I didn't say that! [a sob escapes Ritsuka's throat despite his efforts to hold it in]
[a part of him knows that he can and will forgive Soubi despite his anger. he thinks it's because he's weak; he depends on Soubi caring about him too much to stay mad at him, even as the hurt caused by Soubi's lies threatens to choke the very breath from him. he hates this part of himself - it's wrong to forgive everything, and he knows it; he knows he's sacrificing his own heart just to stave off the threat of loneliness.]
Let go of me, please.
[if he stays even a moment longer, he knows he's going to give in, comfort Soubi's pain and worries and open himself again to betrayal and heartache. he doesn't want to face this weakness of his, not now, not when he hasn't even begun to understand the magnitude of the truth about Seimei. the temptation to fall into Soubi's arms sobbing is too great, and Ritsuka is terrified both of surrendering to that temptation, and of what it would mean if he does the opposite and refuses to forgive Soubi.
he can't make sense of any of it, and he has no idea how to respond and not lose Soubi forever, in one way or another. so Ritsuka does the only thing he can to buy himself time to sort out his confused, anguished feelings.
