Dualpost! [ The video cuts on, revealing Battler and Beatrice staring intently at a chess board. Unbeknownst to the redhead, Beatrice has let the video cut in, smirking knowingly at the lens before returning her attention to the board.
After all, it's only fair that everyone gets to witness Battler's loss at her hands.
The pieces have been moved around, implying a game in progress. After a long silence, Battler cracks a forced grin. ] Hey, Beato... you've got a pretty good set-up, here.
[ The tension in his voice is palpable. As he talks, he moves a piece. ]
Of course.
[ The knowing, semi-permanant smirk she always wears is naturally there as she watches Battler move his piece into place.]
Every game I set up is good Battler~
[She falls silent before setting her fingertips on her Queen, picking up the piece endearingly.] You're quite good at chess, Battler...but I'm afraid you don't match up to Kinzo as an opponent. How disappointing!
[ The dear Queen moves to cut one of Battler's pieces off of the board as she claims it for herself with a laugh. ] Your move, Battler~
Hehehe... comparing me to that damn old geezer?
[ With a flourish and a smirk to match hers, he reaches forward, grabbing a bishop and moving it forward. ] This is the end of your golden myth, Beatrice!
[ He thrusts a single finger out, and- ] Check!
[ One would think that it'd be over now that Beatrice is checked, but she simply smirks and moves her King lazily out of the way. After all, Battler's just done what she anticipated he would - fallen right into her hands. ]
You'll have to try harder to corner a Witch, Battler~
Dammit... useless, it's all useless! [ He grinds his teeth for a moment, wincing at the situation in front of him. He's got almost no defense left - but maybe, just maybe! Reaching forward, he moves his rook into- ] Try and escape this one, then! Check!
[ If possible, her grin becomes wider and more malicious. Battler's frustration is delicious, and she soaks it up before grabbing her beloved Queen and snatching Battler's rook up in the blink of an eye. But that's not all the damage she's done. With a devious, low voice, Beatrice smirks gleefully and speaks. ] Checkmate Battler!
Damn iiiiiiiit!
[ He throws his head back, letting out an impassioned cry as he flies up and out of his chair - with enough force to jar the table in front of him, knocking the chessboard onto Beatrice. After a few seconds have passed - enough for his manly yell to be finished - he looks down at Beatrice, takes in the sight of chess pieces scattered everywhere, and snickers. ]
Sorry, Beato- [ And oh, how clear it is that he's not ] - but no situation's hopeless if you just turn the chessboard over!
[ She looks at the pieces scattered and the board on her lap, wide eyed for a few seconds before gritting her teeth, clearly embarrassed. She'd done her part, played an innocent game of chess with Battler and here he was, being a sore loser. The bastard, he'd pay. Grabbing her Queen she stands, and before Battler has a chance to even react she has him by the collar. ]
You're right. It isn't. Especially with a board with marble pieces.
[And with that she jams the sharp tip of the Queen's crown right in Battler's left eye. Battler, to his credit, doesn't make a sound past the initial, muted yelp and hiss. Gritting his teeth and trying as hard as he can not to scream, he hisses out. ]
...maybe chess- maybe this was a bad idea. [ Even if he doesn't outright say it, his tone makes it clear - right now, playing games at all with a Witch like her is the bad idea. He's remarkably composed for someone with a chess piece in his eye - has this happened before? ]
Beatrice-
"Video limit reached in three seconds."
[ The two turn and stare at the tinny voice coming from Beatrice's communicator, nestled quietly on a shelf - one with a perfect view of the chessboard. Their faces both reflect varying degrees of shock-
-and the video ends, uploading onto the network. ]
[[ Blue = Battler, Red = Beatrice. Both Beato and Battler will be responding to comments. If you specifically WANT one, the other, or both, just mention in the subject line! ]]
