Event 12 is coming!
Well, dear godlings, all those strange events and dreams are finally going to be leading up to this! Our Halloween Event!
This year, there won't be any kidnappings. No forced costumes. This year, what matters is what's on the inside.
Have you ever had one of those days where you wish you could just say "Screw it!" and do whatever you really wanted? You know, where you find yourself thinking, "Man, I wish I could do ____, if it weren't for my job/my family/the law/the rules/whatever"?
Godlings, this is your chance to do just that.
For 24 hours, beginning on sunrise of Halloween and continuing through to sunrise on November 1st, you can just forget about all those pesky policies, rules, laws and social niceties and do what YOU want to do! To heck with the consequences! It's not that there won't necessarily be consequences or that the godlings won't be aware of that, they simply aren't going to care about them.
Alternately (or possibly in addition!), if you have a character who pretty much doesn't give a damn about laws, rules and the like as it is, on this day, whatever personal codes, higher natures or other impulse-controls are keeping your character acting like a civil and productive member of society are going right out the window. Your weaknesses, flaws, personal quirks and lower natures are being thrust into a glaring spotlight, while your better natures get shoved onto the back burner. Yes, this is the day for you to be on your worst behavior.
Just a few caveats for the sake of clarity:
1) None of you are to forsake IC-ness for this event. I repeat: DO NOT FORSAKE IC-NESS FOR THIS EVENT! If you do, you'll be earning yourself a little chat with the Enforcement Mod. So, please, stay within character. All of the behaviors and impulses you exhibit are things that are already part of your character's nature and personality. In other words, if your character is normally a Boy Scout, s/he is not going to suddenly turn into an axe murderer (unless s/he has been trying to repress axe-murderer impulses this whole time). Instead, for example, said Boy Scout-type character might turn into an insufferable, arrogant, holier-than-thou asshole that drives everyone else up the wall. Characters who are naturally destructive, wicked or the like are probably going to create a lot of insurance claims for November. Or, it's possible that things that are normally your virtues might become your weaknesses. For example, a character who is (possibly secretly) kind, generous and a total softie might happen across a UNICEF commercial on TV, and 30 seconds later be bawling their little bleeding hearts out and dialing the 800 number to pledge their life savings away. Things like that.
2) There will be no power shifts. Your characters are remaining as mortal as usual for this event, with powers at their normal strengths.
3) Your characters will be lucid for this event. They will know perfectly well that they are behaving badly, but simply won't care/won't be able to overcome their id-driven impulses until sunrise the next morning.
4) And yes, depending on what actions your characters take, there may be serious, long-term consequences for what they do. Don't start something if you aren't willing to face the fallout.
Please feel free to use this as a plotting post amongst yourselves! If you need help coming up with ideas, this is the place to brainstorm!
And, as always, if you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask!
