ONE | LOCKED OUT
It seems as if someone hasn't been paying their rent to keep staying in their home. As a result, when you go home after a long day, you find that you're locked out. There's a notice on the door of how much you owe in rent. Oops. Maybe you got greedy about what's in your jar, or perhaps there's nothing in your jar at all. What are you going to do now?

TWO | INTO THE MINES
You've gone deeper into the mines than you ever have before - perhaps you were exploring or perhaps you were hoping to mine those little gem clovers. Regardless, now you're facing down some of the monsters that lurk deep beneath the mountain. Are you ready to fight? Or are you ready to run, instead?

THREE | REVERSE YOUR FORTUNE
It's been a rough few days, and your jar reflects it. The dark konpeito doesn't shine the way the colorful konpeito does. It seems to suck in the light, instead, and with it your own mood. You won't be able to keep going on like this... you know you have to do something to get more colorful konpeito back. But how are you going to do that and can you break out of the mood that seems to radiate off your jar?

You have to be joking me. I did pay rent!

[He tries to bang on the door loudly several times to no avail before giving up with an exasperated groan. THIS IS DUMB. Never mind that he really was short before rent day, maybe spent too much elsewhere that particular month... and probably tried to pay with some of the less than sparkly konpeito in the jar to make up for it. No luck there.] Great. What now, hit a job board or something?

Guess I'd better get moving if I don't want to sleep outside.

[Even for one of the so-called defenders of the universe, with plenty of good deeds under his belt to fill a jar, it feels almost inevitable for Keith to have one of those bad days, where the unusual nature of this situation doesn't exactly help matters and the konpeito shift to match. That's what he thinks must be the cause, anyway, feeling his mood sour, gnawing at him enough that it's hard to ignore. Most may not necessarily see a difference between "grumpy" and "extra grumpy" Keith, but... well, he knows himself enough to feel it. Enough to try to shove it deep deep down, staring at the jar with a frown mixed with all the negative thoughts floating to the forefront of his mind.]

I get it. [He sighs, half grumbling, sitting in a somewhat less conspicuous spot outside ideal for brooding.] Thing's a real stickler for the cosmic balance.

[Most may not necessarily see the difference, huh? Well joke's on you because here's the guy who can absolutely tell that difference. Not that he isn't also feeling the effect of the day, too, although he can't begin to even realize it's the jar itself causing that influence. He might not have a lot of dark konpeito, but he has enough to affect him, although for him that manifests more as him just Looking Thoughtful. I mean, why work through your trauma and dark thoughts when you can focus on other people instead and outwardly insist you're fine????]

[Which is all to say, as you're brooding, you'll likely feel Shiro's approach even before he puts the hand on your shoulder.]

[Trust him to be the one. Funny how even despite the festering feelings getting drawn out of him, that strong hand on his shoulder still brings a sense of calm for Keith, taking the edge off just enough. He pauses for a beat before looking over to him.] Shiro...

I'm okay. [Mrr, sort of. His voice goes a little quieter, as if trying to push past the frustration.] It's just- I guess I don't really get any of this, still.

Okay. [Not that he doesn't... feel some kind of strange mood, but then again he's also a master of compartmentalizing, so.] Sitting here probably isn't helping. Come on, let's get moving.

Sure, let's head there. [Better than nothing. He knows vaguely where it is from what he's been able to figure from scooping out this place. It's a small enough island, after all, and they've been here long enough that he's not about to direct them into a volcano or something, so.]

[Listen, he'd follow you right into a volcano just as well, it's chill-- I mean. He walks close beside Shiro, focusing now on the path ahead and the person next to him more than any negative energy or the thoughts coming from it. It's a beat before he speaks up a little again.]

Hey... What about you? [He knows what the answer will probably be but he has to ask after him regardless- Shiro gets it, and Keith knows there could just as easily be more to it for him. His hand absently brushes behind Shiro's arm.] Are you doing okay?

[The question jars him a little from where he'd already started slipping into his thoughts as they walked. And his impulse is to assure Keith he's fine and he's used to doing that; when they're in intense situations that require fast thinking, it's not really the time to dive into his thoughts, so it's the instinct. But here, it's so quiet and there's little to do but be stuck in thoughts that the pause is. super obvious when he doesn't answer right away.]

[But he breaks the quiet with a small, self-deprecating laugh.]

Yeah, I-- yeah. Just... thinking. Probably didn't sleep well last night? [always his go-to lmao he never sleeps well anymore.] I'm fine, Keith.

[He just has his usual headache. What else is new? At least they're never as bad here as they are back home.]

[It brings different sort of edge, not one of anger or frustration but concern instead, at the brief but telling silence before he speaks. Honestly, he knows Shiro enough that he's never necessarily faulted him for it - especially not lately, not after all he's been through. It never makes Keith worry any less though.]

Oh! Well, actually... [digs around in her pocket and pulls out one of those aforementioned strips of paper.] Recently, I accepted a job from the Usyagi...

It says that I need to help get the stray animals out of the library. [because... apparently that's a problem?] But, if you wanted to help me with that, that should give you enough in your jar to get back into your house again.
