Thor had been a thought for Tony. In this situation, it would have been impossible not to think of the one qualified medical doctor on his team. Given his experience, expertise, and close relationship with Pepper, his fellow Avenger would have made an ideal choice for this situation.
But as it happened... Dr. McCoy was closer, and in his frenzied state of mind that counted for more than anything. Even if he had not exactly been on the best of terms with the man when he'd called him in on this.
At Hank's words, Tony said nothing for a moment, though his features darkened, which in itself said enough. His repulsor tech was not inherently faulty. It served its purpose, both in the weapon designs such as the Jericho Missile and the Iron Man armor wonderfully. The problem really was with him, and specifically, in his not taking the time to think or consider the implications of implanting such technology in himself. Granted, he had been in just about the most desperate straits a man could be in over in Afghanistan, but... still.
He cursed his lack of forethought.
"It's no good for her", he said finally, without elaborating. He knew Hank was smart enough to connect the dots for himself. "But the generator will do for now. It's not repulsor tech, but it has enough power on one charge for a jumbo jet to circle the globe. It will have to do. For now."
Sliding his chair away from where Pepper laid, he got up and turned to grab a bottle. Half way there, he swayed on his feet, but recovered enough. "You want one?", he asked, revealing as he turned that it was actually bottled water.
