"I..." Sam paused and looked around before returning his attention to Jo. "I don't get it. This town was kind of small, sure, but it was teeming with life when I pulled in yesterday." Maybe this was a bad idea. Normally, he did his best to avoid the smaller towns. It was harder to disappear in them and towns like this one... towns where he knew someone were usually stricken from his map. He'd wanted to see a familiar face though. He'd wanted friendly company or just to be around someone who wouldn't pull a gun on him. Obviously, he wouldn't find it here. Not when the entire population of one town could disappear over night.
