Day Seven
WHO: Legolas and Hatter
WHAT: *bad Elton John impression* Caaaaan you feeeel the looooove toooonight... or, you know, this afternoon. Whatever.
WHEN: Day Seven, early afternoon
WHERE: In the edges of the nearby forest, to start
WARNINGS: PG-13 at most
STATUS: Complete

It was a lovely morning, Legolas thought as he rose in the pre-dawn light. He showered under his waterfall, got dressed, and headed out to watch the sunrise. He stepped out into the morning air, and his nose wrinkled up. It smelled... strange. He had brief, momentary longings for something, but shrugged it off fairly quickly. The smell wasn't that bad, actually. He got used to it quickly, and unaware of how close he had come to being affected by the strange chemicals in the air, he watched the sun rise.

Then, of course, it was off to breakfast. People were acting oddly, he noticed, as they started showing themselves. Humans definately did not rise as early as most elves do. Still, it was none of his concern, neither their rising time nor how they were acting. Anyways, humans always acted oddly. So he quickly ate his breakfast, trying to ignore the weirdness going on around him. Was it human mating time, he wondered idly to himself? Were the humans here that much like animals? This was not how things are done on Middle Earth, even among the humans. Or, at least, he didn't think so. He'd kept himself largely away from the short-lived race.

Eventually, things got strange enough that he decided he wanted away from it. People kept knocking into him, chasing each other around. It was very annoying. Slipping out into the cool morning, he walked quickly away from the ranch, towards the only place he could ever feel at home in this strange place. The forest. Gratefully, he slipped between the trees, and just wandered for several hours.

Time passed, and soon he was hungry for lunch. He slipped out of the depths of the forest, and towards the edge. As he moved closer, he saw a figure moving just at the outskirts. At first, remembering the odd way people had been acting, he was on edge. But this person was, thankfully, alone. He kept a wary eye out, but otherwise, just continued about his business.

"We don't kiss in Wonderland as far as I can recall. I imagine no one likes anyone else enough." He replied casually enough. "I don't kiss people either. I've no idea why I like you." The Hatter was honest at least, even if what he said didn't come off in the nicest of ways. It was true though, he wasn't sure what made him like the blond. He had liked Tonks because her hair had caught his interest, he liked tea because it tasted good, watches because of all the pieces....

The elf's singing maybe? Granted, he'd felt all strange before the other had sang, hadn't he? "This place smells really nice. Did you notice?" He glanced around absently.

He nodded and then smiled, shrugging it off. It wasn't that big a deal, though it was strange. But everything in this place seemed to be strange, so this was just one more thing among many.

Until the man mentioned the smell. He had noticed a different smell on the air today, though it hadn't been enough to drive him to distraction it had made him feel odd, just for a second.

"It does... it is quite different."

He turned to the man once more, and bowed to him.

"I do not know why you like me either, human, but I find you intruiging. Perhaps we shall meet again."

Hatter nodded, agreeing simply to the comment about things smelling different, but not complaining as he liked the smell. Of course, his attentions returned to Legolas when the other bowed to him, tipping his hat lightly in return.

"Human? No, no. I'm Hatter, not Human. I'm sure I'll see you again. I often do meet others more then once. It is very convenient." He explained, from the looks of it, not exactly getting the fact that Legolas was trying to say good bye and be on his way.

The elf blinked. He wasn't used to someone who didn't read the signs he was putting out. He'd never met anyone before that had not realized he was trying to say goodbye. He'd thought he'd made it perfectly clear, but obviously, that wasn't the case. It wasn't in him to be exactly rude, or anyway not on purpose. So he tried again.

"Yes, I would agree, that is convienient. So, hopefully, we shall meet again. I think I will go now, perhaps to my room. So, if you will excuse me..."

The comment about him not being human, he basically ignored. After all, this being said many odd things, and if he wasn't human, he was close enough for Legolas.

"Oh! Well I'll just --" He started at mention of returning to his room, ready to suggest he would come along, but Legolas continued. "Ah, yes...Well, you're excused then." Hatter grumbled, seeming almost insulted as he turned his back and sat down again. Glancing to the empty seat across from him, he scowled, mostly because he was unsure why it angered him so much to have the other leave. Of course, he rarely understood emotions, his own included, but still...

Perhaps he could just follow the blond like he had earlier. That had been quite fun. Like a hunt, a game, and it had kept him entertained at the very least. Yes. That's what he would do. He would follow, and try not to be seen, Hatter decided, a mischievous smirk tugging at the corners of his lips, casting a sidelong glance at the elf, waiting for him to leave.

He did feel a little bad, since the odd being had obviously had his feelings hurt. He didn't like to see people sad. He didn't see what else he had to say to the Hatter, though, so he just looked at him with a slightly sad expression, bowed once more, and headed off out of the restaurant.

He decided that he would, in fact, head off to his room. He'd been experimenting, lately, with having the forest clearing resemble on in Lothlorien, rather than one in the Mirkwood. It was more than just a matter of turning the trees to a lovely gold color. He wanted it to be as authentic as possible.

As he walked through the hallways, he noticed again that a lot of people were acting very strangely. He didn't think it was normal for most people to chase each other around like that, but what did he know about their cultures? He neatly sidestepped the couples as he made his way to the dorm building.

Hatter strode out of the restaurant a few moments after Legolas left, following after him at a leisurely pace. He did his best to go unnoticed, though it was hard for someone as strange looking as him. Thankfully, most seemed more interested in their own pairings to noticed the Hatter practically stalking Legolas. Not that it really made much of a difference. Once the blond went into his room the Hatter would have no place left to go. He stood just outside the dorm building once his target disappeared inside, peering in curiously until he couldn't see the elf any more, at which point he stood there awkwardly, not quite sure what to do with himself.

He was started to suspect something was off about the time that he got to his dorm room. Was someone following him? Frowning just a little, he turned over his shoulder, and his sharp eyes easily picked out the figure of the Hatter. His frown turned to a smile and he laughed a little. The man surely was persistant, wasn't he?

But he didn't have any more patience for trying to figure his strange customs out. So he just slipped into the dorm building, and quickly found his room. Once inside, he knew, the human wouldn't be able to bother him without his consent. He made his way there quickly, and shut the door behind him.

The way his day was going, he decided, he would likely stay here for the rest of the day, and see how things were tomorrow.
