Day Seven
WHO: Legolas and Hatter
WHAT: *bad Elton John impression* Caaaaan you feeeel the looooove toooonight... or, you know, this afternoon. Whatever.
WHEN: Day Seven, early afternoon
WHERE: In the edges of the nearby forest, to start
WARNINGS: PG-13 at most
STATUS: Complete

It was a lovely morning, Legolas thought as he rose in the pre-dawn light. He showered under his waterfall, got dressed, and headed out to watch the sunrise. He stepped out into the morning air, and his nose wrinkled up. It smelled... strange. He had brief, momentary longings for something, but shrugged it off fairly quickly. The smell wasn't that bad, actually. He got used to it quickly, and unaware of how close he had come to being affected by the strange chemicals in the air, he watched the sun rise.

Then, of course, it was off to breakfast. People were acting oddly, he noticed, as they started showing themselves. Humans definately did not rise as early as most elves do. Still, it was none of his concern, neither their rising time nor how they were acting. Anyways, humans always acted oddly. So he quickly ate his breakfast, trying to ignore the weirdness going on around him. Was it human mating time, he wondered idly to himself? Were the humans here that much like animals? This was not how things are done on Middle Earth, even among the humans. Or, at least, he didn't think so. He'd kept himself largely away from the short-lived race.

Eventually, things got strange enough that he decided he wanted away from it. People kept knocking into him, chasing each other around. It was very annoying. Slipping out into the cool morning, he walked quickly away from the ranch, towards the only place he could ever feel at home in this strange place. The forest. Gratefully, he slipped between the trees, and just wandered for several hours.

Time passed, and soon he was hungry for lunch. He slipped out of the depths of the forest, and towards the edge. As he moved closer, he saw a figure moving just at the outskirts. At first, remembering the odd way people had been acting, he was on edge. But this person was, thankfully, alone. He kept a wary eye out, but otherwise, just continued about his business.

"He should just go retrieve her then." Hatter stated, it was the most obvious thing in the world to him, but then as far as he knew Valinor was just another land to come and go from.

"Beastly creature." Hatter nodded slightly, more then willing to recite the poem for Legolas. It wasn't a song exactly, but he spoke in a sing-song voice, a cheerful tune even if the lyrics didn't exactly match. Though, the words made little sense most of the time anyways, and the planet couldn't really offer translation for the nonsense words.

"The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!He left it dead, and with its head he went galumphing back." Brandishing his spork again, the Hatter grinned and pretended to slay the creature as he finished the rest of the poem, sitting down once he was done and their food came.

"No, you see, Valinor is a place that there is no return from. Anyways, she was never the same after being wounded by the orcs. She would have died if she'd stayed on Middle Earth."

He tilted his head to the side, long hair touching his shoulder and chest, and listened. Not only did he love telling stories and singing songs, he loved hearing them, probably just as much. This one, however, had his brows furrowed in confusion. Most of the time, he could understand the words people were saying, but this one made no sense. However, he believed he got the gist of it.

"So this... Jabberwocky has been slain, then? Glad I am to hear it. It sounds like a most ferocious beast."

He smiled when the food came and immediately picked up a honey cake. It had been a long morning, and he was quite hungry. In between bites, he spoke again.

"I sense you are not from the world I am. Tell me of the place you came from?"

"Oh yes. It was killed by Alice ages ago." That really wasn't saying much honestly. Most of them had been killed during Alice's last visit, and simply revived once the Queen of Hearts was defeated. He'd never been all that concerned anyways, the Jabberwocky never bothered with him or the March Hare.

He turned to his stew, having just ordered that, no specific kind. It looked like a simple beef stew though; meat, potatoes, and bit of veg. Still, he didn't object, it was pretty good.

"Wonderland." Hatter answered. "Sometimes it's nice. It changes now and then. What world are you from?"

"Wonderland...."

He smiled, delighted by the name. A place like that must be, well, wonderful! Though some of the things the Hatter had said made him wonder. You couldn't ever really be fully sure of anything, especially not based simply on a name.

"I hail from Mirkwood, a large wood that is located in Middle Earth. It is full of great beauty, and great evil. I... miss it, sometimes. I wonder how my friends fare in the war against that same evil that would destroy everything."

He decided that wasn't very cheerful, and smiled as he changed the subject.

"Tell me, then, do you like this place we have been brought to?"

"Mirkwood." He repeated the same way Legolas had restated the name of his home. "Our war ended with the death of the Queen of Hearts. No doubt it will start again when she is revived though." Hatter didn't seem to concerned. Wonderland had to have a Red Queen, it thrived in madness and chaos. By its very nature it was not a peaceful place, how could it be when all the inhabitants were crazy?

"Well enough. I've no reason not to, and no one wishes to behead me here." Hatter grinned and speared a potato, finishing the bite.

"What are those?" He pointed to the arrows and longbow, not bothering to ask if the other liked this place in return. He'd tired of the subject. As for the weapons. He knew what they were, but decided he'd like to ask anyways as he liked the look of them.

"Yes, Mirkwood."

He finished off his honeycakes and took a sip of some sweet elven wine, strong enough to knock a human, even a very tough one, off their feet. He had no problem drinking it, of course. Elves are much more resistant to that sort of thing.

"Glad I am that no one wishes to behead you. That sounds distinctly unpleasant."

At the human's question, Legolas suddenly stood, readied his bow, and fired an arrow off in one smooth motion. Just into the wall, not near anyone, but he wanted to demonstrate what it was rather than talk about it.

"It is. Terribly messy." He commented lightly. "The queen often forgets though. She condemns many to beheading."

Hatter watched the smooth movement, rising shortly after to retrieve the arrow with a wide grin. It was rather nice. "Might I keep it?" He asked, sweeping off his hat, and stabbing the arrow through both sides so it looked as if it had been shot through, then placing back atop his head. It was a nice touch, if he did say so himself, and useful as he had no weapons of his own should he be attacked.

He nodded and smiled at the odd man, amused by the way he was now wearing it through his hat. He laughed.

"Now, people may think you have angered me, and I retaliated."

He finished the last of his honey cakes and then stood, stretching.

"It has been most pleasant, but I believe I am done eating. Thank you for your company."

"People think a lot of things. Unfortunately, it is unavoidable."

Hatter caught the blond's hand as he rose and stood as well, wrapping his arms around Legolas. Hugs were as foreign to him as everything else he was feeling when it came to the elf. Butterflies in his stomach, the strange blushing when he's first seen him, the pleasant spark at every even slight touch. He was sure it wasn't right, and was still quite disturbed that anyone could effect him like this. It was bad enough Alice could influence change in him and Wonderland.

If the hug itself wasn't awkward enough, the fact that it lasted a bit longer then normal didn't help matters. He pulled away, hands still resting on the Legolas' arms, still beaming, no explanation to be had.

Legolas was still trying to figure out what the Hatter was talking about when he was attacked with the hug. He had been trying to figure out just what the odd man meant by his comment, but was interupted by the embrace.

Uncertain about if this was some custom from the land where the other man came from, Legolas raised his arms and tentatively hugged the other man back. It seemed to last a long time, but then, he wasn't one to judge the cultures of others in a negative way.

When it was over, he looked into the painted face of the human with curiousity on his fine elven features. An eyebrow was delicately arched, enquiringly.

"Well... it was very nice to meet you, Lord Hatter..."
