OWL: Adrian to Stephen
Who: Adrian & Stephen
Where: Skies
When: Tuesday September 10th, 2005
Summary: Adrian sends a gift
Adrian had deliberated over Stephen's gift. He knew Stephen wouldn't expect much, if anything, from him but Floot had reminded him of the date several days earlier. So he'd thought about it, then thought some more, trying to figure out something that wasn't too over the top. Adrian tended to go over the top.
Finally, when he had an idea in mind, he'd spoken to Bradley. The accompanying shopping trip had involved a lot of eye rolling and sighing from the other man and Adrian had almost hexed the shop assistant and had had to be warned not to but they were finally done. He didn't think he ever wanted to see a shop called Selfridge's again. He also didn't think he was ever wearing the suit, shirt and underwear after this particular date.
He'd dropped by Theo's to pick up the books he'd sourced. Two of them were illegal but Adrian didn't ask questions and Theo didn't offer any answers. Besides, the Dark Arts were Stephen's focus area. He could hardly expect to learn anything if he didn't read up on it, right?
Packaging them up and writing a note, he sent it with Hamlet, not sure when Stephen was in from work but knowing he wasn't working late late.

Stephen,
I know you're not expecting this but happy birthday.
The books are only part of the present as all work and no play makes Stephen a dull Healer. You said you wanted to go out on a date in public - I do remember these things on occasion. Bradley recommended a restaurant - Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester I'm pretty sure he's sending us to the ponciest place ever I had to buy a suit. I've been told where it is so we can Apparate there. We have a table for two at 8.30 this evening if you're free? He says we'll want to go to Soho afterwards but considering the grin on his face, I'm not sure I trust his judgement.
Meet you at yours at 8.20?
Adrian
P.S. You might want to keep those books to yourself and out of sight of the Ministry. Just a suggestion.
