010. Caught in the act

Caught In The Act Meme
(Extended Edition)

We all masturbate, it's nothing to be ashamed of. It's also something most prefer to keep private. But sometimes, people forget to knock while we're in the middle of things, and awkwardness ensues.

* Post with your character's name and fandom in the subject line
* Others reply, stumbling in on you.
* You pick a reaction from the list below. (Or roll 1-10!)
* PROFIT!

(Warning: possible triggers beyond!)

REACTIONS:
1) Embarrassment Yeah, someone just caught you in a very private act and you kind of wish the ground would swallow you up. Now.

2) Anger How dare someone barge in on you without knocking! You'll give them a piece of your mind right now.

3) Excitement Exhibitionism happens to be a major turn-on for you, so you'll just continue~ Maybe even ask them to give you a hand, hehehe...

4) Apathy Big deal, it's not like they've been living in a bubble where they never knew masturbation existed, and if they were they had to find out about it sometime.

5) Squick Either it was a family member who just walked in on you or you just feel so utterly dirty at having been caught doing something so personal.

6) Delayed reaction You didn't even notice they were there until after you finished.

7) Derailed reaction Oh no you've been--what is that on their head? Wait, the world's ending now? D-did you just see that unicorn? Worry about being caught later, figure out what the hell is going on first.

8) Frustration COME ON, EVERY TIME!

9) Relief Thank GOODNESS someone came by! Otherwise you'd have had to stop and go grab that toy/pillow/remote for the annoying stereo yourself. Also they could maybe swap discs because this movie isn't really doing it for you. What do you mean it's inappropriate? It's not like you're asking them to watch.

10) Wildcard! You know the rules!

"Well, I am sure we shall spoil you to the best of our abilities, my lady," he said softly, knowing full well that that wouldn't be anywhere near the level of service she was used to.

She smiled.

"I am grateful, Commander, but I don't want to keep any of you from your duties. I'm sure I can cope," she said.

"You are a guest on my ship," he murmured. "And that is more important than almost anything."

"Yes, but I'm sure you have duties and so on. I wouldn't wish to get in the way," she said.

"You, Lady Mary, could never be in the way." He flashed a shy smile.

She smiled back, finding his shyness rather endearing. He had been so wonderful about everything, and honourable.

"That is very kind of you, Commander. Not many would be as welcoming as you have been."

She saw the flush rise in his face, and was reminded forcefully of earlier - how he'd been so flustered by her arrival.

She glanced down at the coffee in her hand, focusing on that in an attempt to drive those images from her mind again.

But she couldn't stop herself from stealing a glance at him. He really was very handsome.

His fingers tightened around his cup. He truly had no notion how to talk to ladies. He had very little experience in the matter.

Sensing his awkwardness, she cast around for something to talk about.

"Tell me about your ship," she said. "Have you been in command very long?"

"No, not very," he said softly. "This is her first voyage under my command." He rubbed at the back of his neck. "I've commanded other ships, but during the peace I was placed back as a Lieutenant."

Mary nodded. "I know very little about the Navy I'm afraid," she admitted. "I'm not even sure how much it would have changed between this time and my own."

She laughed again at that image.

"Steam, actually," she said. "Ships run on steam power in my time."

"Yes," she said. "I'm afraid I don't know much about how exactly steam engines work. I think that coal is burned in furnaces, which heats water to create steam which is then used to drive the engine. Or something," she added, with an apologetic shrug and slight laugh.

"I could be wrong. I've only ever been on passenger liners, and even then it was several years ago."

She smiled at his obvious interest and curiosity. "Yes, I'm sure you'd find it all fascinating," she said. She almost wished she could tell him more about the topic.

She finished the coffee, setting the cup back on the tray. She reached for her necklace, playing with it almost absently as she wondered what happened next.

She was aware that around now many new advances were being made, and many more would come in the next century.
