[voice]
[Being awake as the strange chemical worked its way out of his system had been a troubling experience. Starting with the euphoria of Yuuri sleeping in his arms, then the slow awareness of a vague shadow, not unlike a fog rolling in. Soon the shadows were so thick it made him feel entirely blind, like he had to struggle for air.]
[Wolfram's feelings. His duty. His loyalty to his country. His promise to keep Yuuri safe from Diva. In some way or another he'd betrayed them all... and yet looking at the peacefully slumbering boy in his arms, Conrad couldn't manage to feel quite as guilty as he should. He felt plenty guilty of course, but there also remained a thin shred of the pure happiness he'd been feeling most of the night.]
[To say he felt ambivalent would be hugely understating the issue. Vertigo would be a closer approximation.]
[And so he'd gone. Leaving the note wasn't the afterthought one might assume; in fact he'd spent over an hour thinking what to write. To have Yuuri thinking that Conrad was somehow upset with him, or disapproved of what happened between them, wouldn't do at all. But to write his feelings would be impossible given that he couldn't begin to sort them out himself. And so a simple request for Yuuri to call whenever he chose seemed best. Let Yuuri decide when (or heaven forbid, if) he was comfortable seeing him again.]
[The entire day he'd waited, his stomach rolling with equal parts anxiety and anticipation each time the comm rang. Each time it wasn't Yuuri his heart would race. Whether from relief or fear he couldn't begin to say.]
[Than, at long last, when he was beginning to wonder if he well and truly had ruined everything, that voice calling his name. As Conrad takes a brief moment to calm himself before responding, he decides that his racing heart was mostly fear all this time, because the way its racing now is entirely different.]
[Still, he manages his usual calm as he speaks, only a moment having passed since Yuuri asked for him.]
Good evening, Yuuri. [Deciding to use his name rather than title probably seems like nothing to Yuuri, but to Conrad it had been a decision that he waffled over for the better part of the day.]
