Event 8 is coming!
Normally, I'd do this on the 13th, with tomorrow being our 18-month anniversary. (Way to go, Metem! I'm so proud of you! ♥) But it's only once a century that we get a date like 12-12-12, so I'm doing it today. ^_^
Just as a reminder, we open the game to the Mayan pantheon beginning on the 21st, so if you've been wanting a Mayan, now's your big chance!
Also, moms- and dads-to-be, I will be expecting birth announcements on the 21st (be watching the OOC for the announcement to go up), so these are your last few days to prepare custody, names, PBs, icons and powers!
And speaking of the births, here's how things are going to play out for Event 8:
First off, everyone will be returning to La Maison Jeu Ancien. For the most part, things will be much as they remember. However, the house and grounds will be decked out in holiday cheer: lights on the outside and on various landmarks and trees/bushes on the grounds, Christmas trees in the parlor and living room, a Yule log in the hearth, stockings on the fireplace with the godlings' names on them, candles, a menorah and a kinara, garlands, ribbons and mistletoe hung in the doorways (fear not, dear Norse! It's SILK mistletoe! No danger to Baldr here!)--everything to make the place feel perfectly festive and ready for celebrating Yule, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and all that.
Other things they'll notice are different include:
- The weather is no longer balmy, but rather will average between 25 and 35 degrees at any given time while they're there. Snow may fall either during the day or at night.
- Although, for the most part, they will remain cut off from the outside world and time cannot be tracked, there will be some exceptions to this. On whichever holiday (Yule, Christmas, Hanukkah, etc.) a particular godling celebrates, s/he will be able, for the holiday's duration only (24 hours, in most cases), to contact loved ones in the outside world if they choose. If they don't specifically celebrate one of the holidays, their day of contact will default to Christmas. If they do not contact anyone during their allotted time, they will not get another chance to do so until after the event. Also, ONLY on the 21st and 31st/1st will clocks function normally, showing the proper time. The rest of the time, they will be stuck at 12:00.
- Although the layout and bedrooms in the basement and first 3 floors will be just as they remember, there is now a FOURTH floor as well, reachable by both stairs and elevator (the dumbwaiter will also reach this floor now). Directly above the Master Suite on the 3rd floor will be a delivery room and a nursery separated by a large bathroom area with shower, whirlpool tub, infant baths, sinks--everything that could be used to clean up, relax, and/or have a water birth if they choose. All 3 rooms can be reached from the main hallway, but also connect directly to each other, as the Master Suite does below. Also, there are seven additional bedrooms upstairs equipped for the new parents (queen beds, full closets, and beds for their children if they desire to room together), a room reserved for breastfeeding/pumping, and 3 more full baths. The gifts received at the godling baby shower will also be here for their use.
Things to note:
- The godlings will all arrive in the Maison's ballroom at midnight the 21st--they will be able to hear a clock chiming 12 as soon as they get there. The event goes through New Year's Eve. After the clocks strike midnight for the new year, they will have thirty minutes for celebration at the Maison, and will be returned to their homes at 12:30 a.m. January 1st. There will be NO gloss for this event.
...this also means that no one is assigned to any particular bedroom--they may choose to sleep wherever they like.
- The closets/dressers/etc. will, for the entirety of the event, offer both the period clothing from their previous lives, as well as contemporary clothing to suit whatever their needs might be.
- For the entirety of the event, just as on Spring Equinox, all of the godlings will be granted their full powers once again. You are reminded to be aware of the potential synergies between powers, and remember that these synergies will be MUCH stronger with them as full-fledged immortals. Upon returning to the real world, they will revert back to their mortal incarnations. Characters with missing or incomplete memories of their original lives will not necessarily gain an instantly full memory set, but WILL find it easier to recall who they used to be.
And again, please remember, birth control methods that are effective for humans may not be so for gods. And, yes, the new mothers will regain their fertility very quickly after giving birth, and will also return to their pre-pregnancy shapes almost immediately and have to deal with minimal lochia. Their breast milk should come in within 24 hours of birth (rather than the usual 3 days or so for a human).
- The immortal next-gens will grow VERY quickly. Exactly how quickly will be up to the parents, but with one exception (Erato's half-mortal son), they should all be walking and talking and developmentally equal to a human child at least 18 months of age by the end of the event. They should be developmentally equal to a human child roughly age seven or eight by the time they are six months old, and growth will slow dramatically after that.
- If the godlings bought any gifts for their fellow godlings, those gifts will come to the Maison with them, and will appear under the Christmas trees.
- Lethe will again be the only animal at the Maison, aside from the aquarium fish.
Any questions? Let me know. ^_^
And, also, dear godlings... A meme of sorts, but everyone is required to participate. Please comment below with at least one in-character wish for a gift for each godling, if they could have ANYTHING they wanted as a present for the season. ^_~
