The holiday wasn't exactly something that he'd spent a lot of time dwelling over or celebrating on his own. Even when he'd been with Gayle, they hadn't really cared about it. But he had two friends now that he thought should get something. Two people who were special to him because of the way that they'd accepted him. He wanted to show his appreciation to them.
He only hoped that he wasn't going to cause any discomfort in giving them gifts on a day like this one.
Given her newfound status as one of the long lived, Jono thought that the only appropriate gift to give Jubilee was something that would last as long as she would. Something that would reflect her as a person. Something beautiful and unique. Somewhat dark on the outside - scary maybe, unusual, but still full of color and life within. He found for her a leather rose with a guaranteed rose scent for 10 years (which Jubes would likely have outlived even as a normal mutant, but it was the best he could find) and left it on the chair on the other side of the glass. He thought that he could break into the cell with proper time, given his lockpick abilities, but that might have entirely ruined the surprise.
Laura was a little more difficult. She didn't seem like a traditional sort, and she had many traits that other girls didn't. She was definitely beautiful, and definitely deadly. He thought the best mirror of this in the plant world was the Drosera Adelae, lovely and carnivorous, which he found potted and left at her door with a notecard containing care instructions.
The one thing that Jono forgot to do when he left his presents was to also leave any sign of who had left them. It was a complete oversight on his part, not at all done intentionally. He hoped that they were pleased with what they found, and he hurried off to Music Appreciation.
