'What?' Severus demanded. 'You are actually hoping for me to go insane?' He turned slightly, enough to kiss Remus again. Severus' eyes were soft, without the hardness they usually held. Now this was it? Severus breathed in deeply. There had been several points of no return, although they might have been insignificant compared to this.
'Or am I mistaken? You'd rather have me suffer the intolerable pain of being in love?' Severus wondered if Remus felt the same, although the expression in the beautiful golden eyes revealed it was actually what has happened. Severus looked down at the man in his bed and felt the hate he had held for him evaporate. There were so many wounds and scars between them, some they had made themselves, others were made by others. Some were mental, others had carved their stories into their bodies.
But love... Invisible, elusive, rare love... It made no marks, other than shining eyes and wide smiles and the will to overcome the many obstacles they would had to face if this was their common choice.
Severus turned around fully, wrapping his arms around Remus. He smiled, a small, tender smile. 'Love, Remus? Is that what you want from me?'
