Who: Layla and OTA
Why: She is in desperate need of thinking things over. So, she plays with the plants, making herself a temporary garden to talk to.
When: Day 33
Status: Incomplete.
Rating: PG-13

Layla was crying, she was sad that she couldn't find some people like the Commander and Jetstream, Will and Warren, goddess even Magenta. She had to put on a very brave face for everyone, plus herself. Now, she could be sad and lonely, talk to the plants and get her spirit back on track. She needed to re-align her chi.

She started off small, growing some trees to taper off her garden, they grew big and strong. Layla closed her eyes and listened to them talk, smiling wildly. Then she began to grow some plants they grew up the trunks of her trees. Pumpkins, tomatoes, some ivy too. It already had her smiling. Using her powers willfully, not for good or evil, just for herself, for the moment. This way she could talk to her children, her creations. Layla did, walking to each of them, caressing their hides. They all turned to her, followed her around and seemed to be happy. When Layla smiled, they preened and showed off, Layla was clapping that they all seemed so happy.

Tonks was glowing, and not just figuritively, either. Yes, she was happy, but there was more to it than that. In truth, she'd wanted her exterior to match how she was feeling inside, so she'd taken a trick she'd learned from the fallen star, Yvaine. She hadn't seen the star lady for a long time, but she had learned the lesson well.

Today, she was positively radiant. She was smiling constantly, her skin was pure and white, almost shining with good health, and her hair, most remarkably of all, actually gave off little glimmers of light. It took more concentration to do than normal, but she rather liked the effect of the pink glints of light as she moved. She wished she could see Yvaine again and thank her for this lesson, but she had to think the other woman was one of those lucky people who had been taken back home. At least, she hoped that's where they had gone.

Walking outside, she even seemed to be tripping less than usual. Which meant that it only happened once ever ten steps or so, about half as often as usual. She saw something strange, and went to investigate. The planets were growing, all by themselves! But no, there was someone... another witch, maybe? Someone who had done well in Herbology, obviously... she waved cheerfully and approached her. "Wotcher! I'm so glad to see someone who knows how to do that!" Although, come to think about it, she'd never heard of anyone who could actually speed up the growth of plants... interesting.

Layla gasped and turned, the pumpkin seemed to have turned its head slightly at the new comer as well.

"Oh, golly, I hadn't heard you back there. Wow, you are...beautiful. You shimmer so nicely in the dying sunlight, it is breath taking." Layla rambled out quickly, bouncing on her heels a little. Layla had been sad lately, this was a nice little surprise.

Layla turned to look at her handy work, then the girl, then back. "I, Um, well I have a really green thumb for this. Oh and my name is Layla, not Wotcher, but if I meet the person named Wotcher, I will tell them you said hello? I didn't catch your name though?" Layla said with a radiant smile, petrified of being taken the wrong way or that this person might be terse with her as well.

Being a witch, Tonks wasn't even remotely concerned with the fact that the pumpkin seemed to be looking at her. She actually gave it an ironic little salute and then turned her full attention to the other woman. Anyone who could do such things was of interest to her, and she was more than a little intruiged. Of course, she was also in such a good mood right now that she probably would have loved to talk to anyone. It was an added bonus, though, that the other woman was already interesting.

She beamed happily at the woman at the compliment, not at all opposed to hearing such things. "Thanks. I'm trying it on, you know, the sparkling. Learned it from a star..." But that had to make very little sense, and she stopped before she sounded any more crazy.

"Layla, pretty name." She grinned. "Nah, wotcher is just how I say hi. It's a brit thing." The pink-haired woman glanced around at the profusion of plants, and raised an eyebrow. "I'm Tonks, an Auror and a witch, and I've never seen anyone make plants grow like this."

Layla beamed back at her. "Wow, that is a beautiful skill, the star must have been beautiful, as beautiful as you are." Layla couldn't say anyone was crazy, I mean, her friends all had wild and cool talents. They did things people couldn't imagine doing, so why would it be odd for someone to speak to a fallen star. Layla believed that there were more to this universe, or universes then just them. There had to be other being, fantastical and marvelous. So, Layla believed the young woman with all of her heart.

"Thank you very much. Wotcher," Layla parroted back with a smile. "Catchy, I like it. Oh, you are British? That is so fantastic. Where are you from? I always wanted to travel to great Britain. What is an Auror? A witch, like a Wiccan? I am sort of pagan myself, I do beleive in god, my father believes in the Christian religion and myself and my mother beleive in nature, science...so Pagan basically straddles those beliefs. I hope that made sense? Oh, this?"

Layla blushed hard then,"Well, where I come from we have gifts. Well, some of my friends do have them. They all vary, my gift is I can talk to plants. My mother can talk to all kinds of animals." Layla said eagerly, bouncing on her heels, hands clasped in front of her with a beaming smile. "So, tell me about being an Auror?" Layla asked.

Tonks pretty much decided on the spot that she liked this girl. Okay, so that wasn't so strange, as Tonks pretty much liked everyone. But Layla was sweet, had a great gift with plants, and had repeatedly called Tonks beautiful. She practically beamed at her, her good will spilling over so she was even more radiant. Love and a metamorphmagus, definitely an interesting affect.

"Yeah, that's right!" She grinned, thinking it sounded interesting in the other woman's accent. "Oh yeah, London born and bred. It's really brilliant there, but it rains a lot. Some people have a hard time with that." She leaned against a nearby tree, only stumbling a little. "What's a Wiccan? I'm a witch, you know, wand and magic and all that..." She pulled her wand out and made a little fountain of water come out of it with a shake.

The stuff Layla said about gifts didn't phase Tonks in the slightest. After all, she was from a world where magic was quite commonplace. She just nodded slightly. "Gotcha. Well, let's see. An Auror is a dark wizard catcher, which means we catch bad guys and put them in jail. Lots of fun." It could have been sarcastic, but wasn't. Tonks loved her job.

"I love the rain, I love to dance in it and just be free, you know?" Layla asked the other woman. Layla was smiling because the other woman seemed so wildly happy and it was rubbing off on her.

"Uh, well, Wiccan's believe in all the old gods-Greek, Egyptian, Roman, etc, and they make up their own religious basis, usually pertaining to nature. Then they go out on the Sabbath's, both small and large to pray and so forth. It is kind of the new age form of paganism. No animal or people sacrifices, just ritual, belief, love for yourself, your fellow man and nature." Layla said with a soft smile.

When she pulled out her wand, Layla's eyes went wide at the sight of the fountain. "Wow, that is amazing." Layla said beaming. "Oh golly, dark Wizard? You mean dangerous people? It sounds, sort of, like what I did back home." Layla pondered out loud.

"Dancing in the rain?" The thought appealed to Tonks, though she couldn't think of one person that she knew back home that would do that. Well... perhaps Luna. The quirky witch was that sort of person. But it did sound like fun. "Maybe I'll try that the next time in rains!"

She listened carefully to the other woman speaking about Wicca, her pretty nose eventually getting wrinkled up in confusion. "Gods... and nature?" It didn't make any sense to her, but as a witch, she didn't really worship anything. It wasn't the wizard way. "Well, I'm glad you don't sacrifice anything... it's a bloody brutal ritual, I never got where muggles got off trying to do things like that."

Tonks flicked her wand again, and the fountain stopped abruptly. She winked at Layla and shoved the wand in her back pocket once more. "Yeah? You caught dark Wizards?" She sounded keenly interested, and was.

"Oh yes, it can be quite fun. Just letting go and dancing in the rain." Layla said with a broad smile. "Well, yes, a nature based religion, with a polytheastic set of gods, or many gods. The olden times, olden pagans and such were a pretty brutal sort. They thought to appease all those gods you must give forth blood, AKA Life. A life was sacred, therefore to sacrifice one was something held as special. The new agers believe in a less violent way of celebrating their life and their religion. It is free, full of wonder and lots of practical magic." Layla stated softly, it was a complicated set of rules to explain.

Layla watched her again in amazement when she made the fountain stop running. A little disappointed that it was gone now.

"Oh? What, Oh now, no Dark Wizards. More like Super villains. They have special powers and used them for evil miens."

"I really do have to try that!" She was getting excited even at the idea of it. It sounded like exactly the sort of thing she would do, and she wondered why she'd never thought of it before. It had never come up, that was all. But it seemed a shame.

"I see..." She shook her head. "I'm glad they got some sense back, at least." She wasn't the sort of person who could approve of anything like a bloody religion that did sacrifices, human or otherwise. "Well, it sounds interesting... but I don't think I'm that kind of witch."

She glanced around at the wonderful garden and then back to the girl with some surprise. "Super villians? That sounds..." She thought about that for a moment, and then flashed a bright grin at the other woman. "Really brilliant, actually. I'd like to track some of them down. Anything evil, really, is what I like to find and put in jail."

"You should, it is quite powerful and helps to cleanse the soul and the mind." Layla said with a soft nod.

"Me too, since I am not big on violence. I am very much all about peace, love and working it out between the people with your mind, not your fists." Layla nodded again softly. "Oh, well, that is good. I mean, that I met more types of witches, it is always nice to meet empowered and happily adjusted individuals with all kinds of purposes and ways of life. It is truly wonderful." Layla said with a brilliant smile.

Layla nodded then. "Yeah, where I came from, they have super villains and super heroes, sidekicks too and regular people, but that doesn't change that they too, can be heroes themselves. Probably more so then others who are gifted, you know what I mean. I think the every man, the people who make the tough decisions every day are more powerful and more heroic then others. Then you have to throw in prejudice, and vanity, ugh it can all be such a mess, you know? Well, if you were in my world, they would be happy to have the help."

Tonks frowned thoughtfully. "That's really interesting." She had to think about that for awhile. Of course, part of her job was being violent, and she needed to get her thoughts in order. "I guess, for me... it's complicated. Because there's people out there who want to hurt other people, and they don't listen when you try to talk to them."

She sighed softly. "It would be good if we could just talk everything out, but when someone is trying to kill you..." She shrugged, and let the thoughtful mood drop from her. "But nevermind that! It's good to meet you too! And the same with the empowered and well adjusted thing!" because, from what she could see, Layla was just that.

"I know this guy..." She thought for a moment before continuing. "He's a snarky git, actually, but he used to be much worse... I think it takes even more strength to be a reformed villian than a hero. Because everyone keeps waiting for you to bugger it up." She shrugged. "But you could be right. Normal, everyday people just making their way, perhaps they are the true heroes."

"Well, I think that is the same everywhere, you know? So, don't worry about it too much, not much you can do about those types, but to do your job." Layla said thoughtfully, with a sage nod.

"Yeah, but then they think they are right and they beleive in order to get what they want they have to hurt people in order to get it. It is a vicious circle it is." Layla said softly.

"It is very good to meet you too." Layla beamed gently at the girl with the pretty and funky hair color. "To us empowered and well adjusted types." Layla said with a giggle.

"Oh, that is sad. I mean, you try very hard to get it right for a change and people put all this pressure on your to muck it up again. It must be a daunting experience on all accounts?" Layla said gently. "I think everyone is a hero in their own right. They just need to tap into that power." Layla said with a smile, then plopped down onto the ground, sitting Indian style.
