"You could have taken Clint with you, that would have prevented this," she said with a slight wave of her arms. Skye hadn't actually expected the security guard to do as she'd asked, she had no official position in the Tower, she was just a guest here but apparently her words had worked because the guard was removing the cuffs.
"Got it," she snapped a little more harshly than the guy deserved, he was only doing his job after all but their reaction had been a little over the top considering that Ward had been returning and put up no resistance whatsoever.
Her eyes dropped to his wrists as he rubbed them but she looked back up almost straight away to meet his gaze. "Least I could do after you got my van back." A faint smile played across her features and she found herself with the urge to hug him but she also had the urge to punch him for going off without telling anyone. She did neither but stood there and listened to him speak. "Those bastards," she muttered under her breath as she bent down to look at a fresh looking dent in the bodywork. "I scrubbed all the records I could find, chances are they won't even realize anything is gone."
She stood up straight again and looked up at him, the smile she wore growing a little bit bigger as she did so. "Thank you for this. You have no idea how much this means to me," she said as she reached out and placed her hand against the side panel as if the van could help ground her. Strange as it may sound it actually did, her anger had all but slipped away and her heart no longer felt like it was going to hammer through her ribs, she was going to put all that down to the van and not to the man who had brought it back to her.
"And now you're my responsibility, so it's my job to make sure you follow the rules. I guess I should also figure out a punishment for leaving without permission in the first place." Her eyes still on his as she tried to keep a straight face, talk about a ridiculous situation to be in.
