news to Brigitte because at least she knew neither she nor Ginger would be punished if the killed a rabbit or something. Now it was just a matter of convincing her sister to stay away from humans when she felt hungry. “I guess the planet is more concerned about us all killing each other than it is about a few animals being killed and—“ Brigitte broke off as a thought occurred to her.

“Or is it supply the animals to be killed?” she wondered out loud. It made sense, especially if the planet was trying to meet their needs. Vampires like Edward would need blood and monsters like her and Ginger would need something to tear to pieces. What if the animals were being plucked up from other worlds just like the people were? It was an interesting thought to Brigitte as she and Edward made their way back to the resort. They were getting close enough now that they were almost at the residential area. “Huh. This place is serious about meeting people’s needs. I wonder why it’s so accommodating and if it wants anything in return?”

"thats one theory"He said thoughtfully, pondering the question. The few times he had been hunting nothing bad happened to him,no black holes of doom or stake to the heart(though that probaly would have just pissed him off)and whatnot.

It made sense though, seeing as it was in his nature, and werewolfs nature as well,to hunt rather then sit around in a cafe with a cup of blood,or raw animal peices.Less attention grabbing as well. "That or maybe it just doesnt want a riot on its hands?I've seen it happen when a vampire is outed, humans are weird that way"He shrugged, remembering the the torch carrying mob,and the overwhelming smell of fear.Of course that had been from his dads mind, but still..frightening.

"Good point. With the no killing rule, I'm assuming the planet wants everyone to get along although some of the people I've met so far weren't bothered by the fact that I'm a werewolf", Brigitte admitted before glancing at Edward. "Not that I'm running around telling everyone but like you, some people just figured it out". They were next to residential buildings now and Brigitte see the lighted windows easier and even saw a few shadowed forms moving behind the glass.

"Of course, that doesn't mean everyone is going to be comfortable with it", she added softly as she silently hopped she didn't encounter anyone with a pitchfork during her stay. The teen looked at Edward, still feeling an attraction to him but it wasn't as strong as it had been earlier. It didn't stop Brigitte from feeling a little shy and nervous around him though.

"Thanks for walking me back here and for not freaking out at me earlier. I really, really, really appreciate that", she said with a small laugh. "But I should probably get going. Maybe I'll see you around?"

He nodded, his thoughts briefly turning to the dark haired women who had shown him around the first day he had been dropped here. She hadnt seemed to care about his stature in the supernatural community, though he knew that most humans wouldnt be so..tolerant.

"Humans often fear what they dont understand"He agreed, that included werewolfs"Though Im sure were safe..they also seem to think were just stories, something to scare the kiddies"He remarked, grinning."Though its like im running around telling everyone anyway"He added with a shrug.

He paused in front of the buildings, eyes flicking to the darkened forest he was fixing on heading back to "your welcome"He replied with a smile
