Who: Wanda and Weeze NPCs: -- When: July 14th - late morning Where: Starbucks What: Seeing someone after ten years is rarely what you'd imagine it to be. Rating: PG-13
Wanda was not a person who was what you'd describe as 'cranky' without coffee, but she certainly enjoyed it. If anything she drank it to help with allergies; the warmth usually soothed her scratchy throat. Frankly, she avoided Starbucks and similar places because of the long lines that they seemed to attract. However, Wanda found that by going around eleven in the morning, she could avoid most of the fray as people were already at work and not yet on their lunch breaks. Having a job like hers permitted her to break whenever she so chose.
As she waited for her drink to be made, the woman wandered off to the retail section of the store. She looked over the gifts one would give a coworker or someone they didn't know that well. She picked up a bear in a mug and looked at the bottom. Her eyes widened as she saw it would be thirty dollars to purchase such an item. Wanda put it down gently. She had money but there was no way she would ever buy someone a bear holding about a cup of coffee beans sitting in a mug for thirty dollars. She could buy them dinner and a movie for a little bit more and they wouldn't have to figure out what to do with the stupid bear.
It was strange seeing people buy such gifts for their coworkers. That whole cubicle work environment seemed so foreign to someone who - well, was a part of a band of superheroes. You didn't buy Tony Stark a coffee mug that said 'I hate Mondays', although if it was an ironic gift, Wanda was sure the man would laugh but if you seriously handed him or any Avenger a coffee mug it would seem strange. They would most likely nod, say 'thank you' and in the trash it would go. When you risked your life day after day with the same people, you didn't run into Starbucks and get them a mug. There was too much respect to be shared.
"Wanda!" came the voice of the barista who'd prepared her drink.
Wanda spun around and waved her hand, signifying that she was on her way. "Right here," she said with a smile. She thanked the woman and took a seat in the back by a window. Why she was staying, she didn't know. She merely felt compelled to sit for a while.
