Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:complete, day 33, laura moon, light yagami

This may be a shocker
Who: Light Yagami and Laura Moon
What: Poor Raito-kun has to deal with L's scary stalker! Have pity on our little god!
Where: Somewhere in the forest, hiking.
When: Day 33, around noon
Status: Active

Light knew he wasn't going to get anywhere stuffed up in that room of his. In fact, doing so would only make him seem more suspicious....As if he needed that!

Besides, he could do for some fresh air. Some room to think. And staying active would be best for his mind anyway. So, since the resort seemed to have...changed...into something of a woodsy, rustic atmosphere, he decided to go hiking. Maybe he'd swim later. Swimming was always good. Okay, he'd hike and then swim....Then, he'd go back to his room and try to come up with a way out of here.

He wasn't about to leave his work unfinished! Different dimension or not, he was going to find a way back and he was going to take advantage of L's absence and do just as he'd planned to do once L was dead. He would take L's place and be in charge of all of Kira's opposition. He'd rule the world! He'd be a GOD!

But, for now, he had one large obstacle of that becoming reality: This damned planet. He cursed under his breath as he worked his way through the leaves and brush on the hill he was climbing.

Damn planet. Once he became a god, he'd find SOME way to blow the whole thing up.

She thought that he might be a little bit off-kilter to begin with. She did not, however, think it wise to voice this opinion. As such, she kept it to herself. While she wasn't polite, she didn't want him to scare him off. She had important things to say.

Realizing that she'd been holding on a little bit too long, she gave his hand one last squeeze and pulled away. "I don't really notice time passing." It was a remark that was as close to an apology as he was getting. She wasn't sorry; that warmth had been delicious. Also, he hadn't pulled away. She wasn't sure it was for lack of wanting to, but he had stayed put. That said something about him. She wished that she was better at reading people. She'd had such a good sense about that in life. Now she was just...inept.

"No, you're right. It serves no purpose, getting off to a bad start. But, I can understand where it comes from. We both have conflicting interests. You see, it is in my interest to keep L safe and to look after him as he has no such person here and supposedly did in life. It is in your interest to prove your innocence, which L disputes, and your insistence puts him ill at ease. His ill ease is a threat because that which upsets him impedes my interest. So you see, Light, you and I have conflicting interests. That tends to be a mood killer right off the bat."

She fell silent. Fact, and the presentation thereof, usually helped. It made things clearer. She liked fact. It held no illusions.

"Is the air fresh?" she said, looking around blandly. Not having a sense of smell was a detriment. Most people didn't appreciate their olfactory nerve. It was the kind of thing one couldn't appreciate until it was gone.

"...Yes...L dislikes being wrong....to the point that, if he is, he does not want to accept it. I do make him ill...simply because I am proof he was wrong at something. And, yes, it would seem we have conflicting interests, however, we can ignore that part of the situation and try to get to know each other without L involved. If we think of L, we will simply set ourselves up for making an enemy instead of gaining a friend."

He was quiet for a moment, as if regaining his thoughts. "...Yes...the air is fresh...It is already helping me calm down...It smells better than back home...clearer...as if it is not as polluted..."

"What was your life like on Earth?" she asked, seemingly out of the blue. "Did you value it? Do you value it still despite the fact that it has changed, drastically, for better or for worse? What did you do? What did you like? Who did you consider a friend?" A pause. He was from the same place L was taken from. "What is Japan like?"

Laura sat down on the grass, leaning against a tree. If he wanted to make a friend, she'd do her best to be one. It'd be easier to watch him that way. Being dead had taught her how to be tactical. While she only had speed and strength on her side, she was a woman, and she had been clever in the past. That clever nature led to problems most of the time, but trouble could always be used to an advantage. It could certainly cause a distraction.

How could such a normal looking boy be a murderer? She had to consider it, over and over, wondering how and what he must have been like, really, on the inside to do what L said he had done. Still, L was the most intelligent person that she had ever known. He didn't need to lie, just as she didn't need to listen to lies. Death was an empirical truth, and it was such truths that she cared for. They made sense. If humans lied less, perhaps they could enjoy their lives more. Unfortunately, they enjoyed too much being cruel and pulling the wool over their own eyes. She knew it to be true; she had done it to herself.
