Look. Vampires are bloodthirsty monsters. All of them, all the time. It's not a matter of my perspective. It's not a matter of my "world". It's just what they are -- it's the way they're built, what they're made to do.

I know, because I used to date one.
He had a soul. He was someone I care about. But he was still a monster. I forgot about that, and I invited him into my home -- I trusted him -- I... fell in love with him. [ tiny pause ] I turned my back on him, and I forgot what he was capable of. Because I thought, "Oh gee, he's a good vampire."
Do you know what happened, because of that big, shiny moment of stupid?
Lots of people died, horribly. Including one of my friends. An innocent woman who was only trying to help him. [ let's leave out Miss Calendar's role in taking Angel's soul away in the first place, that's. just complicating things. ] He tried to kill me, and he tried to kill my mom. He tortured another of my friends -- for hours -- for fun. [ for pleasure, Giles said, but she can't... make that word come out. ]
...Spike, meanwhile, has a chip in his head that basically gives him electric shocks whenever he tries to hurt anything that isn't a monster like him. We've been fighting together for months now, but I'm never going to trust another vampire. I'm never going to forget what he is.
And if his chip ever stops working -- I will do what I have to do.
