It was unusual for a raccoon to be out and about during the day, seeing as they were nocturnal creatures. This lit a metaphorical fire under the ginger's behind to get to the tunnel in a timely manner - or as timely as one could, considering she did the balk of the work at the humane society. And it was the height of kitten season."Still alive, I see," Rhia acknowledged the fairer Bystrom before moving forward to confront the intruder. She mentally tapped into the animal's mind in search for answers. She was silent for a few moments but seemed to be nodding along here and there, as if having a conversation. Because she was. She glanced back at Weenie. "Seems our furry friend got trapped in the delivery truck overnight."
"Ew?" Rhia echoed whilst making a face at the Aussie techie. "No blow darts," she added emphatically. "She was probably just foraging for food and stumbled upon the truck. They're opportunistic, you know? I'll be able to convince her to leave and let me take her somewhere safe." Hopefully she'd be able to locate where she came from. If not, there were plenty of heavily wooded areas around that would suffice."The dog crate might be a good idea though. I just have to see how this goes," she said, looking back at the critter, who seemed to be looking less threatened now that she was there to 'mediate'.
The redhead took those few moments while Weenie disappeared to commune with the critter some more. It seemed, more or less, willing to let coax her back down. Once she was on the ground, Rhiannon noticed the cage that was brought by the breathless blonde. "Oh," she said, eyebrows rising, "you weren't kidding about the crate." Then she laughed, throaty and full. "Can Dom actually fit in that thing?" It seemed... cramped. She opted not to wait for an answer. "Bait? Can't hurt but do you have anything sweet? Might make easier to put her in there," she gestured at the cage. "I'll take a chip or five, though." She was starved; she hadn't had lunch yet. "My cup runneth over but I don't mind. I'd love to find more fosters though." Hint, hint.
Rhiannon made a great show of flattery by swooning and clutching at her chest. She, however, finished it by an exaggerated roll of her eyes. "Ooh-kay, would you like some wine with cheese?" She flashed a beaming smile, even though she could've sworn she heard her stomach growl.Ooh. Mm. Cheese. She quickly nipped a chip from Weenie's abandoned bag. Crunch! Crisp, salty goodness."Yeah," Fiera said of the granola bar, "yeah, that'll work." She quickly unwrapped it, crouched down, and held the tasty morsel out to the raccoon. "C'mere, cutie. I want to get you back home - to the woods," she added, looking almost pointedly at Fortress. "She's not coming home with me. Shorty was a special case." Shorty (Shortstack), meaning her pet squirrel.
"I'm fullup on roommates, at the moment." To which she currently three, not counting the squirrel. That was more than enough for anyone, especially when those three roommates were family.Sandy? "No, it never occured to me but that would've been a good one. Next time, maybe," she said in an offhanded sort of way.She shut the cage door once the raccoon followed the granola bar in, having thrown it into the 'trap'. "It's safe!" Rhia called out, while testing the door to see it it latched properly. Spoil alert: It did. "Wanna come out and say goodbye?"
