The virgin and the Slayer
Who: Marcus and Faith
What: Love is in the air
When: 10:07 am
Where: The meadow, near the forest
Rating: PG, but probably going to be PG-13 for sexual themes
Status: Complete

Marcus had just had breakfast, and had decided to attempt a simple walk. Not an intrepid exploration, not a desperate search for escape, just a regular after-breakfast walk. It was a beautiful day, but there was something funny in the air. It was like an odor, but he was having trouble smelling it. It was more like there was a sensible feeling, or external mood around him. He imagined it was seeping into him, but the whole thing gave him the sunny summer willies. He hoped he wasn't the only one feeling this, otherwise he would have to be disappointed in himself for how little time it had taken for his mind to go. Despite his ambivalence about the planet's kindness, he didn't believe it was about to let any of them get sick and die. Oh well. He'd keep his eyes open and see what happened. Nothing else to be done, really.

Clearly, this girl was not taking no for an answer. Either she was trying to joke with him, or she meant what she said. Either way she had just gone too far. Marcus stopped trying to walk away and stared at her.

"Excuse me? No offense, but why would I do that with you? I mean you're very pretty and everything, but I don't think you're my type. A little too forward, understand? Now, I'm going to have to ask you to let go of me. Otherwise, I'm going to have to make you let go."

He looked down at her with his most intimidating Ranger stare. He was fairly certain talking would not be enough to discourage her, but he had to try every other avenue before he used force.

She smiled up at him, glad that he was no longer trying to leave her, and rested her free hand at the back of his neck. She raised herself onto her tiptoes and pressed her lips against his, murmuring softly,

"Shy, huh? Don't worry, I can lead you through it, no problem. Anyways, I... I think I..."

She shook her head a little, and then laughed softly. The pheremones had effected her enough that she didn't even want to run screaming from the words she was about to say.

"Huh. Trippy. I love you, isn't that weird?"

Though he really ought not to have been, Marcus was caught by surprise by the kiss. Maybe it was because he hadn't done anything to invite it, and the thought of someone kissing him when he was doing his best to look unwilling shocked him, or maybe it was the fact that it had been forever and a day since anyone else's lips had touched his, but for whatever reason, he reacted more strongly than he had planned to Faith's advances. Dropping suddenly to his knee as the girl stood confused for a moment by her newfound feelings, he twisted away from the girl as she leaned on him and attempted to use the momentum of his motion to throw her over him, and hopefully some distance away from him.

"Very weird, and very doomed, I'm afraid."

She went, though it was a plan that she should have seen right through. She wasn't the slayer for nothing, and this was just a man, after all, not a vampire. But he caught her by surprise, and she flew through the air, smashing into a tree fairly hard. It didn't take long for her to leap to her feet once more, and advance on him, eyes narrowed.

"Fine. You're a challenge. That's cool. I'm willing to fight for you, Marcus. I love you."

She could feel her lips still tingle from where they had made ever-so-brief contact with Marcus' and she ached for that moment again with every fiber of her being.

"You already said I'm pretty, so why wouldn't you want me? Anyways, I'm gonna make you love me back."

Now he knew she was crazy. It was one thing to develop a crush on him, to approach him assertively, and to try to kiss him, but to be willing to fight him about it? Something was wrong with this girl. Marcus felt a twinge of guilt as she slammed hard into the tree, but she was up so quickly that Marcus knew he had been correct. She was not only stronger, but also more durable than a regular person. This was going to be an interesting fight.

"Faith, I'm sorry, but I don't love you. There's no point in fighting me. You can't make me love you."

As she advanced on him, he reached into his pocket and drew his Minbari fighting pike. She could clearly take a hit, and he sensed that he was going to have to deliver some of them. Dropping into a familiar fighting stance, he was glad for his Ranger training in hand-to-hand combat, though he had never imagined he would be using it to repel unwanted lovers!

Faith laughed, delighted with this chance to prove her love for him. Of course, it had been a long time since she could be considered sane, but this was a new level even for her. Normally, she had far too much liking for herself to think she needed to force herself on anyone. This was obviously different.

"Okay, you wanna do it this way, I can do that."

She linked her fingers together and pushed her arms out, stretching until her knuckles cracked. Then, she shrugged her shoulders, got them all loose and ready. Just when it seemed that she would be preparing forever, a sort of manic light came into her dark eyes and she charged at him, drawing her sword off her back as she went.

She held it expertly, and decided she'd go for his legs. That way, she wouldn't actually kill him, just disable him enough so that she could show him how much she loved him. It didn't make a lot of sense, but in her mind, that didn't matter.

"It's cool, you will love me."

She aimed a brutal strike at his knees with the flat of her blade, more to disable him than anything else. Love for him, and of course, for fighting, shone brightly in her eyes.

Marcus's eyes widened dramatically as the previously overlooked accessory was drawn. Where on Minbar had she gotten a sword?!? As Faith swiftly swung at his legs, is was all the stunned Ranger could do to get his pike down to block her stroke. His arms vibrated from the strength of the blow, and he realized that she was putting all her strength into her swing.

"What on Earth is that for? I thought you were trying to love me, not maim me!"

Planting the parrying end of his pike in the ground, he thrust the other end forward, then jabbed it upward in an effort to catch the Slayer in the solar plexus. That fact that no one on Mirage was allowed to kill anyone else was of little comfort to Marcus, since he had had no similar reassurance that they would not be permitted to severely disable someone.

"No, I will not love you! Especially not if you act like that!"

She parried the attempted blow to her chest and while he was distracted with her sword, she darted forward and kissed him once more, this time harder. Eyes wide and very insane, she laughed and attacked again, sword flailing in a seemingly random manner, but very effective at the same time. This time, she ran around behind him to attack his back.

"I'll love you even if you're hurt... don't worry, I'll take care of you after I make you bleed..."

She gasped in hurt, her face taking on a incredibly distressed look for just a second before she swung her sword at his lower back.

"Why won't you love me? Why? I'm pretty and strong and really, really good in bed! I can prove it!"

Good Lord, she was fast! Marcus fell forward, staggered, to the ground as the flat of Faith's blade struck him in the small of the back. He got up instantly, and swung his pike around, hoping to sweep her off her feet unexpectedly. He lips tingled where she had briefly kissed him again. How had she got inside his defenses long enough to do that?

"Do you know how crazy you sound? Would you really make me bleed just so you could take care of me? I can see that you are pretty, I can tell that you are strong, and I am happy to take your word for it that you are good in bed, but I can't force myself to love someone. Not only are you crazy, but I just met you!"

She was too fast, and too agile, to fall for that. The pike swept at her feet, and with a sort of graceful ease, she jumped up and over it at the last second, landing back on her feet. She turned her sword around so the sharp edge showed, and went for his neck. Of course, she didn't put her full strength behind the blow, she didn't want to behead him. She just wanted him to realize that he couldn't beat her, and give up. Somehow, she thought that if he did that, then he would love her. She would only mark him a little, she decided. Enough so that he would bleed.

"Crazy is just a viewpoint. I get what I want, Marcus. I want you. Deal with it." She laughed as her sword flashed in towards his neck. "You can love me, and you will. Love and sex both don't mind how long you've known someone."

Of course, that was sort of her standard MO when it came to sex, so it made sense that it would apply to love, as well. Or at least as much sense as anything that she ever thought made.

Marcus had barely turned around when Faith trained her sword on his neck, and he wasn't able to move out of the way of the blade without sustaining a razor-thin cut along the side. He was starting to lose response time, he could tell, but the Slayer just kept coming. Though it bothered him to admit it, he realized she was just faster, stronger, and a better fighter than him. He couldn't win.

"You want me? And how's that? Dead?"

Quickly his mind turned over his possible options. He could let her win, and suffer God knows what sexual and physical abuse, he could attempt to run, or he could kill himself right now and get it over with. Given those choices, he decided he would be best trying to run. In between ducking and dodging, he looked around for the most likely safe-haven.

As his head whipped around, she suddenly faltered for just a second. A dream she'd had came into her mind, and when she had dreams, it was best to pay attention. She frowned. Long, dark hair, English accent... maybe...

"Hey! Marcus! Do you like to teach people crap? You know, about the supernatural and shit like that?"

Her eyes narrowed as she circled around him, but she was a little off her game now. She wanted an answer to her question. Maybe he was the one.

Marcus, who had been seriously considering a dash for the forest, turned and stared at Faith again, completely surprised by her question.

"Do I what? Like to teach about supernatural 'crap'? What an odd thing to ask, and no, not particularly. I'm more of a doer than a teacher, really."

Barely parrying another stiff sword-stroke with his fighting pike, he wondered if he wouldn't get more assistance if he headed for the ranch. It was farther, though...

Oh, damn it. Not a teacher. He wouldn't work at all, then. Too bad, she'd been hoping she'd found who she was looking for. Still, no big deal. She quickly rallied. After all, she still loved him, despite the fact that he wasn't the one to fill the role she needed filled, according to her dream.

"Alright! So, back to making you love me, then!"

It wouldn't take her long to get back into the swing of things. Already her grip, which had loosened on her sword, was firming up again. She was preparing to attack once again, and she could tell her desired lover was tiring.

As Faith began to firm up her resolve once more, Marcus decided that now was the time to make his break for it. Instantaneously contracting his pike, he turned abruptly and bolted for the compound, using every ounce of his breakfast calories to pitch himself toward the doors. He knew the smaller woman was also faster than him, and he prayed his headstart would be enough to save him. Where the hell was he going to hide when he got there? He didn't know, but at least he'd have options. He put his head down and ran.

He never would have made it two steps if she wasn't still caught up in memories of her dream. It had distracted her just barely enough that she had let him slip away. By the time she realized his intention, he was gone, and she was left alone.

Of course, she wasn't going to put up with that. She was off behind him as quickly as she could. But it was too late. He made his way to a more crowded area, and she couldn't quite make him out from the other people.

She crossed her arms over her chest and scowled, but then a grin came to her full lips. Was she the slayer or wasn't she? She was really good at hunting things, and she would find him again. She was sure of it.
