  • [dreamwidth.org profile] gorgeousnerd: Fic archiving? - I have two stories on AO3, versus the dozens of stories on my two fanfic communities, and I've been debating whether or not to archive the rest of my fic on there. So far, my thinking has been no. I prefer reading and posting fic on LJ and DW (although DW more than LJ, since LJ has some dubious fandom attitudes), and while I don't have anything against AO3, I didn't see anyone else defending the LJ system, so here's my reasoning. -

  • [info]vamp_ress: Commenting on Fic - I think a lot of authors don’t even think about how their journals or their fic looks to an outsider – or to a random passer-by. They post their story, they know there’s a reply-button somewhere and they expect readers to comment. But, it isn’t all that easy. If you want strangers to talk to you, you should at least make things as easy and accessable as possible for them. -

  • [info]alias_sqbr: Thoughts about Mary Sue - For me, female characters are the default. They're who I like to read, and who I like to write (of the six prose stories I have up at AO3, four have a totally female POV, one is almost all female, and one is mostly male). So if I'm going to worry about overinvesting in a character it will be because of "non-standard" things we have in common, like being disabled. -
