Day Seven
WHO: Mamoru and Cheshire Cat
WHAT: Mamoru's arrival, and the love thread

RATING: I'll start with PG-13 and we can go from there :-D
STATUS: Complete



It had been, to say the least, a very memorable day. It wasn't that he was a stranger to being pulled through time and space, it's only that the last time it happened, he was sleeping through the process. Actually, this time, he was pretty sure he was dying. One second he was in Princess Serenity's lap, remembering everything that had gone before. He was a Prince, not simply a university student. His shoulder, which had been injured very badly in the fight with the Dark Kingdom, didn't even really hurt anymore.

As his Princess screamed his name, his real name, Endymion, a black bubble came up from the floor and engulfed him. The minions of the Dark Kingdom, Kunzite and Zoisite, floated above them all, laughing evilly as they abducted the injured, newly-awakened prince. Or, at least, that was the plan. Mamoru struggled to stay conscious as he was pulled from the world he knew to... somewhere else.

He'd been expecting darkness broken by evil, vivid lights in Queen Beryl's lair. What he most definately did not expect was soft, fragrant grass under his fingertips. He was still lying on the ground, but his shoulder was healed, and his Tuxedo Mask outfit had faded back to his normal clothing. Blue eyes opened and he scanned the area before rising carefully to his feet. He wasn't hurt at all, though he could feel an odd sort of tingling in the area that had been hurt. Someone had healed him, obviously. The question was, who?

He didn't have much time to think about it. Ahead of him were some buildings, and he started walking towards them. His nose wrinkled up as he smelled something in the air, but he shrugged it off. It was warm, but not overly so. Comfortable. Besides the fact that he had no idea where he was, it was kind of nice, really. Other than, of course, he'd been torn away from his home, away from the girl who had recently revealed herself as...

Sorrowing, he lowered his head and closed his eyes for just a second. His hands clenched into fists at his side, and he whispered very softly, "I'm sorry, Serenity. I can't protect you from here."

He was completely unaware in his sorrow and grief that he was being approached.

The young prince was sorrowing, and didn't even notice the voice that was spouting what he would have seen as nonsense as it approached him. He wasn't crying, just very sad, and not quite sure where he was. Any second now, a minion of the Dark Kingdom would show up, and then, he was sure, his true torment would begin...

As he was having these cheerful thoughts, suddenly, he heard footfalls approaching him. His head raised, his blue eyes steely as he watched the strange woman approach. She had the most remarkable hair he'd ever seen, except for on the monsters that the Dark Kingdom used.

Sighing, he rose to his feet. There was no time to be sad. If this really was a monster, and he saw no reason to believe she wasn't, he would need to fight. He was definately not going to give into the evil Queen Beryl, not without giving it everything he got to avoid it.

His hand slipped into the inside pocket of his jacket and he took ahold of the rose that he would pull out if he needed to transform to Tuxedo Mask. For now, though, he just watched, waiting to see what the strange looking female would do.

Cheshire paused as the form ahead of her rose to his feet.He certainly wasnt alice, and she doubted alice would bring people along to wonderland.

"Hello!"She said quiet pleasently."You didnt happen to see a silly blonde girl go by did you dear?"She asked


Normally she would have kept walking, not caring if he answered or not, but there was a strange feeling swallowing her.She eyes the strange blackhaired man in front of her warily.

Curiouser and curiouser.

He raised an eyebrow at being called 'dear', which was not something he'd been called since... well... ever! It was definately not something he was even remotely used to, and he wasn't sure he liked it. But that was no reason to be rude.

"I'm sorry, I haven't."

With his typically dry sense of humor, he looked at her and shrugged.

"Actually, I just got here myself. I don't really know where 'here' is. Are you a monster of the Dark Kingdom?"

She was looking at him oddly. Very oddly. It made him nervous. He had asked her a direct response, because he'd noticed that the minions of the Dark Kingdom were usually only too proud to proclaim their alleigance to their queen. It was worth a shot, that a direct question could get a direct response.

"Oh.Pity"She said with a slight frown.Cheshire looked him over slowly, still not quite used to silly humans traipsing about.It was odd.


"Juust got here!How joyious for you then!"She said,if she still had a tail it would be twitching by now. "Dark.. kingdom you say?I dont belive I've heard of such a thing.It sounds quite madding though"She said with a nod. She liked things that were quite maddening.

Cheshire was slowly begining to think that she was not in wonderland, after all alice was the only human who could come and go as she pleased.Silly human child.

"I'm not quite sure where This place is either!"She said happily, turning and heading for the buildings in the distance "But I dont like it one bit.Its one thing to disturb my sleep,Its quite another to take my tree from right out under my feet, dont you agree?"

He had decided that he really did not need to be around this girl. Sure, she was pretty, but that didn't matter as much to him as the fact that she was strange. He was a very serious-minded young man, and she really was nothing close to serious herself. It made him a little nervous. Besides, she was still giving me a very odd look.

"Yeah, wonderful to be here..."

He turned away. She wasn't a monster of the Dark Kingdom, or else she would be attacking him by now. Of course, that didn't mean he took his hand off the rose in his pocket. He played with it as he started walking in a slightly different direction from the strange girl. He'd had quite enough of her.

"Uh huh, I hate it when people steal my tree. Well, I'll be seeing you."

"Isnt it though!"cheshire answered happily.

She decided she didlike this human after all.though she didnt know why, the strange feeling of being swallowed came over her again as she turned, following him in the other direction.

"You have a tree to?"She become quite fascinated by him immeditaely."Their great.Espically for napping."She said with a nod.

She grinned at the mortal with a strange gleam in here eye "Can you stand on your head?"she asked the black haired man quite seriesly.

Clearly, the strange girl was not familiar with the concept of sarcasm. This was going to be a challenge, because at times, it was the only way he actually communicated. But he could give it a try. It was rather like talking to a child, actually, now that he thought about it.

"You know, I didn't really think the Dark Kingdom would be so grassy. The last time I was here, it was more dark and evil looking."

He sighed and turned back around to face the girl. He wasn't rude enough to flat out walk away from her, not quite. And she kept talking to him.

"There aren't many trees in Tokyo, except in the parks, so I can't say I've ever slept in one." The abrupt change in pace had him staggered for a second, but he gathered himself quickly. "When I was a child, I suppose I could."

Cheshires nose wrinkled as he metioned this 'dark kingdom'place once more.having never been anymore but wonderland, had never heard of it.


"Toyoko?"She stuttered,quite confused. "I dont belive I have ever heard of such places"Perhaps she could ask the silly blonde alice child when she found her.Ifshe found her.


She grinned "I could once upon a time, once upon a dream when I had a tail, and fur"She nodded.It seemed like a lifetime ago, but she could have sworn it was only a few moments "the silly blonde human named me.Cheshire cat,kitty cheshire"Her nose wrinkled again"Something like that."she waved her hand dismivvely "What did the silly human name you?"

This woman was making less sense the more time he spent with her. It wasn't something he was really used to. She put even Usagi to shame, just for pure sillyness.

"No, To-Kee-Oh. Like that. Tokyo. It's a city in Japan, one of the largest, and it's my home."

He started walking towards the buildings again, hoping that everyone in this strange place wasn't as odd as this woman was. He would probably go insane if everyone were like her. Of course, that could be the plot of the Dark Kingdom, to drive him mad and then, well, he didn't much want to think about what would happen then.

"I was not named by any silly human. My biological mother named me Darien, and my adopted parents named me Mamoru." Out of long habit, he didn't add the Tuxedo Mask thing, or the new fact that he'd discovered about being Prince Endymion.

"Its sounds dreadful"She said,linking her arm inside his.Being human for the whole of 10 seconds she had no idea of tact or any human emotions really.She did know however that she rather liked this feeling of being swallowed

Her nose crinkled slightly when he informed her that he was indeed notone of alice's pets."Curiouser and curiouser"She muttered aloud, quite content to walk beside him toward the strange looking buildings ahead.

He was a little surprised by her statement, but with his natural stoicism, didn't show it. What sounded dreadful? His hometown? That was a strange thing for someone to say who had apparently never heard of it. But he wasn't going to get into a fight about it, not until she gave him more reasons than just talking.

"Curiouser isn't a word, you know."

He glanced down at her arm which was linked through his, and then looked up at her once more. He had had a really hard day, and his patience was at an end.

"Is there some reason you're holding on to me like this?"

"Oh but of course it is!"She said ,her green eyes sparkling brightly.With a bounce in her step she grinned at the man "Everythings a word when your quite mad you know.Why I was just telling the march hare the other day about.."

She was confused by his question about their linked arms "I like you"She said a nod,as if that should be reason enough.She practilly skipped toward the buildings ahead of them, wondering if alice was loitering in any of them."Horribly dreadful girl"She muttered outloud.

Okay, now he was worried. He didn't have even the slightest bit of interest in being around someone who identified themselves as mad. Especially when it seemed to be a quite accurate designation. He looked down at her, and sighed.

"No, it isn't, not in any language I know of. Making up words doesn't make them words."

He shook his head, deciding this was probably pointless, and kept walking towards the buildings. He was too well-bred to pull his arm away, but might seriously reconsider that in a couple of seconds if she didn't start making more sense.

"You don't even know me, and I am not any sort of girl, let alone a horribly dreadful one."

Cheshires eyebrow quirked together as she gave a very series consideration to his words.This however, lasted only a minute or two "Made up?Who ever said it was made up dear."

She continued towards the building, arm in arm with him,frowning slightly as he continued with his silly human,what had alice called it,log-ic?. "Of course your a not girl,silly human,Alice is though.She's a horribly dreadful silly human.You'd like her."She said with a nod.

The young man simply rolled his eyes and tugged his arm away. Politeness was one thing, but this was just getting silly. There were limits to what one could take.

"Listen, I gotta go. I have to figure out where I am, and I can't be talking about nonsense."

His arm was free now, and he was done. Just plain done with the weirdness.

"Why your in-"Cheshire paused, about to declare that he was in wonderland of course, but From the looks of this place, they were far from wonderland.

"-I dont know actually"She said with a pout and a stamp of her foot.Darn that alice, if cheshire ever got her claws into the blonde haired human it would be the end of her for sure

Thankfully cheshire didnt have to wait long to see what new and strange world she had actually landed in, as she had stopped right in front of the plaque which greeted the newcomers in big bright words,more then cheshire had seen in her short life.

"Thank you, that was very helpful."

It was funny. He kept trying to get away, and somehow, he kept ending up in her presence. It was infuriating, especially since, as far as he could tell, she made as much sense as a toddler on a major sugar high. He sighed and looked down at the plaque. Suddenly, the strange girl was the least of his worries.

"Oh, if this is a joke, Beryl, it's really not funny. Nephrite! Zoisite! Come out and face me! Stop playing with me!"

Instead of his two opponants, however, a man that looked like he was made of clay walked up. As Mamoru watched, the thing expresionlessly handed him a room key. He looked at it blankly.

"I guess... this is the key to the place where... So I really am trapped?"

"Your quite welcome!"she responded happily,quite pleased to help him.

She was still as she read,re-read and absorbed the welcome plaqueas words "Oh how delightful!Another planet!"She squealed at last when her quite mad mind realized that this was indeed notwonderland after all.

Her eyes widened slightly however when the clay golem approached them.With a slight hiss she dove behind darien,eyeing the thing with a scared child like expression.

"Shoo!"She said loudly,making a gesture toward it when it held the keys out to her "Go on shoo!"

He refrained from rolling his eyes at her continuing antics. Barely. But it was a very close thing. Pocketing his key, he turned to the odd, pink-haired woman and spoke very patiently, as he would to a child.

"It wants to give you your room key, you should take it."

He crossed his arms over his chest and watched the strange scenario for a second before turning around. He had a room to find, and he was still so far beyond done with this that it wasn't even funny.

She narrowed her eyes at his words,taking the metal key with a slight hiss at the clay man

"Rocks shouldnt be allowed to walk around.Its not their right"She whispered,following darien with nary a backwards glance at the clay man.


Quickly forgetting all about the golem,and the plaque,she held her metal key up,reading the number off it loudly "Oh I do hope the door leads back to wonderland!It would quite lovely"She gave darien her patened grin "Perhaps you could come along to!Alice could use a new pet"

That actually had him laughing just a little, even as he was shaking his head at her continuing sillyness. He'd seen quite a bit as Tuxedo Mask, so stone things that walked around wasn't so weird. But he would agree with her statement, rocks shouldn't move around.

"A 215..."

He murmured before heading off to find his room. He didn't know where A building was, but figured he could ask someone for advice. The golem, for example. He spoke to it, and it pointed. That was good enough.

"I am not going to any 'Wonderland', thank you, and I am not a pet. Especially not of any girl named Alice. You may simply put that idea right out of your head."

Cat was delighted to hear the mortal laugh, though it was beyond her the reason why, still she quickly joined him in his laugh fest.

Her gaze fell back on her key. "A123"She said with a frown, when the clay..thing,pointed to the very same building, it put a bounce back in her step "Oh this IS delightful is it not?."She cooed.

She paused at the door of the steps,tilting her head as he spoke once more "Oh being a pet is quite delightful.You should ask the white rabbit, He's always one off on grand adventures for the red queen.One of her favorite pets he is"

Mamoru raised an eyebrow as the thing pointed to the same direction for both of them, and sighed deeply, all mirth forgotten. He was starting to think he was pretty much doomed.

"I wonder what else can possibly go wrong?"

It was said in an undertone, muttered under his breath, as he moved off towards the building quickly. His long legs meant he made excellent time, but somehow, he was sure she would find a way to catch up.

"I am not a pet, I'm a person. And I have no interest in being enslaved to this Red Queen or Alice or anyone."

He glanced around and sighed.

"Anyways, I'm pretty sure we can't leave."

"It could be raining"Cheshire responded merrily.

He was fast,but having been a cat for ever(or was that never?)she was graceful as could be,making her way to the grumpy humans side in no time at all

"If this was wonderland,I could simply go through any door and be anywhere else."She said giddily "Perhaps one of those..things, should be told about this."She paused "No one likes the red queen,she always wants to behead someone"

"I suppose there's always that."

He found the 'A' dormitory with little difficulty, and figured that his room must be on the second floor, since it started with a 2. He started looking around for stairs.

"This is not wonderland, so I don't think it works that way. Anyways, I don't think the rock men talk." Or if they could, they hadn't bothered yet. "Why are you following me?"

Cat's eyes glowed a strange kind of green as she skimmed the numbers of the doors, pausing at her own before continuing to follow darien.

"Good,rocks are standing on,and perhaps to nap under, not for speaking to and walking about"She said a bit grumply and stamped her foot like a child who did get her way.

She gflashed him a happy-go-lucky smile "Silly forgetfull human,I told you.I like you"

It was a good thing Mamoru hadn't seen the strange glow in her eyes, he would have transformed into Tuxedo Mask right then and there, convinced she was a monster. But he didn't see it, and he sighed as she followed him. He'd pretty much expected her to do just that, but still.

"Why do you like me? I've been trying to get away from you this whole time, and I'm being rude. Why would you like me?"

When he was annoyed, he could be very blunt. This was one of those times. Strange new world, startling revelations, and now an irritating companion who seemed to be attached to his hip.

Cheshire frowned at his question.She had been asked many things in her short life,mostly by alice,and mostly hows and whensbut never why.It confused her.

"I..dont know..You amuse me"She finally reasoned.It was,perhaps,the saneist thing she had said so far.

"What is 'rude'?"she asked.

"Glad to be amusing, then."

Dry irony dripped off his voice as he reached his room. Since she was unlikely to be hurt by honesty, he decided not to try and be tactful.

"I'm going to go inside my room now. This has been one of the strangest experiences of my life, and that's saying something. Go bother someone else, alright?"

Short, rude, and to the point. Even worse than the way he'd treated Usagi right in the very beginning, when it came right down to it.

Sighing,cheshire stamped her foot and journyed back down the hallway to her room,pleased to find that looked exactly like wonderland,though her tree had been replaced with a bed. "I hope His door leds him to the red queen"She pouted to herself.

The room was sensible, plain, a lot like his small apartment in Tokyo. That was a relief, he didn't think he could bear to find himself in another strange place.

Sighing in relief that he'd been freed from the strange, pink-haired woman, he flopped down on the bed. A nap might be in order, he thought, and then he would see about looking around.
