Rating: PG
It didn't happen often but, on that particular Monday, Dani was torn. The problem with being the leader of a team was that she was responsible for everyone's well-being, not just her own. And, more than that, she needed to know at all times how capable her team was. Which sometimes led to uncomfortable discussions because, even if she wasn't particularly close to team members, the big r-word still made it her job to get answers.
And, see, it wasn't that she didn't think Bobby was okay. He seemed fine (most of the time) but everything that'd happened with Weapon X had to have left a mark-- there was no way it could not leave one. But if he was dealing with it, then he was dealing with it and that was fine.
The problem was that Dani didn't honestly know for sure-sure. The only way she could was by talking to him about it because, even though they weren't close, it was her job. And if she was sending him with Sam, then she needed to be certain.
Which, she supposed, decided it for her. Dani might not want to probe into his personal business but this was bigger than that.
That was how Dani found herself standing outside the door of the room that belonged to one Robert Drake not ten minutes later. She was dressed casually for the heat (and humidity, which was always the worst in August) with her hair pulled up because there was no way she was going to wear it down in this weather. That was just asking for back sweat and she wasn't going to be having any of that, no, no.
Taking a deep breath and pasting a smile on her face, Dani gave his door two sharp raps. "Hey, Bobby, you in there?" she called out, uncertain if he was even in the building. (She thought he was and figured the odds were good he'd either be in his room or downstairs in the rec room but that was mostly just a guess.) But, hey, even if he wasn't around, she could still get ice cream. Yeah, that sounded like a good plan...
