Strangeness In the Park After Dark WHO: Wren, Eli, & Faihan WHEN: September 18, Late Night WHERE: The Park SUMMARY: Tracking down the source of the whispering.
Everyone felt a little drowsy. Some people heard the whispers. But only three festival goers felt compelled to seek out the source of the sound.
Wren let her instinct be her guide. Perhaps after so many ghost hunts, she truly had developed a sense for the paranormal, for she arrived at the grove in the park first, spotting someone in a cloak. The robed individual placed a staff into the ground, causing glowing marks to appear...then, just as suddenly, they disappeared—leaving only mystery in their wake.
Moments after Wren spotted the robed figure, Eli arrived on the scene. Also thoughtful in his approach, he'd sought out a quieter place to get a better reading on the whispers, and so he arrived at the park safe and sound—though missing the figure.
Faihan, much less patient and careful in his efforts to locate the whispers, mostly ran around trying to hear the sound over the noise and was nearly hit by a motorbike. He arrived at the park last. However, upon his arrival, a circle of glowing glyphs appeared, and in that moment the mist hanging over the park took form, lunging at him.
Wren, still enjoying her ride on the wave of wisdom, backed off and quickly arrived at a good hiding spot in the bushes, where she attempted to photograph the events, but...well, all of them came out blurry and indistinguishable.
Faihan tried to use his limited boxing experience and pivoted, but not quite well enough. He was knocked off balance by the mist monster. Eli threw a rock at the beast, which did very little to harm it, and instead caused it to turn on him. Eli ran and quickly clambered up a tree. He tried to tell himself that this was not happening, that he was at home and in his bed, dreaming happily.
Meanwhile, Faihan, by some instinct, grabbed at the thing as it turned on Eli, which only made it angry. It had taken the form of some four-legged beast, but it did not care that Faihan was a vegetarian. He tried to escape to Eli's tree, but it knocked him onto the ground. He tried a second time, but slipped and fell back down. Things seemed bad, but at that moment a figure in jet black armor appeared from nowhere.
The dark knight stabbed through the mist beast with a two-handed sword like it was nothing. The beast writhed and cried out for a moment before glowing green and fading into a general, non-murderous mist. The beast defeated, the armored figure departed the scene.
The next day, despite the turmoil, there were no signs of the altercation to be found. Likewise, all Wren's photos were illegible. Did it really even happen?
