A little bit of Bobby felt bad. The game had been a classic and Bobby knew he would end up replacing it with the minuscule money his mom managed to send him each moth. It was just enough that his father couldn't notice it missing. He just hoped someone didn't care what they got for it on eBay or Craigslist. But still, Pete seemed really angry, and that wasn't what Bobby had been hoping for.
He frowned at his best friend, actually a bit afraid of his anger. "Pete?" Bobby asked softly, shrinking away and trying to calm him down. "She likes you. Like a girlfriend. Like a woman who wants to get naked with you and..." Bobby shrugged and gathered up what was left of the breadsticks, deciding that Pete deserved the pizza. He moved to the door adjoining the bathroom to his own room. "I'll replace the game, promise." He turned his head and looked Pete directly in the eye.
"All she talked about was you. But you don't care. Because you're a coward." Bobby turned the knob and opened the door.
