Re: Panacea | 4-15-2020 | Evening
Eva could have thrown him out. Hell, she probably could have had him arrested and tossed into a hole somewhere. He'd never be seen again and she'd raise Brayden as her own. 'Mayor adopts orphan left by deadbeat librarian'. Might have actually been better for Brayden, he thought to himself. Sorry, boy. But Eva hadn't. Nathaniel's rather risky gamble on the connection and spark (literally!) between them had paid off. Nate was fixated, enamored with the woman who'd just fed him by her own hand. Who had just agreed to move him into her house and allow him to train her - personally, one on one. Nathaniel should have been more confident, he should have been lousy with it. But despite his bold moves and outer appearance, Nate felt... anxious and edgy. Her gaze left him excited and shaky - these were foreign concepts to the emotionally curt mutant.
Nathaniel assured her he would put the phrase out of his mind, though he wouldn't. And when the waiter returned, Nathaniel noticed Eva suddenly felt miles away. "Thank you," he told the man and remembered what he'd ordered, mostly just to meet another one of Eva's challenges. "Ah, the potatoes look lovely," he smirked lightly at the mayor. "I see why you selected this restaurant," Nathaniel attempted small talk. "How are your shells, sufficiently stuffed?" Oh dear.
