Humans make "first impressions" [He adds little quotes with his fingers!] without realizing how superficial they really are. It's lazy; an unwillingness to stop a delve into someone because there's just so much going on in life already! Wait too long and you don't get what you want. How could you possibly stop and bother to analyze? Get to know them? Engage? So you take them instead for nothing more than a first impression.
[Sighs and glances away thoughtfully] Sure, they're important, but, man, humans have really set the bar on 'em. Too overstated. Too...heartless. There's a difference between making a bad move and awkwardly fumbling and twiddling your fingers when talking to someone you hold physical attraction to. Mm.
[His voice now falls emotionless, though maybe there's a twinge of bitterness.] But there's no getting rid of it, is there? Humans already dug themselves a hole they can't crawl out of. Their hearts led them to it.
...But if there's anyone that truly matters, you'd let them in gradually. Not with a first impression.
