Tony smiled at the Senator from Georgia who was on the Mutant Registration Committee, the man was going on about how important the MRA was and just how important getting all of this right was as well; thanking Tony for his contribution to the MDC and his ambitions and blah blah blah. By this time Tony was quickly fading out of the conversation which was full of a bunch of legal jargon that he really didn't care anything about. He shook the man's hand and offered a bigger smile, "Thank you for your time Senator Waterton; I'm sure you and Senator Kelly really do have the best interest for America at hand. I just hope you, at least, also have the best interest of American citizens that just happen to be mutants at hand as well. I know Senator Kelly doesn't, but some people are just lost causes."
Tony took a sip from his flask which he assured everyone was filled with sprite. It wasn't of course, but no one took the time to 'inspect' it, and frankly who would care? As the two departed, Tony sighed and shook his head before making his way towards the buffet table to grab up a couple of slices of ham and some crackers in order to alleviate some of the boredom this place had. There were plenty of beautiful women here, but most were a bit old, and all of them seemed to be on the arm of a Senator. Which meant that conquest was far too easy to be even remotely enjoyable. It was almost a given each man and woman here had at least one person on the side already, he wondered if politicians were just naturally nymphos or if they felt that politics were better played in the bed. Probably the latter.
Taking another sip from his flask, he finished affording his plate a few scraps of food and took a bite from a procured grape while looking around the party from the edge of it. He loved schmoozing and mingling, but in this particular setting he had no desire to be here. These were his father's friends, people working on some fundraiser his father was apart of that Tony could careless about. They were all vying for re-election, or they were already CEOs who were creating deals with government heads. Tony was just here to provide a physical contact to what he was doing with the MDC, since a few of them here were on that committee. Thanks to Stane, Tony was in and now they wanted to get up close with the boy-genius who was obviously well on his way to being the next Howard Stark, maybe even a better Howard Stark.
One of the waitresses passed him a note with a number on it and he simply offered her a nod and a corner smile before then crumpling the paper and tossing it into the trash. He wasn't in the mood tonight.
