Day 5
Who: Rusty Ryan and Katara.
What: Rusty Arrives!
Where: The Game Room inside the Resort.
When: Day 5; Evening, Past 8 o'clock.
Rating: PG-13, Subject to Change.
Status: Complete

For just an hour.. it certainly felt like entire day waiting on that airplane. You would find a nicely dressed blonde sitting anxiously in his first class seat..Creamed colored suit with a white button up dress shirt underneath.. He looked as if he was just leaving a business trip. And he sort of did. Rusty Ryan just left the Las Vegas Airport and was heading back home to Los Angeles. Bronze tinted sunglasses partially concealed his natural blue eyes. The fingers of his right hand would fondle with a an empty champaigne class.. It would have been nice if the so called flight attendant made an appearance this century but what can you do with Flight Service now a days? His face was calm.. but those eyes bugged out.. it was obvious that he was getting impatient.. He then set his glass down.. and reached for his miniature bag of peanuts.. slowly pulling apart the bag.. then knocking the entire contents right into his mouth.. munching away on the nuts..

Suddenly.. he felt the plane start to shake.. a bit of a turbulance wasn't really anything to be paranoid about.. But when he started to notice.. the passenger in front of him vanishing before his eyes.. he looked back at the bag of peanuts to question what was really in those nuts. A worried look with a sudden bad taste in his mouth.. he quickly went to grab a bottle of water to wash away whatever possibly drugged him! BUT when he went to grab his water, that too was gone. And more passengers started to disappear quicker and faster! Until.. the plane itself disappeared.. and he was left in the air.. with his carry-on.

"Oh. My. God."

His eyes shifted towards his carry on bag.. quickly he snatched it from the air and held it close to him before he allowed himself to free fall! His carry-on contained about third of a million dollars in cash. He was not about to let that thing disappear with the rest! Just when Rusty thought his life was at it's end.. he felt himself stop in thin air.. not only that.. but he found himself in a completely different place. Noise of chaos started to echoe in his ears.. Slot machines going off.. and other sorts of noises a Game room would contain.. Did he just hear bowling pins fall? Rusty stood still frozen by what just had happend.. He brought that strap of his carry on over his shoulder.. a hand went over the same shoulder.. and he pinched the very flesh of his bicep to wake himself up if he was in some sort of dream.. Or what if he died? He truly didn't know.. The environment was very surprisingly suiting for the man.. that's what spooked him the most.

He started to walk among the game room.. noticing a few people playing their games on the slot machines and arcade games.. his eyebrows were raising up as high as it could go.. and that shocking expression seized to stay on him.. Rusty was just so tripped out by the whole situation he was too caught up in his mind to even think about speaking to the gamers.. raising those sunglasses that managed to stay over his eyes and resting them over his head.. And as calmly as any shocked person could be,

"What in God's name were in those peanuts."

Katara awoke at a early in the morning and went about her daily business of washing, dressing, and eating. Then she spent a couple hours exploring the outside area of the resort. She found the horses, though she had no idea what they were. They reminded her a bit of the buffalo yaks she’d seen at the North Pole, but they weren’t quite the same. When she asked a wooden golem what they were, it pointed toward a sign that had “HORSES” clearly etched into wood and nailed to a stable wall. She wanted to ride them, but figured she should wait until another time.

After she finished exploring the area she decided to practice her waterbending for a couple of hours. Just because she might not need it here didn’t mean she should allow herself to get rusty. She actually didn’t know when she might need it. If the Planet ever decided to send her back home- or if she found a way home- she would need it that much more.

At last she decided to leave the heat of the day and eat something- an early dinner of sorts. Ordering sea crabs, she ate it with vigor. She was no longer testing the kitchens, for she knew they had virtually everything, the waterbender simply wanted a taste of home for the first few days she was here. Eventually she would order other foods, but right now this was nice for her.

Having enjoyed the experience of bowling two days earlier, Katara wanted to examine the rest of the games she’d seen in previous explorations. She had seen a number of strange things through the room when she bowled, but nothing she recognized.

Initially, she was drawn to the arcade games. The moving pictures with sound baffled her. The screen in the bowling alley had moving pictures that informed the players what the goal of the game had been. On these screens it showed clips from the game until a button was pressed. Then it proceeded to show instructions on it’s usage. For the moment she was a bit too perplexed about the workings of the machine to want to touch it, so she moved on.

Katara found the slot machines and couldn’t resist the temptation to pull the lever on one. Just as she did, a flicker of movement startled her, and she whipped around to face it as she simultaneously removed the cap on her water skin. What she saw wasn’t anything to be defensive over but a man who looked awfully shocked and confused. That was exactly how she had probably looked when she first arrived. The waterbender had never seen a new arrival before, and she thought it would be a good idea to show him what he needed to see so he could better understand his situation.

Keeping one hand steady on the tip of the water skin at her hip, Katara approached the stranger cautiously. She heard him speak and cocked her head to one side. “Hello.” She said softly, hoping not to spook the man.

It was amazing how anyone could even listen throughout the crazy noises going from different directions.. but the blonde con-man did recall a 'Hello' coming his way. Those blue eyes shifted still in a bit of a shock towards a young woman. She appeared normal enough. His mouth remained dropped for a moment or so.. until he got sound out of it.

"Hi." Rusty simply said.. then his mouth relaxed more into a light smile.

He raised mouth hands and rubbed his eyes a little bit to get clearer picture of where he was at. Assuming he may have accidentily stumbled back in Vegas somehow. Nope. Never seen this place before in his life. He even hoped to find Danny or Linus strolling about; but that also seized to fail..

"You mind telling me; Where I am... Miss?"

He said still a little out of it.. Running the whole airplane vanishing mishap in his head over and over trying to recall any sort of possible explanation. Maybe the Night Fox seeked revenge that he overlooked and drugged his champaigne and peanuts. Nah that is not even near the Fox's style. But what about Bank? He did just knock over his high-class casino... If the owner was true to his word.. He may have known men who "really know how to hurt". All of those could have been possible explanations.. but he would doubt it completely if Bank could perform a disappearing act with a plane. A mile high up.

Katara’s fingers tensed a little around the opening of her water skin when his gaze shifted to her. She had no way of knowing just how dangerous this man could be while in a state of shock like this. However, when he spoke and relaxed and allowed a smile to twitch the corners of his lips upward, Katara also relaxed and put the cap back onto her water skin.

She nodded when he inquired about his location. “You’re in the game room of the Mirage.” Her fingers moved to rub the back of her neck for a moment. This was going to be harder than she initially thought. She only hoped he wouldn’t do something irrational when she showed him the tablet. “There’s something you need to see. It will explain things a lot better than I can. After you read it, we’ll find your key, and I’ll show you your room. I’ll try to answer any questions you might have, but I’ve only been here for a few days, so I may not have all the answers you need.”

Katara motioned for the man to come with her, making sure not to turn her back on him. Instead she walked beside him. As they moved toward their destination, the waterbender realized she had forgotten something. Her eyes lifted toward the man, and she said quickly, “Oh! I’m so sorry. I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Katara.”

Once the tablet was in sight, the Water Tribe femme motioned toward it. “You need to read that.” She stood a little to the left and behind him as he read, not wishing to intrude if he preferred solitude when dealing with these things. If he did need it, though, she would comfort him. It was in her nature to do so.

When she said the Mirage.. He instantly assumed that she was speaking of the Casino "The Mirage" in Las Vegas. How he felt his drugging theories were becoming more true and true. What he was not aware of is that she meant that was the name of the resort was called on a completely different planet.

"The Mirage you say? Well I have been to the Mirage; and I can honestly say in confidence that this is not the Mirage. One question; we're still in Vegas right?"

He paused for a moment to allow the woman to continue to speak.. Something he needed to see. Well this should be something. Rusty is under the impression that he may have gotten kidnapped perhaps. Maybe he was in some sort of dream world that was extracted from whatever drugged his food. He also didn't know this woman.. so he kept his words to a minimum.. He also wasn't one to even judge or quickly jump into a conclusion..

"My room.. Am I up for an extended Vacation? Now who could be that generous.." He said with a touch of sarcasm.. It had to be Bank's doing... If it was Bank's doing.. getting out of this situation could be as easy as getting into it. But she continued to say that whatever he had to read will explain everything. How the anticipation to see if all his theories were true was just too hard to contain..

"Show me the way, Katara. And you can call me Rusty." There was something about the way she looked that reminded him of his former girlfriend, Isabel. So speaking to her felt a bit easier.. Must be the hair.. Oh definitely.. The brunette wavy lockes.. Definitely brought him back. He placed a hand in his suit pocket while the other one carried his bag of wealth.. and walked with her into what he would assume the Lobby or main room would become.. And like she said there was a tablet or plaque of some kinda mounted on the wall..

Rusty raised a brow or two.. Now he was really expecting a note on paper.. but this was something else. He approached it and started to read it.

"Welcome to Mirage.
This is your new home.
Your every need will be fulfilled.
You will have a place to live.
You will have food and clothing.
You will have entertainment.
You will have company.
You will not be able to leave.
You will not kill. Ever.
If you have questions, ask my assistants.
Love,
The Planet"

His reaction wasn't something that anyone could expect.. but he started to burst out a chuckle.. and a light laughter.. Leaning an arm up on that very wall..

"This is a joke, right?" Rusty quickly looked around in search for any of his partners in crime... None were in sight.. assuming maybe they were in disguise.. He walked back over to Katara.. "Did Danny put you up to this? Or Linus.."

Oh how he was so very wrong..

Katara’s sapphire eyes widened slightly as he admitted he had been here before, but, before she could ask how he had left in the first place, he told her that this place wasn’t the Mirage. It must mean that he had been in another such place called Mirage. That strong hope that had surged through her when he spoke had been pulverized just as swiftly. “Vegas?” She asked, keeping the sadness out of her voice completely. “I’ve never heard of Vegas before. I don’t think this is it, though.” If he knew of a place called Vegas it probably wasn’t here. Everything he knew had been left behind, just like what had happened to her.

The waterbender felt a pang of pity for this new arrival, as he asked if he was going to have an extended vacation. Katara inhaled a quick breath of air and kept her gaze away from his, her brows creasing together. “You could call it that.”

When they made it to the tablet, she awaited anxiously for him to read it. She thought she had been prepared to comfort a man who would be very downtrodden to learn that he could never return to his home. The young woman was unprepared to face his laughter. She took a step closer, lifting her hand as if to touch his arm again, but she dropped it again as he looked around the area.

“A joke? I don’t know anyone by the names of Danny or Linus. I don’t think this is a joke. We’re not the only ones stuck here. So far I’ve met some others, but I know there are more. None of us are from the same place as far as I know. Some are from the same world, though. Most seem to be from a place called Earth, but I’ve never heard of it.” Katara moved closer to Rusty, and this time she did place her arm on his shoulder. “I’m so sorry.”

Stepping away from him, her eyes moved around the lobby. “We should find your key. It’s probably in the lobby.” Leaving the courtyard, expecting him to follow, she entered through double doors. Sure enough, once her gaze swept over the room, a blinking light caught her eye. Beneath the light was a shiny new key. Because no other keys were in sight, Katara figured that this had to be his. The waterbender lifted it from it’s position and handed it to Rusty after glimpsing the number engraved in it- F110. “Your building is near mine. Before I show you your room you need to know something else. It may be a bit of a shock- I know it was for me- but the rooms transform into whatever you want them to look like. Mine looks like one of the tents from the village where I grew up.”

Turning to leave the main building, she offered to lead him once more to his lodgings.

He stared at her with a complete look of shock.. She never heard of Las Vegas? Now this was something else... Rusty was throwing possible explanations.. for him being here.. and dodged the one he feared most.. What if he actually did disappear? What if he actually teleported to a completely different place? Not only that but a place far from Home.. earth even. He continued to listen to her speak.. as he did he started to pace back in forth, inside he was screaming and just cursing up a storm; but on the outside he was more calm then your average person.. Rusty hated to make a scene.. especially when it's unintentional.

"So. You're saying we're not on Earth." Oh that sounded incredibly ridiculous.. and he refused to give in an believe it.. "And what planet are you from, Katara?" He then decided to play along.. after all there was nothing else he could do.

He followed her to go grab his key to his room.. "Wow. It almost seems like I was expected to be here." Rusty kindly took the key..

"Transforming rooms.. Now that right there is something takes seeing to believe. If my room looks like Terry Benedict's Penthouse Suite at the Bellagio then I'll start believeing you, Kat."

He pulled out his cellphone as they were walking towards his room.. As he flipped it open and the lit up screen said "Out of Range." Now that has never happend to him before. The twilight zone's theme music started to echo inside his mind.. and he gave a light swallow yet still making a sound of a gulp that expressed a sign of nervousness.. He's stuck. And he knows he can't get out of this one, and he knows that there is no amount of American Dollars that will pay his way out either.

"You said.. this happend to you too?"

Katara ignored the man’s look of shock when she told him she’d never heard of Vegas. It was probably like the Omashu or Ba Sing Se of his world. If she told him those names he wouldn’t have the slightest idea about what she was talking. No doubt he’d give her the same incredulous look he gave her now.

“No, we’re not on Earth. Until I came here I didn’t know there were other planets except the one that I lived on. There wasn’t a name for my planet. It was just… the world.” She shrugged her shoulders. The waterbender wasn’t deaf to the disbelief intoned in his voice, but she didn’t pay it any mind. He would get used to this sooner or later- though most likely later.

When he took his key, Katara only shook her head. “Of course you were expected. The Planet brought you here, so obviously there’s going to be a key waiting for you.” She said this all very kindly. After all, he had only just arrived, and it must be hard on him.

“It’s Katara,” She said, unable to keep the irritation from her voice. “and you’ll see.” His pompous attitude was beginning to get to her in bad way. However, the irritation fled from her face when she saw what he had in his hand. A pang was felt in her gut as she saw the glow of the screen of the object in his hand. It made her think of Aang, how his eyes and tattoos would glow whenever he went into the Spirit World… or the Avatar State. Oh, Aang… What is going on where you are? Katara thought to herself.

When she looked up at Rusty’s face she realized the reality of what happened to him was finally beginning to sink into him. “Yes. It happened to everyone here, except the golems. You’ll see them eventually, I’m sure. It’s hard, but it will be okay.” She led him into building F and walked a little further, scanning the door numbers until she spotted his.

“This is your room.” Katara spoke softly as she stopped just to the side of his door. She had yet to see what anyone else did with their rooms, and she kind of wanted to see what this man would do with his. “If you want, I could show you some of the other places in the Mirage, but, if you want to stay in your room, I’ll understand.”

"The world, huh? And I apologize, Katara." Rusty said with the very same tone she has given him.. He then realized... that she is saying that she was not from Earth.. Surely would explain why she hasn't heard of Vegas. It also made her what the human beings on earth would call, Aliens. Rusty lightly smiled looking at her.. how very normal she appeared for being someone not from Earth.. But then again.. why should anything from Earth be called normal anyway?

"Golems. I'm sure I will.." His eyes looked around.. maybe he might see one as they were walking.. "So you were taken from your 'world' as well? How do you feel about.. all this?" Rusty was curious about the girl.. if he was going to be staying here for remainder of his life, he might as well adjust, adapt, and make friends. And if he know how she adapted, maybe he can take on her advice.

Once they approached their room.. he stared at the door for a minute.. then slipped the key into it's slot.. and unlocked the door. He pushed it open to find what he was hoping for.. A luxurious Penthouse Suite.. to the right was a kingsized bed with white egyptian cotton sheets. And the left of the room was a miniature bar. Something Terry failed to put into his hotels; and now he has one. Not to mention a window and Verandah with an extraordinary view.. The view itself was something only the eyes could see and nothing no words could describe.. Something he has never ever witnessed on the Planet Earth.. Which left him in a moment of awe..

"Well-- I believe you now." He said bluntly. Then looked back towards her.. "S-surely, I could use a tour.. but before we go anywhere; I'm gonna have to Thank You." She certainly did help him out.. and was very grateful that she trusted him enough as well. He may be a professional theif and con-man.. but He has never ever intentionally robbed out of cruelty.. or stolen from a good person. And he could tell her what he does for a living.. but he'll give it time. He still didn't know her fully yet himself.

Katara only smiled and said, “Thank you.” When he apologized, pointedly ignoring his mocking tone. She continued walking.

“Well,” The waterbender began in response to his question, “I don’t like it at all. I mean, everything here comes very easily, and it’s all very nice, but this isn’t my home. I’m going to find a way back eventually.” When she said she was going to find a way home, her tone was such that it left no room for argument. Of course, she was absolutely determined to find a way off this rock that called itself the Planet. “If there was a way here, there has to be a way back.”

When they arrived at his room and he opened the door, her brows rose. It was like nothing she would have chosen for herself. It was okay, but it lacked the coziness of her own. She thought it suited Rusty very well, though. The view from his window was much like the view from her own. Extraordinarily beautiful and awe inspiring. It would never get old. Even if she loathed the very core of this Planet for brining her here, she had to admit it knew it’s aesthetics.

Silvery-sapphire optics lifted to the man as he spoke and turned to her. She relaxed visibly when he thanked her. Katara felt he had been rude to her from nearly the moment they met, but this small touch of courtesy was more than welcome. She nodded her head. “You’re welcome. Are you hungry? I could show you the kitchens and the restaurant first.” He had said something about peanuts when he first arrived, she recalled. “There’s also a fantastic library, and you’ve seen the game room. Oh! There are also computers and a coffee bar that serves magnificent tea. Outside there are horses and a lake and mountains.” She stopped talking, waiting for his decision. The Water Tribe femme hoped she hadn’t dumped too much on him in one breath. Perhaps she should take it one step at a time.

Rusty listened to her.. and admired how she knew there will be a way back from wherever they were. Hope is all we could ever need in a situation such as this.

"Yeah.. I mean there has to be some way out.. Just time will tell right?"

Rusty then heard her ask if he was hungry.. His smile grew a little bigger and he nodded.. "Let's say we get some food, then we'll go on from there." Letting out a light chuckle..Wow she named off various different things they could do here.. He certainly won't get bored here, that is for sure. Rusty then walked over towards his closet and opened it to find various clothes he would wear.. he only wanted to rest his carry-on bag inside before he left his room with Katara.

Katara smiled at Rusty. “Does that mean you’ll be wanting to find a way home, too?” It might be nice to have a partner in escape. Actually, as she saw it the more the merrier. If the majority of the people here could band together in an organized fashion, there could definitely be a way out. Just then she noticed he had quite a nice smile when it wasn’t mocking, though she forced the thought to flee her mind as quickly as it had come.

The femme nodded as he suggested getting food first. As he moved into his room, she moved to lean against the door frame, but found she couldn’t even move that far into his room. He had walked through with such ease, yet she found she could push against the air and it felt like a wall had been set up right there. A thought occurred to her. “Wow. I guess people aren’t allowed in other’s rooms. I didn’t know that before. What’s the point of having a key if the way is already blocked to others?” She shrugged and took a step back into the hall. Maybe just one of the Planet’s quirks.

“Have you eaten dinner yet? The restaurant is for full meals while the kitchen is basically for quick snacks.” She had had an early dinner, and a few hours had passed. She would be fine with a quick snack or an actual meal. Either way she wasn’t picky.

When he had put his bag away and returned to the hall, Katara turned and they began walking toward the decided destination.

Rusty nodded with a smile.. looking back at that bag that held a large sum of cash.. That can only be good on Earth. And in the United States for that matter. But he looked back at her. "But I could stick around for a little while. It's not like I have some place to be. I'll start to miss my friends.. but we'll worry about that when the time comes. You must miss your friends and family too right?"

He is starting to look at this place as some sort of Savings Account. He followed her out as she said something about her not able to enter in his room.. a brow raised.. "No one else is allowed in other people's rooms?" Rusty got a little nervous.. What if he wanted to bring a woman back to his room? Or vice versa? But that really wouldn't stop him.. May cause a minor dillemma but never would stop him.

"I haven't eaten dinner yet.. The stuardist failed to roll down my isle on the plane. But sure we can dine in at the Resturant if you'd like." Rusty smiled.. she seemed very nice. Pretty. And also very young compared to how old he is. So he knew well not to think anything about tossing her flirtatious sayings.. Although she is a very pretty.. he was a respectful man. SO he kept saying that over and over his head to stop himself from thinking anything wrong. Also he needed a friend on this planet.. and dinner would help him find out more about his new friend.

Katara watched him curiously. She began to wonder what was in that bag of his. He looked more protective over it than a person should have been if mere clothing were contained there. Then again, maybe it really was clothing with sentimental value to it or something. She had no way of knowing and no reason to make it any of her business, so she remained silent on that specific topic.

“It is nice here as far as prisons go,” The waterbender admitted, “but I do miss my friends and family a lot.” In truth it had taken her only a few moments of being in the Mirage to realize she missed her family and friends. Ever since she read the tablet she craved their comforting presences. “We don’t really have a choice in sticking around for a while, but I’m determined to return to my home land. I don’t care how long it takes. I’m not going to just give up.” It was encouraging that he seemed to want out of here, too, even if it would only happen eventually, but for all she knew once he got a taste of this place he might never want to leave. She couldn’t pressure him to help her if he didn’t want to do it.

Katara shrugged her shoulders at his question. “I guess not. I just tried to lean against the frame and I couldn’t even get in that far. Look.” She placed a hand against the opening to the room and pushed, but her hand didn’t even budge. “I’ve never had anyone in my room, or tried to go into someone else’s room. Maybe there’s a way to have others in your room, but I don’t know what it would be. This place is so strange with some of the things it has to offer. Did you know pictures can move and make sound?”

The femme smiled, glad she’d had it right that he was hungry, but his modern jargon was completely lost on her. “What’s a ‘stewardess’? I take it there was a village on the plain where you lived then?” Katara asked, completely mistaking his meaning of airplane to mean that of a terrain; after all, the two words were pronounced the same.

Katara led the way to the restaurant, and took a seat across from Rusty at a table. Almost immediately a stone golem in a fine suit was there, looking down at them as it waited for an order. “I’ll have giant sea crab meat with rice, please, and water to drink.” She smiled at Rusty, “They have any food imaginable here. They have food here that I ate in my home world that I haven’t had since I was in the Southern Water Tribe. It’s amazing.”

Rusty did admire her determination. There really needed to be more people like this. Maybe if there was more people here they may just find a way out. Then again it is tiny people vs a Planet. A Planet they are now inhabiting. Rusty still finds it completely unreal but he keeps finding himself believeing it.

"We'll find a way back. Easy Come; Easy Go, right?" He smiled. Then he turned his attention back to how she can't get into his room.

"Wow.. that is Strange. I'm sure we'll find a way to break this barrier too..Did you just say pictures that move and make sound? Sounds like a film you're talking about. We have those where I come from."

Then she asked about the Stewardess.. and he completely forgot she was not from Earth. He laughed lightly amused by how she took the word 'Plane' differently. But it was cute.

"Oh not that kind of plain. Where I'm from we have these huge metal transportation systems with wings called an AirPlane. And sometimes we just call them Planes for short. And a stewardess is like a waittress on the airplane. She was a very bad waitress." Something about Rusty, he always needed to have something to drink or food in his hand. It's a comfort zone for him.

When they finally approached the resturant.. and they took a seat.. his eyes grew big and wide when he saw what she said to be a Golem. It was the most unreal mind mending thing he's seen. It almost made him forgot to speak.

"OH. I'll take a Burger with fries. And to drink I'll take a Rum and Coke." He looked back at Katara..after the golem left. "Now that's some service. Wish we had that on Earth.-- Tell me more about this Water Tribe. It's not everyday I run into a girl from a different planet."

Katara’s cheeks coloured a bit as he mentioned films. Of course he would be from a time and place that offered those things. She seemed to be the only one amazed at them here. Very funny, Planet… The young woman thought with some annoyance. At least she had a name for the moving, talking pictures.

Then he began speaking of the huge metal contraptions that fly, and she felt amazed. Sokka would have loved to see those. It was interesting to know that- assuming Rusty was from the same world as Tyler- even though their people couldn’t bend the elements, they could still do things that only benders in her world could do. “That sounds really cool, the airplanes I mean- not the bad stewardess. In my world only airbenders could fly. Well, and the firebenders when they had the hot air balloons. I guess there were also the Earth Kingdom people who inhabited the Northern Air Temple. They found a way to create machines that blew hot air around, so they could fly with gliders they made. Other than that, no other humans could fly. From the way you talk about it, it sounds like anyone can ride in those planes.”

Katara grinned at his reaction to the golem. She might have reacted much the same if she hadn’t thought of earthbending in association with them first. Moments after Rusty ordered and asked her about the Water Tribes, the golem returned to place their food and drinks in front of them. “No one in my world offered this fast of service, either.” She smiled before lifting a pair of chopsticks to eat a bit of the crab meat and rice. After taking a sip of her water, she began describing her world a bit.

“Well, there are four nations in my world. The Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom are each one large land mass, though the Fire Nation has some small islands. However, the Air Temples and the Water Tribes are split up. There are four Air Temples, one in each direction- north, east, south, and west. There are three Water Tribes. The Northern Water Tribe is in the North Pole, the Southern Water Tribe- where I’m from- is in the South Pole, and the Foggy Swamp Tribe is in the Foggy Swamp in the Earth Kingdom.

“They’re sort of named for the most prominent bending ability in that region. I’m a waterbender, for example, and I’m from the Southern Water Tribe.

“What about you? What was your home world like?” Katara took a couple more bites of her meal and drank more water from her glass.

Rusty nodded towards the stone golem after they quickly delivered their food.. Katara's entree looked rather appetizing, he may just have to order that the next time he came by. But the man loved his burgers. A typical American meal--but he loved the fresh grilled taste of a Cheeseburger. He picked up the hand held entree and took a nice big bite while he listened to her speak about her world. It was definitely nothing like he's ever heard of. And how only certain people were allowed to fly.

"Well.. we have captains that operate these airplanes. We just hop along for the ride. Lucky us right?" He said with his mouth still a little full from hamburger meat and bread. He took a swallow.. and continued to hear her talk about the Fire Nations and the Air and Water. He then came to know that she is of the Water Tribe.

"So you can control anything that has to do with water?" He said intrigued by the whole idea.

"Me? Well. I live in a world that is separated by a lot of things. First we have our North south east west Hemispheres. Then we break it down to Continents. Then it's broken down into Countries. Then where I am from we're broken down into States. So I am Rusty from the Northern Hemisphere, in North America, of The United states of America, and I inhabit the state of California." He was trying to make it sound more exotic than it really was. He also didn't expect her to keep up with the vocabulary.

"I don't have any real special power.. But I do have my talents." He took another bite out of his burger.. then reached to grab his spiked cola.. and took a nice drink from it. Katara seized to amaze him.. everything she was telling him.. it was unbelievable.. but after being taken to an uncharted planet; he may have to take her word for it.

Katara found it interesting that certain people maneuvered the planes while others simply tagged along. It made perfect sense, though. If one person had a skill for flying while another didn’t, they could help the ungifted one along by carrying them. Aang had helped others fly away while he used his glider to ride the air currents and lift them away from whatever they might have tried to escape. “Lucky, indeed. It’s good that, among your people, there are those willing to help others like that.”

Katara took a couple of bites of her meal, and sipped her water. Her eyes widened, and a grin spread across her features when she registered his next question. “That’s right!” She said. He must be really good at putting two and two together. Some of the other people around here hadn’t understood at all what waterbending was. “Not everyone in my world can bend elements, though. It’s a gift some people are born with.”

The waterbender listened and tried to understand what he said as best as she could. She wasn’t sure what a hemisphere was, but she did understand what continents and countries were. It wasn’t too difficult to figure out what a state was after that, though. It must just be different divisions within one larger area. Perhaps that’s what all of those were, so a hemisphere must be an area containing more than one continent or country. Katara didn’t quite lose him when he said exactly which parts of the world consisted of his home, but the fact that she’d never heard of any of those names made it difficult to keep up. “Do you like your home a lot?” She asked at last.

“As far as I can see, everyone here has their own gifts and talents. While I’ve been here, I met a fabulous singer, an impressively strong man, an aspiring doctor, and a writer. Even in my world that was filled with benders, those who couldn’t bend made their ways accordingly. My brother can’t waterbend, but he’s a great warrior and a good scientist.

“What talents do you have?”

Rusty really was impressed by how she specialized in water.. It really made sense to him.. everything about her.. her appearance her voice and everything seemed very pure. She was very nice company and he didn't really feel threatened or assume she may be apart of this imprisoning phenomenon. But he wasn't sure how she would look at him if he told her the truth about him.. What he did for a living.

"My talents? Well. Let's just say I am very good with Money." He wasn't sure if they used currency on her planet. But who knows. "Have you heard of Gambeling, Katara?"

He was hoping she didn't.. because Gambeling was frowned upon with certain types of people. Some people thought of it as fun and games. Other's found it as a waste of time or even a sin. Of course Rusty did more than just Gamble. He knew every trick in the book to cheat and con his way to winnings. And the talent was he could do it without anyone noticing. He took another drink to wash down that burger..

Katara knew he was leaving something out when he told her he was good with money. At first she wondered if perhaps he was a banker or something, but then he mentioned gambling. “You gamble?” The Water Tribe femme had seen people gamble before. On small games among friends it didn’t seem like such a bad thing, but on a larger scale some people could lose everything. Apparently in his mind, though, Rusty was a skilled gambler. “What kind of games did you gamble on in your world? In my world Pai Sho was a popular game to gamble on.”

She kept all disapproving tones out of her voice. Katara didn’t approve of gambling addictions, though, because of the horrible misfortune it could cause. However, if this man was really as good as he seemed to believe, then who was she to judge him? Unless he cheated innocent people out of their money, but he seemed really nice and she didn’t think he’d be up for something like that. Then again, what did she really know about him? Not much, as she’d only just met him.

Katara ate more of her food and drained off the last of her water.

"We have buildings called Casinos that contains various games which you can gamble with. What I do is I find a way to win every time." He smirked.. He knew very well that he sounded like a thief.. I mean heck that is what he was. But unlike most thieves his intentions are different. "Now. You're probably thinking, 'Isn't that stealing?' Well yes. But. The world is full of terrible people, Katara. People who hurt others. And those people that do hurt other people or people who just flat out bad; those are the kind of people I steal from. Kinda like Robin Hood. Cause I just don't like stealing from innocent people. Not for me."

Rusty has also done many things where he managed to unlock the coin sequences in Slot Machines. Then he would leave the slot machine for someone else to win the jack-pot. He called that con the 'Susan B. Anthony.' Rusty didn't expect Katara to understand. He doesn't even know why he's even telling her the truth about himself. Perhaps it's because currency and gambling is not even no where near relevant on this Planet. Everything is provided for the planet so what was the point of cash? Rusty's also beginning to wonder if he'll have a purpose here.

Katara’s brows furrowed when he said he found a way to win every time. It sounded like he was a cheater, and, now that he mentioned it, cheating was a form of stealing. Maybe he wasn’t such a great guy after all. Then again, he had continued speaking and declared that he never stole from innocents but from bad people. When he mentioned that people did things to hurt others, the waterbender knew all too well of what he spoke. In the war when the Fire Nation tried to conquer the world, too many people were hurt in too many ways. She saw much of that while working with refugees. “Who is ‘Robin Hood’?” She asked, oblivious to the stories of which his world had grown up.

“I know what you mean, though. Sometimes a person has to do bad things to help good people. There was a war in my world about five years ago. The Fire Nation tried taking over the Nations, and my family, friends, and I had to cause harm to horrible people to make it possible to establish a good man as a ruler- one who wouldn’t hurt people just for the sake of power.

“But tell me something. Do you cheat in gambling to gain the money for yourself, for others, or do you just do it to bring down people who aren’t so good?”

"Oh-- Well Robin Hood is a fictional man in a story. He stole from a rich evil prince and gave to the poor." Surely Rusty was a bit more modernized. He listened to her.. and was comforted to understand.. Then he pondered after she asked him that certain question..

"Well. For starters. What I do is much more than just cheating. It's an art. My reasons started out not so generous. Each time I do what I got to do.. I have a different reason. Do I do it for personal gain? Not often. Oh and I never like killed anyone if you were wondering that; violence just isn't me."

Him and his pals run so many different cons at once that when they do steal money; it goes unnoticed to the public eye. They can even work under a police officer's watch. He can make a simple robbery look like a false alarm.

"So to answer your question.. it's a little bit of everything is what I do."
