[Axel freezes when Xion shifts, but when he sees that she's still sleeping he moves more until he manages to get her head on a throw pillow. Hopefully she won't roll off, but he won't be too far away to miss catching her if she does.
That said, Axel steps away from the couch and quietly moves over to the window to just...stare out of it for a moment, thinking and watching anything that passes by. People with friends, people with loved ones and even people with strangers. There are orange lights and yellow lights, green, purple, blue, but out of all those all he can really pay attention to is the faint glow of the moon from overhead. As much as it hurts to look at and as fake as it is, that stupid moon brings back memories--good and bad, but memories all the same. Memories of standing by his window in the castle, watching Kingdom Hearts hang in the eternal darkness, wanting more than anything to be able to reach it...but all the same having conflicting feelings of wanting to run away and never come back.
Just like Roxas.
In the end he ends up reaching into his right pocket, fingers moving slowly and carefully as if he'd practiced this many times, and soon in between his fingers he has that white envelope, now torn at the corners and wrinkled to the point at which it feels like old tissue paper. But it's anything but junk. In fact, to Axel, it might as well be one of his most treasured possessions. Just like before he pulls open the flap--no stamp, no name, nothing else but white--and pulls out that old ice cream stick, still stained blue, and still printed with the word 'WINNER' towards the top.
...This can't be all he has left of that kid, right? It won't go back to being that way...right? And just as his fingers tighten on the stick, so close to breaking it if he really wanted, he props his head up against the glass overwhelmed by those two questions alone.]
