"Mancrush?" Ward asked, arching an eyebrow at her. Was she seriously asking him something like that? But allowing the moment to settle, his expression softened as he realized serious was about as far from what the question was as anything could be. She was looking to get a rise out of him, and honestly, Ward was happy to play along. If only to mess with her expectations. "Nah. If I was looking for a mancrush, I would be a little more creative than that. It would have to be someone just as intriguing as they were talented. I honestly don't put too much weight on appearance."
Ward was running through his brain to see if he could come up with anyone that he would admire to that extent. But he didn't think about celebrities that much, certainly not beyond whether he enjoyed them and if they had some substance to their abilities, no matter what it might seem. And while he could honestly say there had been a few people he'd known that he had admired in such a fashion, but considering the reactions that she'd had before, Ward was pretty sure bringing up Fitz in this context would shatter the camaraderie that they'd managed to forge.
"Punishment, right," Ward said with a laugh. "But there's a difference between punishment and torture. And if you make me watch The Ugly Truth, I might have to lodge a formal complaint to the Captain."
