The problem with experimental techniques was that they were just that -- experimental. Prone to disaster. Prone to issues and problems like electricity pouring through his veins one moment while he floated in a vat of green water and the next minute -- this. It reminded him far too much of the beach he'd ended up on after Helen had tried to kill him.

He looked around for any homicidal ex-wives or other murderers, but there didn't seem to be anyone fitting that description in the vicinity, though he could see something, there on the edge of the horizon.

Just what he needed.

Picking his cell phone out of his pocket and snarled when the screen displayed a "out of range" error. Of course. Suspecting that he wouldn't get range anywhere, he still tucked the cell phone back into his pocket and began walking towards what seemed like a mirage and tried not to think how it vaguely resembled the Kent farm.

Lex wasn't that lucky.

Jun awoke early, as always, and took his shower, had a cup of tea, dressed in neatly pressed pants, shirt, vest and tie....tied on his apron and headed down to the resorts cafe for the breakfast shift. He didn't have to of course...everything was taken care of by the Planet and it's golems. Jun just enjoyed doing it...it gave him a sense of normalcy and he liked serving coffe, tea and pastries as he did back on Earth.

After helping the golems, Mr. Stone and Mr. Wood, sweep up, Jun left the cafe and headed toward the lobby to see if any blinking keys were present to signify new arrivals. He was happy (or should he be sad?) to see one blinking away. He quickly retrieved it and headed out to find it's owner.

Jun appeared as if he were doing nothing more than taking a quiet walk around the resort, greeting other 'guests' as he passed. Everyone knew and liked the unassuming young green-haired teenager. Green eyes shifted to the side and squinted a bit..."Ahhhh, I believe I see our new guest", Jun told himself.

Changing direction to meet the new arrival, Jun paused about 50 feet away from the young man. A lightning storm had been through last night and a tree was downed. The golems hadn't cleared it away yet...well, Jun would at least move it off of the main path, so as not to block this gentleman's way. Lifting the oak tree, Jun carried it off of the path and then came back and continued on his mission.

Stopping in front of the new man, the green-haired teenager bowed his head and greeted, "Welcome to Mirage. My name is Ichinomiya Jun, Sir. You may call me Jun. This is your room key. What may I call you?"

There was no way that Lex could miss watching the young, green haired man carrying off the felled tree. Just no way. And watching him do it reminded him of Clark, and all the lies between them, all the things that Lex knew but that Clark constantly lied about.

Here was some boy that didn't even know him and showed him that, no lies, no betrayal, and it hurt. Stung enough to have him steeling himself against their inevitable meeting.

Soon enough he was right, as the young man stopped in front of him. "You're the Concierage?" Was this a nightmare? Taking the key from the young man, Lex walked faster towards the building that he could see, fully expecting him to keep up.

"So I already have a suite waiting for me?" He asked, completely ignoring the other question the other man had asked him.

Concierge? Jun furrowed his brow and rushed around to once again block the newly arrived gentleman’s path. He had dealt with many like this at the café…finely dressed men of wealth who believed they could treat those of lower station in any manner they wished.

“Excuse me, sir. Jun is no concierge. He is also not your servant, nor your slave. If you do not wish to give me your name, that is your right, but I must tell you two things”, he held his hand up and showed one finger, “One…you are on a distant planet and have been brought here by said planet”, he held a second finger up, “…Two…the planet demands that all new arrivals read the tablet it has placed in the center of the resort it has made for us, it’s guests”. Jun was a sweet and very personable young man, but when he set his mind to something or when he felt he’d been insulted, he was a force to be reckoned with.

“For your own good, you must come with me now to read the tablet at the center of the resort”, he crossed his arms over his chest, “This is not a request, sir. I would ask cordially, but your rude manner tells me you would not listen. Please do not make me carry you”.

On the outside Jun was tough as nails, but on the inside, he was feeling rather sad…he would rather have been this newcomer’s friend. So sad, he mused, often, the very wealthy have no real friends.

Lex raised an eyebrow at the two things that he had to be told... and it went higher as Jun threatened to carry him to this tablet-- whatever that was.

He'd be damned before he let anyone carry him anywhere.

"Fine," he snapped and pocketed the key. "Lead the way." He'd read whatever this tablet was and then try to figure this place out. Either it was a nightmare of his own devising -- he really did need a therapist if this was what his mind was cooking up -- or his household staff had drugged him, probably under the guise of his father.

Anything but what Jun had said. Planets weren't sentient and he should know, he dealt long enough with the crap factory in Smallville.

Jun was relieved that the bald man agreed to follow him. He did not enjoy conflict or injuring a man's body or pride, both of which would probably have been quite bruised to say the least.

As they entered the main complex of buildings, Jun's emerald green eyes searched for a few friendly faces he felt sure could help with such a man...John Crichton would know how to handle this one, he was sure and Xena, she would know what to do. Jun tried to hide his smile...maybe not Xena. The new arrival might end up wearing the tablet.

They were almost there. Jun had to try to be sociable at least one more time. "You sound American. Are you American, Sir?", Jun asked conversationally, as they walked.

Arriving at the center of the complex, the green-haired teenager stopped next to the mounted tablet and indicated it with a flourish of his hand, "Here it is, Sir. Once you read this and you have your key. You may be considered on your own".

Next to Jun, the mounted tablet, carved in stone, read:

"Welcome to Mirage.
This is your new home.
Your every need will be fulfilled.
You will have a place to live.
You will have food and clothing.
You will have entertainment.
You will have company.
You will not be able to leave.
You will not kill. Ever.
If you have questions, ask my assistants.
Love,
The Planet"

"You could say that," Lex muttered, not entirely in the mood for small talk with a person that his subconscious created in this nightmare of his.

When Jun held the key out, he took it, careful not to have his skin touch any of the other man's -- more habit than purposeful slight, and read over this tablet.

He was wrong, this wasn't a nightmare.

This was hell.

"What if someone is attacking us?" Was his first question. "We're not allowed to defend ourselves? What if it's an accident?" What is going to happen to my company while I'm gone? "What do you use as currency?"

It wasn't lost on Jun that this sharply dressed man neither wanted to talk to him or touch him.

"You have just arrived, have you not?", he asked the man,"Who do you think is going to attack you?". He crossed his arms and took a few paces away from the man to control any urge to strike out, "If Sir behaves himself, he will have no reason to defend himself. I have seen no one here attack another...and the Planet promises our protection".

Jun sighed deeply, thinking this man must have been trouble wherever he came from, "However, should some unforeseen incident occur and you had to defend yourself, I'm sure that the Planet would be well aware of your innocense". Then, cocking an eyebrow and looking the bald man directly in the eyes, Jun warned, "I suggest yu be very careful and not be as accident prone here as you probably were at home".

Turning to leave, he said over his shoulder, "There is no currency here, Sir. Directions to your room can be found inside the lobby. I bid you, Good Day!".

"Where ever I go, people try to kill me," Lex muttered as he watched the green haired boy walk away rather abruptly.

So he was on his own. That was just fine with him. Taking one more look at the tablet and reading it over one last time, he took the key out of his pocket and headed toward the lobby of the place. Maybe he would get better answers on his own.
