Okay. Well... for the sake of this discussion, let's assume yours works similarly.
As you know, the brain is divided into two distinct cerebral hemispheres by a longitudinal fissure. While the structure is more or less the same, the areas of the brain are responsible for different tasks and although the lateralization isn't nearly as clear cut as many think, there are tendencies for dominant activity in either side of the brain. For example, 95% of all right-handed people have a left-hemisphere dominance for language.
When we talk about talent, what we're really talking about is a difference in development in the different areas of the brain. Some people are more adapt to logical thinking, which is measured in a higher IQ - technically, that has nothing to do with what most people associate with intelligence but rather with an aptitude for thinking strategically and discerning logical patterns.
Individuals with a high IQ tend to be good at strategy games. [Yes, he just called you smart.]
