[She kisses him more firmly and holds just a little bit tighter, fingers clenching cloth within them.
Knowing one of of his teammates was here had set off so many unexpected feelings. She hadn't been thinking about it exactly, and if she was she wouldn't want to entertain petty jealousy or insecurities. In fact she was barely aware of where her uneasiness came from, but it was all there under the surface.
She'd watched as people she recognized in one way or another would come into the prison. Maybe one was too young or one was too alive and with too much hair. One had a hand he should be missing. One could revert to his flesh form. Whatever it was there were people here who were her people—X-Men, but they didn't know her or they didn't know her as she was. They hadn't had the same life experiences. They hadn't survived the same world. They looked like family, but they felt like strangers. Even her husband—Piotr—had been there twice. Except he wasn't her husband. He was some other Kitty's Piotr. Things had been so emotional and gone so badly. She knew she wasn't alone in this. There had been two Nunnallys for awhile and it seemed like a few Robins were running around the dome. But the bulk of the people who found people from home were finding someone they could really connect to even if it was as an enemy and not a friend.
There was something in that solitude of being the only one that helped her understand how Reid was feeling when he arrived. He was without a team too. How many times had he compared her to one of them? Emily, who had died but not really. Rossi, the Italian man. And Garcia who was good with computers. Garcia who was here now. He had his team and it wasn't a makeshift one he'd built in this place. It was someone he really recognized and had history with. She was glad for him, but it left her with that feeling of being unbalanced. Things were up in the air enough as they tried to sort this new thing out. She wasn't sure what this new player did to them.
But if the kiss was any indication, it wasn't a problem.]
