Frowning, the X-Man accepted a bottle of water. He watched Tony sway on his feet, but said nothing. He drank his water in silence, squeezing the plastic as it emptied, puncturing it with his top claws.
After what seemed like forever, he spoke, breaking the deafening silence.
"The human heart isn't a jumbo jet, Tony. It's not as simple as putting the generator in. You have to know that. It's not about the generator, or your RT. It's about what the human body can withstand. Her body could reject it," he said. "It will be a foreign object. Her immune system could attack it. She could develop any number of infections, and a surgery of this magnitude will have left her immune system weakened. She's not out of the woods yet. She won't be for a while yet."
"Once we put that 'generator' in, there will be no taking it out without doing more harm than good. But we can only keep her on bypass so long. Are you ready for this?" Hank asked. He questioned whether he would be, if the situation were reversed. "It will require steady hands," he added as an afterthought.
