"Welcome back to Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve: The 40th Anniversary Party, I'm Ryan Seacrest and we're just about to welcome Beyonce, but with about four hours to go until the ball drops lets check in with Senior Ball Correspondent Ashlee Simpson to tell us about how Waterford made --"

All around the country TV's were being int erupted with an important message. A man caped in purple and red, sat in front of a desk. A beautiful blue mutant, dressed in white with eyes of gold stood at his side.

"Good evening, I apologize unexpected interruption and I hope to return you to whatever pedestrian programming you were poisoning your minds with.

"My name is Erik Lensherr. And I am a mutant. I was horrified to learn this week not only your government's lack of action regarding the situation in Genosha, but to suggest mutants need to be treated as a subservient class. So, while you all celebrate the new year my people are being oppressed and forced into slavery.

"But I am a forgiving man. I am a patient man. I shall give the United States government one last opportunity to make good of this situation. They have twenty-four hours before I unleash unspeakable destruction upon her citizens.

"Twenty-four hours."

And then just as suddenly as the message had come across it flipped back to its original program and a very stunned Ryan Seacrest speechless and gaping on the TV screens all across the nation.

"Cut to commercial, cut to commercial!"
