Remus willfully ignored the last words. Severus didn't want that, he hoped. Whatever else happened, they weren't done with talking about this.
"There is always the risk of the potion not working, even if your potion has always worked. That was also why I told you to go..." Guilt welled up again, guilt at forgetting time, for letting himself be so taken by his desires that his responsibilities faded away in his mind, for exposing Severus to that threat, knowing the man had a far more traumatised relationship to... the wolf. He had hurt Severus, perhaps not physically, but definitely emotionally.
"But I hurt you, which is the only thing apart from not locking myself up in time, that I deeply regret about that day. Everything else..." He'd started out at a normal tone level, but now he was whispering again and the lure of Severus was pulling him further in, his words very nearly spoken against Severus' lips.
"Everything else was amazing, something I had never dreamed of being possible, but still dreamed of nonetheless, hoped... I can't go, Severus. I can't turn away from this."
